  • that seems expensive.

Used someone's old post for the title, forgot to change it. It's fixed.

      • +1

oh. nice, not a bad deal then but i have a 2600 so no real improvement for me.

        • I have i7 2600 (4 core, 8 threads) will I see improvement? (I know I have to change motherboards & ram etc. if I go with this)

  • +3

Isn't it just better to go the 3600 for a little more?

  • I was lucky enough to get the Ryzen 7 2700x for $229 when computer alliance was clearing them out. I've had constant temperature fluctuation issues since upgrading from the 1700x. The CPU seems to jump from 30-55c on idle every few seconds. I wish I got the 3600 now!

    • Same with my 3700x. My 2600 was stable though. Seems to be luck of the draw.

      • set your power profile to power saver in control panel, go into advanced and make the min processor state 99% and max 100% - should fix it completely with no problems. drove me crazy when i first got my 3800x but this was the only fix i found… update me if it worked.

        • Hmm can't say I've tried that. The temp still fluctuates in BIOS too which is why I wasn't leaning towards Windows control panel.

          • @mofo789: i see - well after almost a month testing it i can confidently say thats the fix to it.. or as close as possible. idle temps in the 30s and max 45-55 gaming, celsius.

  • geez i paid $422 for mine back in May. if i were me now (wait wut…) i'd pay a bit more to get the 3XXX series over this; mostly for the better ram speed/compatibility.

will be interesting to see Zen 3 improvements though - assuming asus can be arsed creating a stable bios for it

  • The 2xxx series is dead, as is the 1xxx series.

The 3xxx series is like what? at least 5, if not 10% faster in single threaded stuff, this is where the processor was weak, so it really means a lot.

Frankly, I wouldn't consider ANY of the 1xxx series for more than $120 AUD
I wouldn't consider ANY of the 2xxx series for more than $180 AUD - period.

    Just my opinion

    • Yea, nah. This is an excellent part still. If you need a productivity CPU on a tight budget, this is your part.

Nine months ago this thing was going for $450.

This deal deserved way more up-votes.
