  • Interesting product. Any idea how to connect a blower to a smoker for controlled low & slow smoking? Looks like a cheap DIY version of a Smartfire potentially?

    • Temperature range is too low, only goes to +99c

That's 210f, more than enough for most low and slow BBQ cuts!

        • You want the bbq at 110c to 130c. 100c is not hot enough.

    • Do you already have a blower? If not it going to be a bit of hassle hacking up a fan and a heat proof duct far enough away from the heat as not to damage the fan. Once you have a blower, then you need to have a port to stick the thermostat part of this unit inside the smoker. Then plug your fan to the "heating" socket on this unit, set temp where it fall below the fan will turn on. Either have a adjustable speed fan or limit the size of the blow port.

  • I've been using this in my aquarium for over a year now.

I plug my aquarium heater in one of the sockets to ensure thegheater doesn't overheat or also warn me if it stops working.

There's quite a few videos on how to set it up like this:

Bought it for about $55 back then on ebay

    • Is the probe submerged in water?

      • Yes the probe has been submerged for over a year now with no issues.

The temperature readings seems quite accurate also, as I compared it with a few mechanical temperature gauges.

  • This works for smoking meat, aquaponics, hydroponics and a number of other applications. Trustworthy brand and fairly straightforward to set up. This is a bargain and worthy of purchasing if you're needing this equipment

    • This works for smoking meat,

Any tips for setting up for use as a temp controller in a bullet smoker?

Assume I'd need to buy a blower and some high temp ducting… As simple as that?

  • Dumb question - Can I use this to regulate temperature at different times of the day (maintain 37C btw 8am to 8pm only)?

Was wondering if I would be able to use this as a thermostat for a blue tongue lizard.

    • +2

      No you can't.

The workaround would be to buy a timer and plug the Inkbird into it to turn on during desired time intervals.

    • There's an inkbird model that has time features as well.

    Good for brewing beer?

    • +2

I have one on both my fermenters and one on my boil kettle. Works perfectly.

    • works well for me using it on the wine fridge (with fermenter inside) to brew lager at low temps

  • does this one have wifi?

    • No wifi on this model. The wifi model seems to be $70

    • found the wifi model on eBay for 20% off ($56), free shipping
