Don't buy cards from Ali or equivalent.

  • +11

    Used cards in bulk? Ex-mining.

  • +5

Just bought an rx 580 8g for $150 off Gumtree. Plenty more great value cards on gummee lately, much better value than this deal

    • I bought pair for $300 over 6 months ago, crazy they have held value for so long. Great cards to throw in budget builds

  • HI op, would you mind posting other graphic card deal under $100? thank you

    • i only follow this model sorry… they're exceptional value atm

if you want something cheaper maybe a gtx 960 or 750 ti.. they're a quite a bit weaker and older

    • I saw a 1050 local for $50 on gumtree.. just check your local classifieds and I guarantee there will be bargains

  • +2

How does this not means it's a mining card? What do you expect it to look like? 3 seconds blowing dirt out and giving the heat sink a wipe…. Cards still appear to work fine if used for mining anyway. The concern is their longevity.

"Card is super clean. Honestly looks brand new.

Regardless, stay away from Aliexpress for GPUs. As above, purchase local (and in person) if necessary.

    • -2

well if you have mined before you would know it doesn't take 3 seconds, they're actually pretty hard to clean. if you're concerned about longevity, i suggest you read the links i posted in the previous deal

you can never prove or disprove whether a card has been mined on, even with local stock. China is a big place, these could just be returns or unwanted stock

i don't see how aliexpress is any different from other online retailers for buying second hand goods

      • +1

you can never prove or disprove whether a card has been mined on, even with local stock

One is sold in bulk. The other is your average Joe selling his old card.

        • doesn't disprove my point?

          • +2

@abctoz: You may not know for certain, but you will have an idea if the card is used for mining. Don't think there are many miners in Australia because of the high electricity prices.

            • @askbargain: well i mined, so i follow gpu markets somewhat and i know for a fact there were quite a lot of cards dumped… even your average joe can mine and not tell you, and you would never know, that's my point. plus there were a lot of people buying mined cards and reselling them…

the only true way is to buy a card that wasn't profitable for mining, and those are limited to newer models that came out after 2018

      • +1

Have you ever used an air compressor? It's literally 3 seconds.

      • +1

Mate, I literally just blew out a mined on RX 570 with an air compressor and it looks brand new. Took about 3 seconds.

        • well you guys must have super reflexes because it took me 10min/card and they weren't even that clean

          • -1

@abctoz: Lol clearly haven't used an air compressor.

Aliexpress and China cards have a notorious reputation for fakes.

            • @scuderiarmani: it's pretty simple to disprove what i said, just post a video of yourself cleaning a gpu out in "3 seconds", i don't think you understand how dusty mining gpu's get, here is a rough guide:

              https://youtu.be/c-qY59VrVS4?t=177

              • @abctoz: You actually believe a review written on Aliexpress? You realise it was probably his mate?

I don't think you understand how irrelevant what you've said is, someone new to GPUs will look at it on the outside and say it's clean, cool. So what?

                • +1

@scuderiarmani: and that's contrary to the experience of many… believe it or not aliexpress does billions of orders every year but according to you they are all fakes

                  • @abctoz: Didn't say they are all fakes.

In the words of Eddie Murphy,

Got to be careful. They say having casual sex nowadays, is like playing Russian roulette.

AliExpress is vastly different to other major online shops like eBay. It's full of EXTREMELY cheap and DODGY products from China that would hardly be acceptable elsewhere. Legit end-user cards RMA'd in China are HIGHLY UNLIKELY to be shipped and sold to anywhere outside China - because, as you stated, it's a big place and they're likely to be scooped up at a bargain locally - not sold and shipped outside. Until otherwise proven 100%, this card HAS BEEN BRUTALLY used to mine coins and that's it. No other reason for a used GPU out of China.

        • can you provide some examples? and why does this not apply to ebay and amazon? chinese products(even fakes) get listed everywhere, i can give you links right now if you want

this is used stock so i don't understand the reference to RMA's

this is a carefully chosen deal in a reputable store, and I have provided convincing evidence(links in previous deal) that shows why this stock looks legitimate

and note i said this 'may' not be mining stock - i simply don't know and neither do you

unless you can provide evidence to the contrary there is no need to keep repeating the same unproven rhetoric about the product and aliexpress

  • +5

My concern would be that they're fake. There is a lot of fake graphic cards out there. You see them on ebay alot. $55 brand new including postage for a 1050ti sent from China? Yeah, sure.

    • +1

it's pretty easy to spot the fakes, usually it's as easy as reading the specifications and comparing them to the actual specifications. i have provided evidence in the prior deal on why i think this one looks legit

    • +1

For budget cards without a backplate, one look at the PCB and it's obvious

    • I've spent a LOT of money with this seller and I've had zero problems with all the CPUs I bought. I don't think these cards are fake at all but as much as I trust them with CPUs I don't know about the whole "non mining" angle.

Like say these weren't used for mining; where WERE they used? Nobody building office PCs would have put such an unnecessary powerful card in those. Net cafe? Unsuccessful PC store closed? Stolen in the great rx470 heist? Just doesn't seem right. I'd take a punt at $50 but not 100. Would be good if GPUs counted hours on.

Having a quick look around you can get a 570 for about $20 more. Those don't say "not mined" though so you know they've definitely been mined

      • +1

        they could be returned stock

imo people blow the dangers of mining cards way out of proportion, because they fear the unknown. but if you do some research and read mining forums/mine as i have, you'll find they're actually quite reliable, this is because the capacitors(the first components to go) are rated for ~5 years of 24/7 operation at 85c iirc, and here is the kicker - for every 10 degrees dropped you double the life of the capacitor, now miners usually like to keep temps well below 85c, i kept mine at ~75 because they were blowers and i read a lot of miners do 65c - and the reason with lower temps is you reduce power consumption slightly due to the way silicon works, and you also take care of your mining investment - which despite what people say most miners do

oh and they say "not mining" maybe because they mean there is a mining version of the 570 floating around, with 1 dvi port only

        • You know, the more I read the more I'm tempted to buy one however I don't want to wait a month and a half and I'm not sure it'd get here in one piece

          • @hambuger: last few packages i got from aliexpress arrived in 2 weeks, i live in inner sydney YMMV…

            • @abctoz: Chinese new year = everyone on holidays

  • +2

go to gumtree if you want used.

don't get sucked in by the price

  • i like how the reviews show GPU-z screenshots.

who the hell does a GPU-z screenie as a GPU review?
    so obviously faked
