      I’m not sure about the 320 x 240 pixels LCD resolution…

      • +1

True, but you can output to a higher res monitor.
The sensor is 5MP so around 3072 X 1728 Res.

        • you will need to check what the tv output is though. The manual just shows an AV out jack. You will never be able to go anywhere near the 5MP sensor resolution

          • +2

@GregFiona: It takes photos at 5MP, although only records SD video

        • 5MP could mean anything though. I've had 5MP cameras that were terrible and some that are great.

    • Its not as powerful as the one on offer but to the general user it doesn't matter.

    • Mini USB and analogue TV out, yuck!

    • The magnification is only up to 400x. The rest is extrapolated digitally

  • thanks OP

Can someone keep an eye on this for me?

    • +1

I might focus on it for you.

      • +3

I’ll try and scope it out, hopefully it doesn’t come with micro transactions…

        • +1

Please be as objective as you can about it though.

        • Let me know how you go, I don't mind having a look into it.

    • -2

Buy it fast before it zooms out

  • +1

    this is one eye only

    while previous was two eyes

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/476817

not sure which is better for usage though
but the two eyes was more expensive

    • +1

binocular is better imo. It's just feels better but other than that, they are the same.

  • Have a look at Amazon reviews before buying. No experience with the product but it made me hesitant to buy

Upvoted for the GOAT profile pic =D

    • +1

Not sure how he will go next year playing in the halves though

      • I don't think it's going to be an issue he's a master of controlling the game so suited to the position I think. Might take a few rounds of NRL competition for everything to click but I've got total faith.

    Same price @ Catch

  • Shame its not the bifocal one, but tbh I haven't even unboxed mine.

always wanted to look at my little swimmers. thanks OzB..

    • This may actually work.
Require 400x magnification to see swimmers - which this scope supports. Although 1000x will be clearer.

    • Pressed ham?

Given the company is in administration I am not sure you can expect much warranty

    • +1

The warranty should be covered by Celestron - their telescopes are sold Worldwide.

      • +2

Nope, they ask you to go to the local dealer, and that happens to also be the importer as well, which is under administration.

Warranty outside the U.S.A. and Canada is valid only to customers who purchased from a Celestron’s International Distributor or Authorized Celestron Dealer in the specific country. Please contact them for any warranty service.

    • Which company is in administration?

      • Curious Planet

        • Damn hope they don't keep the money from this sale and disappear.

          • +1

@videoman: That's not how administrations work.

          • @videoman: Did you get your item or get refund? Or have they tried to fleech you?

          • @videoman: So far its looking this way!

            • @qtvinsta: I had to do a credit card chargeback after they promised to refund me. They said the refund would take place within 1-3 days but I still didn't get a refund after almost a month. Luckily I did the chargeback because I don't think I would have got the refund otherwise.

  • Thinking of getting into some microphotography of insects and whatnot. Do you think this microscope would be suitable for it?

    • Yeah you'll need a camera mount though or very steady hands.

    • I reckon a stereo microscope would be more suited to looking at whole insects and things like that.
A compound microscope like this you would more use for looking at single-celled microorganisms and other thin things that can be prepared on a glass slide, considering your light source comes from underneath and has to pass through whatever is on the stage.

  • Would it be useful to do electronic soldering work? Just not sure if there is enough room to get a soldering iron? Anyone have any experience with this type of work?

  • Also available same price from Catch. Perhaps there's a discount code or at least cashback on top?

  • thanks. will have a look

  • Can this be used to analyse precum and semen?

    • I mean, it's definitely within the magnification range of this microscope, so I don't see why not

    • +1

Absolutely, and if you did you'd be among scientific pioneers like Antonie van Leeuwenhoek.

  • Girls will think you're really smart if they see this setup in your room.

    • +2

Little do they know it's so I can find my micro penors.

    • +3

How do I get a girl into my room?

      • For that, you will need a telescope 🤪

Sold out and it removed the active unit I had from my shopping cart… quite frustrating

    • Lucky you

  • Ozbargained! Just received email: "… we need to cancel and refund your order for the “Celestron Labs CM2000CF Microscope”. As our Weekend Sale went live, a number of online forums not controlled by Curious Planet urged customers to purchase this item in bulk due to the low sale price. Our stock levels were sadly unable to update fast enough to match rapidly flooding sales as they came in and the product unfortunately oversold."

    • Lucky you too

  • Got the shipping notice and tracking no. It was picked up by Aust Post today so i assume they are sending some out.

  • My order still in 'processing' status… any one else still in limbo? No eta or refund notice?

    • I didn't get my order fulfilled even though i posted this deal. i hope some of you did. it seems like their inventory levels are wrong, my order got sent to my local store and they didn't have this so by the time they returned it to head office it was all sold out. Refund email came today.

      • I had to request a refund after calling local store and finding out no stock to allocate me… wasnt even automatic! That was back on the 13th and i am still waiting for money back! Never ordering from Co-Op bookshop nor Curious Planet again! Hope i get my money back and soon

        • Same. I still haven't received my refund after several follow-ups and after being advised that Customer Care will cease operations indefinitely on the 20-DEC-2019. I lodged a chargeback with my bank today.

          • @onceupon8: Crap… what fraudsters… i better lodge today

          • @onceupon8: I actually received mine, opened it up yesterday after giving it to the kids for Christmas. But it is not new, was covered in dust, has rust and a cracked eyepiece lens. I sent a email to customer service, but didn't realise they've ceased customer care operations. Where did you get that advice? But if that is the case, I'll have to do a chargeback also it seems…

            • @jwh: Well I'm going to sound silly now, but I did some more research and realised the 'crack' is actually a pointer… my mistake. But the rest still stands, the unit is used, covered in dust with some rust on the arm.

      • You are one of the fortunate ones

  • i just had the cb2000cf arrive after ringing a shop to see if any were left. i wanted to swap the lcd one i got. and they did :)

  • +1

Its now the 9th Jan 2020 which is three weeks after initiating a refund and still out of pocket… waiting on outcome of chargeback and also lodge with Fair Trading now because potentially other people purchasing online might end up like me… paying for something and unable to get money back easily if no stock.

    • +1

Finally got the refund paid from Co-Op! Phew

      • How did you get the refund? From the chargeback or the Co-Op?

        • Co-Op refunded to my CC so i notified bank as chargeback no longer required
