One of the more better items on sale today at COTD! From their site: Don't let your phone run out of juice when you need it most - the Sanyo battery booster is great for travelling and can charge your mobile (even your iPhone!) to give you extra power when you can't get home to your charger. It uses a standard USB charge connection for USB devices, and it's small enough to keep in your pack for whenever you need it.

  • Lithium-ion battery with USB output
  • 2500mAh
  • Suitable for use when travelling
  • Charges your mobile phone including iPhone
  • Output time - approx 120 minutes
  • Standard 5V/500mA USB connection for charging USB devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players, etc
  • Auxiliary input for your portable devices
  • PC power source
  • Charge time – approx 7 hours
  • Charging indicator LED light
  • On/Off button
  • Includes 1 USB cable
  • Weight: 70g
  • Dimensions (WxHxD)mm: 70 x 39 x 22

Some observations:

  • Believe it or not, their comparison RRP is pretty accurate with many places selling at that price. Cheapest on staticice is $37 + shipping.
  • This deal is even better if you are already buying something as it will come under the $10 shipping cap.
  • Similar priced items on DX/FocalPrice/eBay but really can't compare them with this one which is quality 2500mAh Eneloops.

  • hmmm traditionally eneloops are low self discharge nimh rechargeable batteries in aa/aaa sizes. looks like they are broadening the name…
Sanyo do make good quality batteries though..

  • Are there anything else worth buying on the site right now? Not so keen on paying $16 just for this charger.

    • +1

I couldn't find anything else. Maybe we should make a bulk buy sydney thread? Get 5 people on board (as max order of 5 per customer) and split shipping will mean $12 each - with pickup from Sydney CBD and/or Parramatta.

  • I grabbed one of these.
Probably the only decent thing on the site.
Shipping for 2 came to $8.59 (or something like that)

  • Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on these battery boosters with the 'eneloop' name?
(I'm familiar with the aa/aaa's, so i guess if it's carrying the same eneloop name, that it will be living up to the same high standards of the normal batteries?)

  • Is 500mA output enough to charge an iPhone? I know the Galaxy Tab won't charge unless the USB port supplies 2A, and Google tells me the iPad also wants 5V/2A…I don't have an iPhone but it's something worth checking.

    • Should be enough for any phone. The Galaxy Tab, both 7" and 10.1", will actually charge over a 500mA USB port, it just won't say it's charging. If you watch the battery %, it actually increases.

    • iPhone/iPad don't need a specific voltage/current as much as they need a special waveform to start charging. It's like a 'code' which Apple uses to prevent charging from unauthorised USB sources, regardless of the voltage/current supplied.

by the looks of things(If my research is correct), its a KBC-L3A - http://www.eneloop.info/products/mobile-booster.html
Apparently it can't charge iPads & the likes that require larger currents.. (I'd love the KBC-L2B for this price!!!)

There is also a broad compatibility list: http://www.eneloop.info/fileadmin/EDITORS/ENELOOP/MANUALS/BO…

Hm. It's gotta be able to charge a ps3 controller though.

Charging that thing via usb cord sh*ts me. It takes so long. This would be a big improvement over a 5m long usb cable to my ps3.

Edit…. micro usb? Hm. Hopefully dealextreme has a micro -> mini convertor.
    Edit2… looks like it:
    http://www.dealextreme.com/p/micro-usb-female-to-mini-usb-ma…

    • wow hadn't even thought about using it that way. yes it will. just checked my ps3 controller dock specs online, it's 5V and 500mA, which is exactly the same specs as this. Dont forget to +1 if you like the deal ;)

  • Hmmm, what to believe..?
Read the last post at the bottom the page here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1511997-Eneloop-m…

The Sanyo website doesn't say anything about the usual Eneloop technology(read: LSD)

I guess in any case, it's cheap for a battery extender..

    • It's LSD because it's a lithium ion battery, not NiMH. They're just capitalizing on the Eneloop name. I doubt a Sanyo engineer said it can't charge an iPhone 3G. If it can be charged via a standard USB port, it can be charged with this - as long as the device doesn't require silly things like a resistor across the data pins or a specific voltage on the pins, to make you buy official chargers.

That's super cheap! The Energizer version is $50ish.

      • Sweet - Thanks for the info eug!

  • So can I confirm the output on this thing is a standard USB Type-A plug?

I can see from the pics that there is a Mini-B plug but presumably that is for input as it says DC IN.

  • So does "PC power source" mean it must be charged via USB also (ie: it does not come with an AC adapter)?

    Edit: Yep looks that way:

    "gets charged via USB-connector"

    http://www.eneloop.info/products/mobile-booster/kbc-l3a.html

…meaning you would need a usb wall adapter to charge from the mains.

  • I've been searching for bargain on this item, Japan got another product call "Eneloop Stick Booster" which looks nicer and is what I wanted to buy. However, that stick couldn't charge, and this one is much cheaper, what a bargain. Bought one already.
