Review of the FutureGear (New Zealand) store from some years ago

Great price given local stock is in the $300 mark. We have a few inside the house running around the clock and works really well (per sensor's colour - turns orange red when cooking). A less dusty house over all.

Filter is more readily available than most other brands, particular some that constantly "refresh" their line up and filter supply becomes obsolete for "discontinued" models.

Will I be able to buy the filter replacement ?

The large dupont filter is currently on amazon at around $100.

  • What's the CADR for this thing?

  • Do you find the one in the kitchen needs filter replacement more frequently?

    • +2

No. We just replace per their preset algorithm. Extraction fan is on (ones that extracts out) and this lives near the doorway.

When vacuuming the filter monthly, does not appear to be more greasy or dirtier.

    • Looks like pricing error. worth a shot.

Filter alone is north of $300 (KG currently selling the filter for $170) and will become landfill for most households not wanting to pay for the filter (nor they need a purifier of this size). Suspect these are for classrooms or commercial space.

    • It seems KG has shipped a few of these and people has left feedbacks on this unit. I can only guess ACCO is dumping out stock, after all, the RRP is over 1k.

  • What’s that small rectangular unit beside the main unit?

    • Sensor

      • Do you happen to know what sort of power adapter fits into these sensors?

        • ? Comes with its own power adaptor that goes into a normal wall socket.

          • @Flutterby: To add some clarification I’ve seen a few of these units around, usually thrown out, without an adapter so wondering where I can buy a compatible one for these

  • Z6000 & Z7000 models also super cheap. The Z7000 especially good for large rooms.

    • but look at the cost of replacement filter LOL

  • Any idea how long the Z6000 & Z7000 models filters will last?

Most likely to become landfill once the filters are done, unless can give more life to them using a blower on them

    • Normally a year or two (time based).

I thought of cancelling my order and going for the larger one. Held back to 2 reasons:
      1. Expensive filter
      2. Better to have 2 smaller ones in different parts of the room than a large one in one corner
      3. Filter availability going forward since the z5/6000 are likely less popular and supply will be somehow correlated.
