This or the Xiaomi Mi Smart Air Purifier Pro?
    Around $340 on eBay.

    • +1

I believe this is a better option, i have heard the Xiaomi's auto mode isnt that good.

If you have a big room then go with the larger Dyson air purifiers, this is good for a localised area.

I try to find out more information about this Dyson fan, especially even it says it use HEPA filter. But there is no information clearly about CADR( Clean Air Delivery Rate)

I think this Dyson fan is not actually Air Purifier product

How good is this as a fan? I see purifying as a nice side bonus

    • +3

      Expensive.

  • Worth it for cooling effect or a glorified fan?

  • Wtf is that shipping cost? So instead of jacking up the price, they're jacking up the shipping instead.

    • How much did you get for shipping? I live in NSW and paid $12.85 for shipping and I think its sent from their VIC warehouse

      • +1

I'm in Syd and I get the same but I'm more looking at this item that charges $40 for shipping: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-244384-01-HP04-Pure-Ho…

Don't really care where they're sending it from. It was just $8 for shipping a couple of days ago.

        • Not sure how much shipping was before but realistically speaking that sounds like a fair shipping cost for something that big interstate.

    • It's crap. $16 and none in stock near by.

  • Seems to have positive reviews online. Anyone else able to shed some personal experience with this?

FYI, locations with stock in VIC:
Maribyrnong The Good Guys, 2-6 Sloane Street, Maribyrnong, VIC 3032
Brighton The Good Guys, 681 Nepean Highway, Brighton, VIC 3186
Taylors Lakes The Good Guys, Unit 2, Super Centre 2, 399 Melton Highway, Taylors Lakes, VIC 3038
Springvale The Good Guys, Tenancy 1, 754 - 768 Princes Hwy, Springvale, VIC 3171

  • How much are the filters and hoew often to replace them?

    • +1

$99 for the filter. The HEPA/Activated carbon filter is good for 4380 hours (12 months at 12 hours a day).

  • If you are looking at it as an air purifier I can not find how large of an area it can be used for. There are other air purifier options like Breville air purifier range which has cheaper filters, but recommended to be replaced at 6 months instead of 12, so might work out to be similar in price. Also good to note that there is a difference between TRUE-HEPA filters and HEPA filters.

    • Some companies use a marketing term known as "True HEPA" to give consumers assurance that their air filters meet the HEPA standard, although this term has no legal or scientific meaning.

  • gf: don't you think it's a bit selfish to spend $319.20 only purifying the air around you?
    me: come to papa

Has anyone succesfully diy an air filter with a box fan and hepa filter? I am looking for a suitable box fan in australia

  • James Dyson is a great marketer of his products and while the fan technology is impressive.
You are better off getting a cheaper and bigger unit from other brands that specifically make Air Purifiers.

If you are look for a medium to large room air purifier this model advertised is suitable for a small bedroom.
It will take longer to purify the air for medium-large rooms.

When looking to purchase an air purifier is the CFM (Cubit Feet per Meter) or the measurement of the velocity at which air flows into or out of a space.
The higher the rating the faster the air in a room will be purified.

As for ongoing maintenance with HEPA filters, etc you are also best to look at these costs as well.
Replacement of this filter really is determined by how polluted the air is (in your area) and how often you use the purifier.
