Any recommendations - looks very expensive?

    • Other people recommend generic ir blasters. We use these because of the APIs

      • Broadlink rm pro perhaps?

    • Ambi Climate is a lot better.

  • +4

$139 on Amazon, is it the same?

  • +2

    $139 at JB as well

  • +1

This is not cheap? $149? It's been $139 for a while now. Sub $120 would be a good deal.

  • Why don’t they have battery’s

    • Powered via usb into AU plug

Honesty goto Kmart get the genio IR blaster.

Not only works with AC but tvs h/ts etc

Sure doesn’t have a temp sensor built in but shit I have the sensibo and it’s not worth the $ paid for it.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/mirabella-genio-wi-fi-smart…

Works In the generic TuyaSmart app; and google home etc etc.

    • Or buy from Aliexpress for around $14 for Tuya one.

      • +1

        Might give these ago.

I don't mind our Sensibo, but the Broadlink is garbage and very unreliable.

          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33018851576.html?spm=a2g0s.9…

I got this and another one (different look, same thing). After recent update it's more intelligent than Broadlink. If I command Google Home by telling it to set AC to X degrees, it will turns on AC and switch mode then temperature, just like my LG Wifi AC (though lacking built in temp sensor).

          • @Bigboomboom: Could this turn off my ceiling fan after a set number of hrs. It's a standard fan with an IR remotely control that has three speed settings and 'off.'

          • @Bigboomboom: Does this support ACSON aircon. Can I set timer via app to turn off after x minutes?

        • +3

          My Broadlink has been fantastic.

          • @TonyRancid: yep got 2 off them Broadlink RM Mini and they work fine with Fuji air cond units.

      • any idea if theres a list of supported devices?
I dont have a remote for a ducted 'Derby' (crap) air con in our house, and would be good if i could see if its already supported from some supported device list.

        • +1

I checked in the app and “derby” is listed(only one code avail(most have 3-4 options), you will still need to test it but like I said doesn’t work, back to Kmart it goes.

          • @jcarterd: Can you pls check if it supports Acson aircon pls.

            • +1

@bashar20: There is both an ascom (6 code sets) and an ascon (1 code set) in the tuya app.

              • @jcarterd: Just to make sure. You are referring to the Kmart one here, not the other alternatives mentioned in this post?

                • +1

@bashar20: They are all the same, they all use the Tuya system; I use the generic Tuya app to register the Kmart devices not the genio app

    • +3

if you want to remove the chinese spyware you can flash https://github.com/ct-Open-Source/tuya-convert on most items from mirabella genio

    • can u set up the Genio blaster to turn on the AC during the day.. EG 4pm ?
      Thanks

      • +1

Yes you can either do it I tuya app or a routine in google home.

(Or via weather: or via sensors (e.g. door sensors)

My daikon supports mode/temp/fan speed etc via tuya; not as much via google but this seems pretty standard.

Yes cheaper elsewhere but if it break or doesnt work Kmart just swaps it no question.

        • Please bear w me, but how does it detect the temp and turn the aircon on/off? I meant does it need to plug before the aircon power source like smart plug or something?
Interested to try as i need to wake up several times at a night just to turn the aircon on (the normal remote has a once off timer to either on or off)

          • @countmein: The Tuya one (Mirabella Genio/Aliexpress)? No they don't, unless you can link with a smart thermometer. The sensibo has built in sensor so it can detect room temp.

            • @Bigboomboom: Thanks. So i wonder what/how the kmart one works for scheduled on/off? My objective is simply turning it on at 1am for half hour and then off, on again at 4am for half hour n so on. Does is sound reasonable or achievable?

              Cheers

              • @countmein: Timed schedule, yes it can but it will need WiFi to works. Just use Tuya apps.

Tuya App also uses weather app to determine temp to trigger automation however this is far from ideal Vs an actual sensor in your room.

                • @Bigboomboom: Thanks!
Ive got genio app (for bulbs) may give it a go as kmart is easy to return if it doesnt do the job

                  • @countmein: You can remove from the genio app and Register in the tuya app instead all works the same.

                    • @jcarterd: I started with Tuya based on recommendations here but it glitched when trying to DIY commands. Then tried Genio app and it worked, not sure why. What's the difference between the apps, looked the same?

                      • @bxpressiv: Genio is just a skinned version of the Tuya app, but can have other stuff baked in.

Tuya gives support for IFTTT for some things also that the genio etc don’t have.

i have three sensibos. love them. would buy them again. login at work see what temperature my house is remote turn on if its not to hot. can geogrnce to turn off when i leave etc…. works with a lot if aircon hnits.

    • Thanks

    • Bought the genio but can't find my fujitsu's remote. Was a very popular aircon on ozb last year so guessing someone else has the same issue.. Remote looks like this

      • Have the same, just go into DIY and add the buttons manually.

        • Added as a DIY device. But Google home doesn't recognise it.

  • They go for much lower at Australian retailers

I find it really odd this has been posted on the same day that everyone got an email from JB advertising it for cheaper

The selfie by Kaewan koe in the Reviews section really sold it to me.
