Quite a regular sale. But good when it occurs.

Just a heads up. Aminoz do instant price beat by 10% (including matching free postage) and stock Musashi. So if you don't mind waiting for post you can save an extra 10%.

    • How often do they do these 50% off sales?

      • +17

Prob every 2nd or 3rd catalogue. So literally at least a 2 week block every 2 month period.

Glad to see i'm downvoted for stating a fact.. while I was upvoting the post…

        • upvoted to level it out haha, thanks mate ill keep an eye out. Catalogues fortnightly?

          • @Pulseless: I was a bit off on the frequency. I think they are about 3 week runs… and every 3rd catalog its on. Basically they go like 2 bucks off Musashi protein powder, then 25%, then 50% and they just keep that cycling… last time it was this was 6 weeks ago

I just stock up on the preworkout when it comes on sale, can't get much cheaper than 20 buck preworkout. Last year it used to be 17.50 half price but they jacked the rrp by 5 bucks hahaha

  • Fine for the most part but stay away from the protein bars. These things are vile.

    • Totally agree with this, bought a few of them when they were 50% off at Woolworths, ended up throwing them all out.

The deluxe bars are pretty good imo

      • +1

I dont know which ones (deluxe or not) i tried a while ago, but I really liked them.

People still purchase Musashi brand anything?

  • +5

I don't mean to be a dick, but Musashi is quite overpriced to begin with. Is anything good value after the discount?

    • +4

All proteins are overpriced….but when it's half price it's actually not a bad deal:)

      • It's not a good deal either compared to previous Chemist Warehouse deals. I'll wait for 75 % off.

        • +3

You shall be waiting a while:)

        • +1

I only know of 1 deal where it was 75% off and that was because Musashi was doing it's rebranding of its packaging. Highly unlikely 75% off will happen again unless they rebrand again

I think generally WPC at $20 per kg or less is a decent price for an established brand

    • +1

They also have the INC branded 100% Dynamic Whey cheaper than normal although it does not show as a sale price it is quite a bit cheaper than they normally sell it for.
Definitely check the nutritional info though to see if it meets your needs

      $32.49 for 2KG

Are there any bars which are not low carb?

I find the artificial sweetener they use hard to eat

  • I’ve had the 100 per cent whey - tastes pretty good.

Anything better than that in their range - lowish carb and sugar preferred?

Anybody know if there are studies for which protein companies definitely don't use steroids? I remember reading that 20% or 25% of protein powders that advertise "no added steroids" actually have added steroids because the industry isn't regulated…

    • Lol wut? The industry is definitely regulated. Have a look at ATP Science if you want a good supplement company in terms of well sourced quality ingredients and no added surprises.

      • there is nothing special about that company. Don't fall for the marketing hype. Most of these companies are just reselling an OEM product.

Some of their products are gimmicks. Prototype 8 claims to help you look better in photoshoots. What a joke. 80 bucks for some oil and hyped up ingredients. No thanks

        • +3

Oh I completely agree about that product mate, I was more talking about their Nowhey and creatine etc.

I used to be mad into 'sup stacks', quite often spending $300+ on supplements. Now, the only thing I always use is Creatine Mono, and sometimes a preworkout sup if not black coffee. And I look the best I ever have. Sups are overhyped, you don't need them guys.

LMFAO! If they actually added any oral steroid powders they would be risking a lawsuit that would send that company bankrupt

    • +8

Damn, I must be unlucky and getting all the protein powders that they forgot to put steroids in :(

Massive? I've been using this to lose weight :-)

Protein shake is good for sating hunger for a couple of hours, without too many calories.

  • been thinking of a protein as i am not getting enough in my diet at the moment.
the toss up is between Musashi and uprotein.
I am something that is as natural as possible, has no spiking and additives. Non flavoured.
    Would anyone have any recommendations?

    • There’s nothing about this brand. If you want something natural go vegan based protein. Chemist Warehouse sell some. It’s just marketing and bro culture that this brand survives.

      • Protein is protein. Fine to go more natural but you’re more likely going to spend $50-$60 per 1kg for the privilege.

      • Why vegan rather than whey?

    • I am something that is as natural as possible, has no spiking and additives. Non flavoured.

Well, if you want natural, just eat meat, legumes, etc.

The least un-natural powder is going to be milk powder. Skim, if you prefer. Whey protein if you want low-carb as well.
Vegetable protein powders tend to taste rather less pleasant than milk, without added flavour.
But be honest, if you are looking at supplement powders, you have given up on natural eating.
