HOLIDAY15SPEAKER20

Black out of stock

I know this post has been flying around last 2 days.

Some of you have issue with over-charged $157 instead of $143. I'm struggling with it either. I bought one and they charged me $157 (but I already make a claim through Paypal)

Today I try again with Code SPEAKER20, but i don't know what it does. Price now even goes down to $101.97.

Please note: voucher codes are case sensitive.

Method 1

What I did. I install Honey add-on into Chrome, when adding speaker to cart and use Honey, It drops down to $101.97 by itself. Wondering if this is price error. Pay with PayPal.

Here is my proof

https://ibb.co/hdqnP7f

  • I just spoke with them on the phone and they were stating that "my bank had frozen the payment for the 'BOSE Acoustimass® 10 Series V home cinema speaker system' at $974.35" and the lady then asked did I have another credit card to try - and I said no and what a dodgy thing to ask. I called my bank and they said that was rubbish and they had not frozen the amount and that is awaiting BOSE to process that payment (from the 10.12.19) and there was no reason at the bank's end for it not to go through. So the funds are stuck until BOSE either processes the payment or does nothing and the payment is declined (after 5 business days).

I did clarify with the bank that there is no way that BOSE can just start modifying the charges or amounts and the Bank staff member literally LOL'd at that comment and said no way!!!

So pragmatically BOSE just does not process the sale and they all get declined (that way BOSE has not canceled anything and thus are not the bad guys) and we get our money back. Some of you may get your speakers but I think with a sale like mine from $1499 down to $974.35 that is going to be the outcome.

    • -1

I hate to tell you this but that bank staff knows shit.

Bose can certainly modify the amount.

They are doing that now with the other deals where we were only supposed to be charged $142 but Bose has modified the payment and some people are getting charged $150+.

      • -1

I would have to disagree. I am yet to see anyone that paid via Bank (Debit or Credit) yet to claim the amount has changed. Each case so far seems to be a payment via Paypal (from the bank). Maybe BOSE can get away with that rubbish with Paypal but what your implying makes no sense and I think it is rubbish otherwise every and all merchants would be trying it on on each and every sale and 'the facts are it never happens'! Of course the banks know what they are talking about or else they will become liable for such cowboy conduct from merchants!

What your implying makes no sense and I think it is utter rubbish until actually proven!!!

        • -1

Been in the bank for 10 years mate, you think all transaction dispute submitted by clients are due to PayPal?

Bose sending an amount via PayPal is no differences to Bose sending the same amount to the bank, in this case, PayPal is but the middle man.

Merchants don't do it cause it's not only screw with their books but the onus is on merchant to prove the amount or else it gets refunded fully to the client. (Which if they have lied, they know they will screw themselves)

The only rubbish is your ignorance.

  • +15

My fellow ozbargainers, so my understanding after reading comments is in the event that Bose increases the invoice/paypal amount without calling or advising us is we are going to:

    1. accept the delivery
    2. Use the product
    3. Request a return before 30 days is up
    4. Get refund
    5. Neg review the sh!t out of the product

    Resulting in:
    *Product becomes used and refurb
    *Hurt the bottom line
*Neg reviews means reduced future sales of product resulting in item clearance for ozb members to get a bargain next time
    *The ozb tribe has spoken

Please let me know if this summary is accurate?

    • +2

You pretty much sum it up!!
This is exactly what i am going to do if i receive the speaker.

      • +3

Maybe they're thinking - let them have the speaker for 30 days they won't want to give it back and will just accept the price because they love it so much

        • +3

They just don't not know that most of us already own a few decent bluetooth speaker so that won't happen unless it is a bargain purchase :)

        • your avatar confused me. I was looking for the punchline

    • Here's a question - what are the start and end points of that 30-day period? Does it start when you receive the product? Does it end when you lodge a return?
The Bose "excitement guarantee" doesn't specify anything.

      • it should start on the date of the tax invoice.

        • but then you don't have a 30-day trial period as claimed.

          • @andresampras: I will return it in a week time as I claimed. however, those who haven't claimed yet can use it for 30 days.

      • "Excitement guarantee"? Hahahaha! Marketing w@nkers…

        • +3

Excitement guaranteed when you find out you got charged a higher amount checking your PayPal/CC account.

  • Has anyone received it yet or got shipping email? If they are in fact going to increase our price then surely it arrives today or tomorrow

    • I was told by the live chat my Bose Soundbar 500 would be shipping either today or tomorrow

    • Email said it has been delivered to my home. I will check it once I'm home in 2 hours time.

      • Its been delivered. Now i just need to monitor my paypal

  • called them
they said ill be charged extra $60ish and they will refund that $60ish in 6 weeks.
    I paid by card btw.

    • +1

This still just blows my mind, Here is the price, here is the invoice, here is the payment receipt.. ACTUALLY NO thats all wrong we are taking more money now.

    • Why the refund in 6 weeks? What’s that all about?

      • +1

Probably hoping you forget and they keep the $60.

