    This one doesn't explode??

  • +12

It's cheap and contains 20% of sugar.

    • +1

20% sugar is WAY WAY too much. Some people just don't check what sugar is in their foods.

        Walkman does…

You do know that condiments are a sometimes food don't you?

          Okay crazy.

      • +6

Get their Chili Garlic Sauce, it comes in a jar and only has 3g sugars per 100g. It's my go to source of flavor if i need to cut :p

      • Damn! I tried Marion's Kitchen Coconut Sriracha Sauce, the first ingredient was sugar. Literally inedible.

      • +5

It's actually not that high for ketchup

Heinz Tomato Sauce Ketchup has 25.8
        Masterfoods Tomato Sauce has 27.7

        • +1

That's because tomato concentrate already has about 12g of sugar per 100g.

        • +3

There is a version salt and sugar reduced (50% less) available. Same taste.

      • if you consume the whole bottle a day, it's way too much. Do you drink it?
Most people would only used a few gram of it at a time.

      • Low fat yoghurt contains up to 30g of sugar per 150g serve.

I dare say you would eat at least 5 times the amount of yoghurt vs siracha sauce in one sitting.

        • +1

'low fat' anything is generally an alarm bell for higher sugar

      • just eat 20% less

    "Made with real sugar"

When I read sugar, it actually put me off lol

    • +5

      You prefer fake sugar?

PS. Most if not all sauces include sugar. I'm no chemist but it has something to do with acidic balance. Shoot me if I'm wrong.

      • But isn't all sugar fake? It's been a few years since I looked into it but even the stuff they sell as "unprocessed" was not the result of a naturally occurring phenomena.

They can choose riper fruit that already have the correct balance and therefore not require additional 'real' sugar.

        • +1

sugar is a great preservative too

      • yes

It's actually a selling point for products made in the USA. Most of their food and beverages are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup which is a lot worse for you than regular cane sugar and doesn't taste as good. People actually prefer Mexican Coca Cola over the US made stuff because it uses cane sugar instead of HFCS.

    • Well would you prefer real sugar or corn syrup!?

Chances are your favourite bbq sauce / ketchup contains the latter.

Which is the hottest chilli sause I can buy in Australia? Never had enough heat to be terrified.

    • +2

You want hot sauce, not chilli sauce,

        fixed…

flavour and heat are 2 different things. there is a point you cross when stuff just doesn't taste nice anymore.

      • +3

Agreed, however everyone has a different threshold.

    • Try this, you can find this in some asian supermarket. It's one of my all time favourite!

      • Lingham doesn't sound very Asian…

Main ingredient is zucker - 60%. Probably tastes good being so sweet. Not for me though.

        • You're right, it is quite sweet but also spicy.

This one has to be the hottest I've tried. Once I put too much of this in my chili con carne and the next day literally EVERYTHING was agony.

I discovered then I could urinate in three positions: standing, sitting, and curled in a ball weeping.

    • This one got me to stop what you were saying - https://www.chilemojo.com.au/products/grunds-trinidad-scorpi…

    • you can get Blair's Death Sauces in some stores, and Bunster's hot sauces are always popping up in my FB feed so they might be an option?

alternatively, there's always heatonist if you're wanting to try a range of sauces.

      • The Blair's ones taste good. You can get a sample pack to try some of the best ones.

    • Try Samyang sauce, or maybe try a packet of their noodle first to see if you can handle it. Can only be found in korean shops from what Ive noticed

      • Samyang sauce was over the threshold for me. I like hot sauce but that stuff was just burning. All pain, no flavour gain.

    • Had siracha after rave reviews and I don't think it's my favourite thing in the world.

      Regular tabasco is better.

Siracha just feels like spicy tomato sauce.

    • Maybe try a Bhut Jolokia sauce

Used to be the hottest chilli in the world (was overtaken by the Carolina Reaper) at 850,000 to 1,100,000 Scoville Heat Units.

Very easy to make your own

You had me excited until I read the word "ketchup"

  • Might have been a bulk buy closeout…..

Authorities searched a consignment of sriracha chilli sauce shipped to Sydney from the US……

Not a chance. Had to repaint my ceiling after the last one exploded.

  • This is quite hot for most sauce. For the amount you will need the sugar content is minimal.

  • The coconut version is quite nice actually.

  • +1

Is this cheaper than the Asian shops?

    • I haven't seen the ketchup version before I saw it in Woolies! Not sure if I want to try…

  • +1

not a huge fan of the original usa "rooster" sriracha it tends to be searing heat and no flavour but their garlic and chilli sauce is quite nice

the flying goose brand is in my opinion a nicer everyday chilli sauce ( its made by a relative of the original sauce made in vietnam, if you can get ahold of the actual original its fantastic but very different from what we call sriracha sauce )

but i find myself using linghams chili sauce or linghams garlic chili sauce a lot more than the others in my collection

the prices here for the "rooster sauce" brand of sriracha is very expensive compared to the states and the bottle sizes are smaller ( i guess its imported and we pay the Australia tax )

so any time you can get it on special and you like it, go for it and stock up i don't see it very often for good discounts

    • +1

You know your chilli sauces, cheers !

  • +2

My local woolies in QLD is still full price

  • Sorry to sway, but this isnt the original Siriacha from Thailand. This is the American version.

I prefer the "Rooster Brand" that is the original from Thailand.

    https://www.vietworldkitchen.com/blog/2009/07/sriracha-chile…

  • Is the Ketchup any good? I like the Hot Oil version.

  • Rooster brand Sri Racha Mayo - well worth trying

Beware, it’s not vegan because it uses bone char.
