  • i got this for $135 good phone for the price

  • +1

I bought it when it was $158. It's a nice phone. I don't regret it.

  • Got a second hand one for $80 as a first android phone for the missus. Been a good phone, just wish it had a notification LED.

    • +1

You can download Noled which is a good app, I have the galaxy 2 same problem.

  • Low on memory will be biggest challenge???
So from those that have one - what is battery life like?

    Specs look good:-

  • It's a decent phone for a low-end Android. I do find however that browsing is not particularly smooth (scrolling, pinch to zoom). The camera quality is crap—it froze-up the other day when I used it for the first time in ages.

I hope with the 2.3 update it will be a little smoother. If I was buying a phone now I would probably get the Huawei Sonic, although it's $50 more than the Optimus One.

For the price I guess you shouldn't be expecting too much. Good deal!

I got this phone back in feb for around $280. What browser do you use? I find dolphin HD is kinda laggy but opera mobile works perfectly fine withno lag when scrolling or viewing sites. My phone is rooted and I'm using custom rom so that may be why, but my camera quality is impressive for a 3.0MP.

      • Yeah, probably because you have custom ROM it runs better. Any low-end hardware running v2.3 should run faster and smoother than v2.2.

I use the default browser—maybe I should try Opera Mobile.

    • Have been using this phone since Oct. 2010. After update to 2.2 had no problems at all. Works great. Camera is very good, except in low light conditions. I am really happy with this phone. And for $139 - it's a steal!

    • can't say I have experience similar issues on mine but I would recommend upgrading to 2.3 as this is what I'm running.

  • For the price, this is a great phone. Grabbed it myself a few months ago for $180 and its been good.

Nothing spectacular, but a very decent android 2.2 phone and does what you would expect for something of these specs/price.

    • I've been using this phone for over a year now. Great little smart phone. Upgraded mine to Froyo 2.3 but can't really notice much differences. Local installed GPS maps works great. Would recommend.

      • Froyo is 2.2. 2.3 is Gingerbread, apparently in the pipeline for this model after some reluctance by LG to port.

        • My bad. I was meant to say Gingerbread 2.3.3. LG has been a bit lazy to release 2.3 upgrade to Aus market but it is already available in other markets. Just google for software version LG-P500-V20e.

        • Can you use the overseas software version LG-P500-V20e to upgrade an Australian Optimus One?

  • good mobile. i got this last time when it was $159

  • Is there any free shipping for this month if ordering additional items?

  • Out of this, Sonic (3.5" screen) and Samsung gio ( 189 at unique mobiles with 800 Mhz processor), which one is better phone?

    • +1

I would say Samsung gio. Although at $139, this is a very good buy.

      • +3

I think Sonic is better with Android 2.3.

      • Sonic is better IMO for sure.

  • Can you get skype on it?

    • +2
    • You can, but the skype app in general isnt the best.

Not to mention the fact, that there seems to be a bug with the P500 and the microphone wont work as per: http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Mic-not-working-on-my-…)

Skypes response to my ticket was:

Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Service.

We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with the latest version of Skype on your Android phone. We appreciate the chance to assist you with your concern.

We have escalated this issue to our development team and are hoping to address it with a Skype update soon. In the meantime, we kindly ask you to stand by for a fix, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Has anyone successfully used skype voice on this phone?

  • I am new so hope you can help clarify this for me. I ordered one and just received delivery. However the seal on the box is broken and the seal says 'Do Not Accept If Seal Broken'. I wonder if I should return the package and ask for a replacement with an unbroken seal. Thanks.

    • +2

Your best bet is to contact Unique Mobiles and ask whether or not the broken seal is a result of them opening the box to unlock the phone. If not, return it to them and get a new one.

      • +3

Yes, you are absolutely right. I rang and Unique Mobiles advised that they had to open the box to unlock the phone. Thanks everybody for responding to my query.

    • +1

Mine also came with a broken seal. I assumed that it was because they had to unlock it as it appeared to have UK branding (logo, homepage). Maybe to supply an Aussie charger. Nothing was missing from the box so I didn't worry about it. But ask Unique Mobiles as scrimshaw suggests to get the story.

  • Glad to hear I wasn't the only one with a broken seal (so to speak). I bought this phone for my father so was a little disappointed to discover the broken seal. Glad to hear there's a reason for it.

  • Any more of these offers?
