      Clearly different products. Useless comment.

      • just trying to save people money. i run jobsites and have the cheap kmart ones used by 100s of tradies all year round and they never break. pay 300% more if you wish, but i thought this site was called oz BARGAIN

Simple solution. Use different (correct) words.

        • @cortex I don't see the fuss. I'm on your side. kmart one simply has a few less features. $79.20 your paying for the brand name and its far away from being a deal.

@RandomFox: Negger of my comments (you, most likely) should grow some.

Find one cheaper and post it by all means. By that "logic" a Great Wall does the same job of transportation as a Mazda, cheap laptops do the same job as Macs….. Looking forward to your insights on headphone deals.

If I was supplying tradies and builders I'd opt for cheap also. Lucky we have a good range of product choice these days eh?

            • @[Deactivated]: So salty and assumptions you started comparing headphone deals to Sandwich Press deals.. and you thought I should grow some lol.

    • I didn't neg you but it's clearly a different product, albeit in the same category. There's lots of cheapies around which do similar jobs if that's what you're looking for.
Edit: lol, the above comment wasn't there when I started. Pays to refresh if you go away for a cup of coffee.

  • Any difference between these presses?

Or it’s just buy whichever you want

    • I've got a cheap one prob equivalent to Kmart. It does the job, but there are hotter spots on the heating plate so for some things it pays to move around as you're cooking. I would hope the Breville has a thicker plate and doesn't have this problem but can't really say.

I’ve got this one and I have to say the crush control works well. I can have a toasted cheese sandwich without all the cheese squishing out the sides. You just need to make sure if you want two sandwiches at the same time, they need to be the same height or the crush control will stop the top plate from reaching the smaller sandwich…unlike my previous one which would do its best to make sure both came out as flat as possible lol.

  • Height control/Crush control makes them a whole different appliance. We use ours all the time just to heat things up.

Tip for gentle warming i.e. for frozen slices ofsourdogh - get the press warmed first, turn it off and then put the slice in (no crush). In 3mins the sourdough is perfect - soft and springy, and warm. Works for loads of things.

  • So this is much more different to the grill contact press?

    • Not much - the one from this deal is smaller and probably not as hot as a regular contact grill. And it's flat, not ribbed. "Crush control" might be the difference, but my cheapish contact grill have a lockable height too. Also, I wouldn't trust it can nicely melt the top without burning the bottom slice - you would probably need an expensive one with two thermostats to do that trick; I simply put toasts under my oven top grill to achieve that.

      Basically, it's a somewhat fancy-looking toaster for almost $80.

      • Roflmao. You turn your toaster on its side to stop the cheese from melting and dropping into the element and tray presumably? How do you go fitting a sandwich with filling in that beast of yours? Plenty of toasters over $80 when I last looked.

        • I'm not sure what are you're on about, but I have something like this: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Cooking/BBQs-and-Grills/GC7850B-C…, but I got it second-hand for $15 and at least I know I should never pay the full price.

Oh, I said that it's a fancy looking toaster. I meant sandwich press-contact grill, whatever the gimmick from this deal is. And my point was it's rather expensive - no offence!

          edit:
Also, when I mentioned melting the top, I meant open toasties / pizzas, not sandwiches. It surely is going to nicely melt things inside a sandwich.

LONG STORY SHORT, if you need this $80 thing to toast your two sandwiches, it's going to be perfect!

          • @pizzaguy: Yes I was ridiculing your last throw-away line. Have you used this product or are you speaking from where the sun don't shine? My money's on the latter.