        • traichung, how much did you pay for this? And have you been charged extra?

          • +1

@lyoo01: I paid $101, not yet, they said they will charge once they dispatch the item.

            • +1

@traichung: I think I am in the same boat, yeah. Thanks for letting me know!

        • +1

That is thier way to roll the dice. I've call them to cancel the to avoid the hassle. Who knows how much they gonna refund if they can increase the charge this time.

    • +1

You should get that in writing. In 6 weeks time you won't be able to return the item for a refund if the difference doesn't come through.

    • +1

I reckon the person you spoke to is bluffing. They're under strict instructions not to honor $101.95. $159.95 is final

      • Yeh, I don't know, probs will find out in 6 wks.

they also gave me the refund transaction no. as well, not sure what I can do with that.

  • +3

Mine still showing as pending on paypal.
Not going to bother chasing it up. Will see if it gets shipped or if they cancel it.

  • So I had the $143 speaker, and was charged $159 this morning. I used the chat option and they said I will have the difference refunded within 2-4 weeks.

I asked about my second order which was $203. They said in their system they had $339. I asked if they could amend, but they said since my account says pending $203 "To avoid the same issue. I'll will monitor this for you. In case a refund for the second order is needed. I'll refund it right away, to lessen your effort in contacting us back"

I feel like they won't monitor it, and I'll end up having to speak with them again.

Also said my order isn't due to arrive till the 16th. So much for next day delivery.

    • +1

That’s a change in their position now. Perhaps they have received a lot of PayPal disputes already and now decided to give the refund but given how Bose says one thing but don’t do it, better to head through the dispute path. Customer service appears to be given a script to say to customers what their management told them to say. For a normal business they should be able to process a refund and shouldn’t take more than a week. 2-4 weeks or 6 weeks is just stalling.

      • I did contact Paypal afterwards and asked how this is possible. They said it was in the sellers hands but if it happens with my second order, and they don’t agree to refund the difference then we can put through a dispute via Paypal and they will help get the difference back.

  • Paid $319 for the Home 500.
Called Bose, they said that I will be charged over $400. They said that if I have a picture of the invoice, they will process a refund of the difference.

    Should I trust them?
It hasn't been processed and I can cancel this order.

    • +1

The order confirmation is not an invoice from my understanding, so the actual invoice they'll look at is the total they overcharged you with imo.

    • I got an invoice last night at 1.40am for 450.45 for the home 500. In PayPal it's $319.19.

  • My transaction of 159.95 is disappeared in my bank acc today before I send the speaker back. That is fast. LOL….

    • +1

Do you plan to return it? Free speakers!

    • How did you pull that off

      • I dunno, it just happened. I will still return it. lol…..

  • +8

Update: I’m part of the $101.95 group.
I went onto chat to clarify.

I just politely told the rep, hey I bought the speaker expecting price $101.97, is Bose going to honour this & if not can they organise a refund as per a price error.

I was told my speaker would arrive on the 16th.
I was told the speaker should have been sold at $169.95 after discount.
That Bose was aware that there website malfunctioned & would honour the purchase price of $101.97 & would be organising a refund for the difference if I got charged more than this.

According to the rep I spoke to my order will be homered at $101.97, hopefully this information eases the concerns of some here.

    • +2

      order will be homered

      Homer says yes!

      • +1

        Damn, fat fingers.

        • All of Homer is fat!

    • +1

did you pay by paypal, and if so if your status still in the "authorised" stage on paypal?

      • Yep, still $101.97 pending authorisation. It definitely by no means is a sure thing, but we will see.

        • okay cool. cheers for response

    • Strange.. my friend who bought for $101.97 as well went on their live chat an hour ago, asked if they will honor the price of $101.95 and said they'll only refund $10 of the amount being charged for the 20% off…

    • Thanks for the update.:)

  • Question is. Will they ship? My PayPal still authorising.

    • So Bose is telling people they will honour the deal and is expecting to ship out the item soon, but no definitely details on tracking email and email invoice, everything seem to be verbal, and later people found out they got overcharge.

      • +1

Don’t know as it will make a difference, but I asked them to email a transcript of our chat, which they surprisingly did. So I do have the above chat on a Bose sent email, if they end up changing their minds.

        • +1

I copy/pasted mine and took a couple of screen grabs too.

      • From my online chat with them this morning:

"And please doe expect an email from Australia post once order is ready for delivery, with the tracking number included."

Just an FYI on what I was told.

  • +7

This should be a case study for the people studying online marketing.

    "How not to screw up"

    • Who knows that this whole hoora thing might be intended by them
580+ people liking this deal and everyone is talking about it every minute
Well done to the marketing team

      • Who knows that this whole hoora thing might be intended by them

Must be geniuses in that case. Should have made the discount 100% for even more publicity.

  • +5

Just let it get shipped or cancelled and file a PayPal dispute or CC chargeback If they overcharge. They have been given numerous chances to fix the issue with many of us contacting them and have been given different responses.

