  • The Age and SMH for iPad are also available for free till Dec '11, as part of an earlier deal (trust it is still valid)

There is a discount available if you provide them with the PIN code for your mobile message service.
Seriously though….why would you get your news from these?

There is only two things you can rely on as being correct in the Daily Telegraph, the date and the price.

      • But they had 'PROOF' of Weapons of Mass Destruction just a few days into the evasion of Iraq … and they don't need the PIN code to tap your phone.

  • This app frequently crashes and is not as responsive as the SMH app, on iPad 1. it was good that registration is not required for News, but looks like they have a long way to go to catch up to the Fairfax papers.

This is also the future, where we are going to have to pay for news starting next year, either apps or paid access to the websites.

  • Great that they're free. Shame they are awful apps. So slow.

    No Oz….oh well

As for being slow, they're just catering to their readers <g,d&r>

  • I can get all the papers on the web for free on my 7" android tab. Why would I use the app? Any benefit?

Because from Nov 15, you'll get that warm fuzzy feeling of giving something back to poor old Rupert & his family, who have done so much for this world.

      • Yes, I wouldn't trust News Corp with any of my info. What next, hack people who have downloaded their apps?

    • Wow tough crowd, someone negged me for asking a pretty straightforward question. Rupert, is that you? Gimme a break buddy, just askin.

But is this really a bargain? I get the news for free from many sources, and this bargain requires me to provide away information to get the bargain. This is really a fishing excercise for potential members who will be spammed by News Ltd to upgrade for paid info.

It might provide some value for ipad users, as they cant get flash so I would presume that the app directs them to a page that is suitably formatted.

For android users, I see no benefit, although I still wait to be informed why i should sign up.

It is not a bargain to provide a free service for free.

    • When you say you can get all papers on the web do you mean epaper versions for all newspapers.. Link please..

      • Indeed, link please. Browsing the papers web sites is not quite the same.

With Murdoch's rags going digital, dog owners around Australia will have nothing left to pick up their pieces of $#!+

  • Good luck SHEEPLE! :)

Maybe you need to send in a DNA sample & all your voicemail codes when you subscribe?!

"Because if you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear!".

But the Deal is definitely a valid bargain - and if you're a footie fan, you have to find out about Spam Newmans latest high quality tricks in the Herald Sun! And help Rupert towards his next billion…
