But I think sub $4K is an excellent price. Consider that glasses to pair with these cameras are equally expensive as well.
Not at all, this camera is for a specific market segment and is reasonable at this price. Some people would not understand because they don't have requirements that justify this price, just like people who don't understand $2000 iPhones or $60K for a BMW ;-)

I'm contemplaing it pretty heavily but the price is mental. I said I'd get an A7Riii when the iv came out because hopefully it would drop in price, now I'm saying the same about the iv, even thought the v won't come out for years.
What do you currently use?
For stills an e10mii. Completely different ball parks. Even though it's intended as more of a pro camera I still love everything about the iv - mainly the resolution.

It is a deal because it is less than what other Aust stores are selling, close to $5K. If you want the absolute lowest price, then go for grey imports at ~4.3K like https://www.e-infin.com/au/item/3999/sony_alpha_a7r_iv_mirro… but if you spend this much $, you would want peace of mind of a local warranty.
