Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax $34.99 @ Supercheap Auto

160

Not the cheapest, but still a good deal if you need to get it now.

Seems like a pretty good product from this review:

Spelling fixed, and it's still a deal because it's the 2nd cheapest, and much cheaper than the RRP of $49.99.

Jeez, OZB is harsh….get negged for spelling (not even contextual error or wrong info) while this is still a legitimate deal.

Great product, applied it before the NSW level 2 water restrictions and its been holding up very well!

Note: Contrary to the instructions, i laid down the base coat of hybrid ceramic wax on a dry panel. The video that OP linked compares all 3 application methods, and you'll be suprised at how much better the dry application performs

    • So did you apply it as you would with other wax products?

      • +1

        that's correct!
And in future top up layers you can chose to use the wet application methods if you prefer

This is a good local price for the Mag's.

I would actually suggest buying the Turtle Wax version instead - https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/turtle-wax-turtle-wax-hy…

This test is worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lRsKREslOQ

Lots of reviews have found the Turtle Wax version lasts better than any other cheap (say under $100) products.

I've had it on my car about 6 months, and it's still working beautifully!

(edit - should also mention Nufinish, which lots of people rave about. Also available at Supercheap.)

Hybrid Solutions range is out in the US. Expect it here next year, at an inflated price.

The version usualy well reviewed is Turtle Wax ICE, while usually in AU the normal version. Not sure if it's the same or not.

    • I actually got a bottle of the Seal N Shine in my kit because it was like $17 on sale a while ago and couldn't pass on it. US test reviews say it's great, but the Aus version review (see Car Craft Auto Detailing) say it's not as good as the Meguiar's. I've tested on the bonnet of my car only and it's good, and easier to apply than traditional wax.

Purely based on the review by CCAD, I'd be included to try this instead because nobody can say if the Aus version of the Seal N Shine is the same as the US version that is getting rave reviews.

  • Might want want to wait for Supercheap Boxing day sales, for Turtle Wax.

Based on what I have viewed/read the Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic is the go product - relatively cheap in the USA between US$15 to US$20 but no doubt will will get charged an outrageous amount once it is released here. Amazon AU only want $137.00 a bottle!

Seal and Shine is a very good product. Used it myself. Sub $20 on sale. It leaves a bit of an oily residue which needs buffing, but it leaves a good layer of protection.

      • Supercheap boxing day 30% off. Makes Seal n Shine just $17ish

  • Any idea how long will a coating of these lasts?

    • +1

Honestly depends on what type of car washing detergent you use, how often you maintenance wash it, how you applied the hybrid ceramic wax base layer (see video OP linked), and how regularly you apply HCW top-up layers.

If you use something like Bowden's Nanolicious it could help extend the life of the SiO2 coating, compared to a more potent detergent like Chemtech CT18.

It will last longer than a wax but not as long as a true ceramic coating

  • Can't use this with level 2 NSW water restrictions…can't even power wash ash off my car…RIP