Personally for me my first call I was told they will escalate it as can see the difference in charge and will receive a call back later that day but never did.

Second call was flat out told management says $159 is the correct price and not willing to do anything.

And now people are being told they will get a refund if overcharged.

With all the different response don’t rely on Bose as what they say take it with a grain of salt. Obviously their management is hopeless.

  • +2

Just play dumb and hope for the best. If they charge more than 101, just turn on rampage mode, i think they will compensate somehow anyway.

    • +2

But my rampage mode is "by asking nicely again."

  • +1

This palaver about refunding the difference in six weeks is just stupid.

If mine ever ships, and I'm charged more than $101.97, then I'm returning it and/or doing a PayPal dispute. This can't go on for 8 weeks of my summer!

  • +2

Am I the only one getting amused by how Bose is handling all this?

    • You most certainly are not! 😁😁😁

  • Same thing as those above

They are going to "honour" the $101.97 AUD charge but initially will take $159.95 AUD from my PayPal and refund the $57.98 AUD in a maximum time frame of 2-4 weeks. I spoke to a representative on live chat (turn off your ad blockers for the live chat icon to pop up on the left side of the screen) and at first they were going to process my refund, but with a bit of insistence and telling them that I have received a confirmation offer via email at $101.97 they said they would refund me the difference. I asked her if she could expedite the refund, and she said she couldn't but the 2-4 week period was at the absolute maximum and It will likely be in before then…take that with a grain of salt though

Rep was very polite, issue was resolved all up in about 10 minutes.

Keep an eye on your Paypal/bank accounts to make sure the refund is processed just to be sure. Take a screen shot of the live chat too, to be extra safe (Windows snipping tool or WIN + Shift + S for the fancy version).

EDIT: as someone said above have them email you a transcript of the conversation, seems like a better way to go

My order should arrive by the 16th of December (Perth)

    • for those that want the transcript there's an option to save it. The + button on the left.

    • The thing is, why are they playing games with the whole pay now refund a portion later?

Why can't they just effing honour the 101 from the get go? LOL

      • Until Bose actually refunds everyone, treat whatever they say with a grain of salt. They keep changing their minds and also they are still trying to charge the higher price until you bring it up and then they will say they will refund the difference in 2-4 weeks.

People may end up still having to chase them for the refund. Better let PayPal just deal with them. I have already open my case with PayPal, so I’m not going to bother dealing with Bose as the customer service are just puppets going off what management tells them they can do which changes everyday.

  • +1

paid by CC and still showing as pending in the transactions page - not going to live chat or contact will just do the request refund trick after a week or two if they dont charge $101.97

  • Gone on the chat, said total is $169, arrival on the 16th. Then I said it’s meant to be 101.97 and he said he has processed the refund for 2-4 weeks. Seems like all reps have been briefed about exactly this.

    • did u get an order confirmation? After i order i only got the paypal charge email no confirmation or anything from bose

      • Yeah email confirmation and PayPal at the same time, check your spam or promotions.

        • damn i didn't have email confirmation only paypal

      • You should have got two emails one from PayPal one from Bose (order confirmation).

  • +2

For me….the transaction is not showing in PayPal activity but it’s showing pending on my linked Cc. I do have confirmation from PayPal as well as Bose. Let’s see where it goes. I think Bose will not process the payment and it will auto cancel after 5 days….but fun to see how Bose is going to handle this.

  • +1

Same response as the rest. Refunded the difference within 2 weeks and will send a confirmation email regarding the refund within 24 hours as they have a lot to send.

Just explain you've got an order confirmation, PayPal and online bank all matching that amount and they'll fix it for you right away.

    Much respect for Bose.

    • Probably would have been respectful if they didn't do a sneaky overcharge to start with.

  • +1

So, $101.97 has been taken from my paypal (no longer pending) so I'm guessing that I will not be paying the extra 40-60.

I haven't received any shipping details though

    • I asked about shipping details. They said I'd get a text / email from Australia Post the day or so it's due for delivery. I've had that sort of thing happen before so fingers crossed.

    • What time did you order?

      • Dec 10th 3.30 pm

        • Similar to mine. Mine's still pending (PayPal).

        • I was an hour and a half before, still pending.

          • @cheaplee: 1:20pm on Dec. 10 and still pending.

      • Sorry for the super late response, it was December 10 1:05pm

    • Hopefully mine stops pending soon as well. I used CC

  • +1

At least this is much less stressful than the Sony A7iii Qantas deal situation
    Still feeling sad

  • +4

Okay for those who have had their order cancelled or you asked for it to be cancelled due to Bose incompetence, you can contact them again and they will process a new order for the initial price of $101.97 that was on the order confirmation. The only down thing is they can only take payment on the phone.. I was a little hesitant at first but decided to go ahead with it. You'll need to provide a screenshot of the order confirmation btw.

Really glad they've done this to rectify the situation! Big up to Bose for honoring this

    • Who said they’re doing this?
