8 or 10 in Aldi last week, great speaker though no matter which brand you get, there's a bout 50 claiming to be genuine lol

  • +3

Is this your normal selling price?

No mention of any discounts ??

Why is this a bargain ???

  • +2

Where is the bargain? This seems like just ad advertisement

This seems like just ad advertisement

      it does…

  • taken from their website:

    RRP: $39.90
    Our Price: $25.50

these guys are the real deal quality wise.

RRP means nothing. i.e. Blu-ray RRP in Australia are $39.99 - $49.99, yet you never see or buy them at that price..

      taken from their website:

      RRP: $39.90
      Our Price: $25.50

      Hmmmm… i did some checking…

they normally sell these at $27.90

A bit dodgy crossing out $39.90, then saying now $25.50… Worth a -ve for misleading advertising…

great dick work as always jv!

        • lol, wat?

        • +2

          lol, wat?

          he's referring to last night…

      • Neg for the reasons stated by jv.

      • Aside from the fluctuation of prices, $25.50 is a very good price for genuine x-minis!

$39.90 seems steep but it doesn't surprise me if that is the actual RRP.

Misleading advertising is probably a bit harsh because in the end this is somewhat of a bargain - so the votes should really be for the price in the end

I would definitely spend a bit extra for the quality of the xminis compared to the other copies out there!
        just my 2 cents.

  • anyone got comments on how "genuine"/branded ones stack up against decent generic ones you can pick up say on ebay?

or cos they're all relatively small & there's only so much sound you can wring out of one so they're all much of a muchness?

      puts hand up

Yeah here's the go: x-mini was the first company to come up with this gadget back in 2008-ish, taking out several audio and design awards including red dot for making something small yet so powerful in sound reproduction.

My product cycle: purchased the xmini around release, had that till the xmini 2 came out then gave the first to my cousin overseas who really wanted it. During travels in China, picked up about 4-5 different generic ones as gifts for family/friends who had admired my original xmnis.

The differences: overall sound quality was slightly better on the xminis, especially at high/full volume, where the generics had a tendency to distort. Bass reproduction was also better on the xminis. The biggest thing however was the battery - on a single recharge, the xminis outlived the generics by a mile, in some cases lasting twice as long between recharges.

Conclusion: this is a cheap-ish price for original product and imho worth paying a little extra for. If it was for $25.50 delivered I would definitely have bought another pair. As a reference I purchased my x mini 2 for around $20 after heavy haggling in Malaysia, so getting it here for $25 would be great. If you are going to listen to the speakers at less than 75% volume and for less than a few hours between recharges then save your cash and go generic.

      • Just noticed on XP Micro "No handling fee for pick up" and they are in Sydney. Will definitely swing by for an extra pair at $25 unless someone can find me a cheaper link for originals?

        • I owned the original x-mini and found it was louder at 75% than the x-mini 2??
Have I got a dodgy one?

The current x-mini 2's that I have are very loud if I max out the volume on my iphone and the volume knob on the actual unit….anything below that on either device it's actually quiet soft.

Do you have this "problem" too?

      • you are right. one charge for X-mini can play upto 12-16 hours.
the most important thing is the finishing. that's the different between toyota and lexus.

      • thanks for the reply.

I bought the $14 Divoom itour-10 that was listed on OzB on Jan 2010, and was really happy with that. Lost that on an overseas trip earlier this year and have been itching to get a replacement.

I noted a few weeks ago there was a <$10 generic one from officeworks, and was mighty tempted to get that but upon checking out the quality of the finish…it was a lot worse than the divoom and i quickly put it back on the shelf.

so yeah, i guess what everyone is saying is, you get what you pay for.

thx to djone145 for pointing out below that divooms are on clearance.

the decision i've got to make is whether i get another "toyota" for ~$14, or pay double for the "lexus"

i got these on the weekend

divoom (most places sell for over 20 bucks)

they on clearence and i picked up the last 2 in parramatta

some otehr places that have black and pink
    8-14 bucks

  • read the review for Divoom

    from the websites
    they sound great
bass is not that good, extending it does help
volume can be loud, but at extreme loudness, sometimes goes static
seomtimes if used with a phone can get those weird sounds

    for 10 bucks
    cant really ask for ore

i plugged mines into optus mytab for radio
    sounds great

    • Divoom and X-mini is totally two different level products.
If you got both these two on hand, compare the finishing and the sound qulity, you'll find the different.

  • I got one of these from ebay for under $10 over a year ago with free postage (from china).

    • too many copy one in the market :)
