Price matched @ JBHIFI yesterday with 4% off RACQ. Very comfy headset with a ridiculous amount of functions and setting. Got an extra 2 year no fuss warranty for $52 extra ($400 in total with 4 year warranty)

    • How does this work with getting the 4% extra off. thanks

      • Racq members get RACQ e-gift cards as a perk. JBHIFI is 4% off so you buy the total amount ($100 gift card and you pay $96)

        • thanks alot, and the extra warranty is just a set price through JB?
          Thanks

@Craigslists: Not to sure if you have an issue message me and I'll send you the receipt mate. He was pretty nice so I'm guessing it's a flat rate.

            • @JoeJoog: Heading over to grab some. JB price matched and done the 2 year warranty for $400 total. thanks mate.

              • @Craigslists: Sweet. I forgot to add if you got a PS4/PC it doesn't come with the Dolby Atmos 2 year sub. Not the end of the world.

                • @JoeJoog: What is that? haha

@Craigslists: It's a windows exclusive Dolby app that appearantly optimises sounds etc it's pretty expensive and has a yearly subscription but just download the astro app and watch a YouTube video on best settings for the a50.

  • I got the Astro A50 gen1 version of these where the charging is via a micro usb cable. Have had it for nearly 4 years now and I have to say I'm disappointed with the material/build. Prior to owning this, I had an Astro Mix Amp, and reason I'm disappointed in material is, similar to my Mix Amp, after 2 years of owning these (and I hardly used them, stored away from sun, pretty well kept IMHO as most of my things are) the rubber on the headset began to feel like it's melting and is sticky, or has that permanent grease layer (like what you find in that corner of your kitchen you never clean). So headset doesn't look/feel that premium when I hold it and always attract dust.
Also something's wonky with the volume control, can't turn volume up/down reliably.

I haven't held these newer versions but after the experience with two Astro products, I will assume material used will be the same and similar thing will happen.

That's just my quick review for anyone considering them. Luckily I got a good deal from JB 4 years ago and bought for $350, but I won't be going back to Astro when these die.

  • I got these after trying a couple of "Cheaper" headsets. Didn't get them this cheap though. Love mine, I actually end up wearing them while watching media on the Xbox, instead of switching on the home theatre. Super comfy, and I find with the fabric ear surrounds I don't get all sweaty like with the pleather ones.

  • Great deal!! Love astros had them for years n years, Gen1 then Gen3.

  • Thanks OP! In the market for new headphones and I wasn't even considering the A50s because of the price. Price matched @ JB :)

  • Better getting them from Harvey Norman or price matched by JB HiFi? or whoever is closer? thanks

  • Anyone managed to get JB to price match an Xbox set for PS4 price?

Gamesmen have them on ebay at $408 with 15% off bringing it down to $347 for XBOX and PS4 might be an option if JB wont do it.

      • sold Thanks so much! I'd love to support Gamesmen, avoid that conversation at JB and stay home playing Pokemon.

        And it's one dollar cheaper!
