Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER WindForce OC 8GB $679.20 Delivered @ FTC Computers eBay

PITCH20

This is my first post, figured I'd share this purchase in the case anyone else is in the market for a good UHD or QHD card at a sub $700 price point. I know that there is a Inno3D GeForce RTX2070 SUPER Twin X2 OC deal for $655.20, however, from my research this model is very most likely worth the additional $24.

This card runs very cool, overclocks easily to gain another 8% performance, has great warranty, and is super quiet.

it outpaced the RTX 2070 FE thanks to its increased core count and elevated boost clocks. This lead in performance expands even more once the Gaming OC is overclocked. Overclocking was quite easy, adding 115 MHz to the core and an additional 75 MHz to the memory moving it from 1750 MHz to 1825 MHz GDDR6. The resulting boost speed of 2160 MHZ pushed the performance very close to that of a stock RTX 2080 FE which is very impressive.

I was considering a 2080 variation, but I can't justify it for 1440 when this is half the price and will be more than up to the task. The real-world testing seems to indicate roughly 6-15 frames difference in frames between many 2080 variations and this card at 1440, so potentially not worth another $700. This seems to be one of if not the all-time low price for this particular card also. I found these reviews among others very informative:

This video was well worth the watch too:

Edit: As some comments have correctly stated, these reviews are for the Gaming OC 3X variation. From what I can tell, and others have reported, the only difference is that Gaming OC has a thicker heatsink (2.25 slot rather than 2 slot), and RBG's. The WindForce has ZERO RGB's, I was a fan of this because I have a stealth build.

shame that FTC don't seem to be apart of the free SSD promotion https://au.aorus.com/event-detail.php?i=1223

    • Wow. So can we claim that? Or not?

      • +1

        maybe ask FTC

      • +1

They're not listed in the official seller's list, so no.

        Rules:
        1. This promotion is only open to Australia residents.
        2. Purchase from eligible reseller is required:

        • T.T. Dammit. Thx

          • +3

@MDSUXKS: I contacted both FTC and Gigabyte ANZ, they both confirmed that FTC is eligible for this free SSD promo.

            • @fezzo: Really? OMG thank you very much for that. So should I just go to the website and fill in the details or I need some info from FTC? Since they website doesn't appear on the retailers list.
              Thx again

              • @MDSUXKS: They appear on the retailer list now. You just need your tax invoice from FTC. Did they send you one?

                • @fezzo: Ok I will try now. It probably coming with the graphic card since it didn't arrived yeat but will on Monday.

                  • @MDSUXKS: I had to ask for one through ebay, they sent one through very quickly

Decent price for RTX 2070S but just keep in mind that this is the Windforce OC version and not the Gaming OC which is the one in the reviews linked. This has has a smaller heatsink and will run hotter and louder. Personally i would pay a little more for better cooler.

    • +1

What's the lowest price for the gaming oc version?

      • $703.2 @FTC

    • +3

As an owner of this exact card I can promise you that it neither runs hot or loud. I'm running it OC'ed and mainly play Assetto Corsa Competizione at locked 120fps on a 5120x1440p (ultraswide) screen with mainly epic settings (a few mid/highs) and it is an immense card.

      • Just to confirm, you are an owner of the WindForce OC, or the Gaming OC?

        • +2

Windforce OC, the hottest it has ever reached its 68°c during a 4 hour session in my hot garage (mine is setup on a racing simulator in the garage and I use Shield TV in the media room to stream games to the TV)

          • @[Deactivated]: Awesome. I upgraded for use with the Shield too, 1070 wasn't cutting it! For people not interested in RBG's the WindForce is probably a better deal.

            • @mfauser: Shield TV is great, it works flawlessly but the only issue I do have is that it doesn't work without the screen on my PC being turned on (apparently because of Windows and display ports, if you're using HDMi it isn't an issue but I need to use DP) if I turn off my PC screen the TV loses image signal.

          • @[Deactivated]: Which Windforce OC? The 3X version or RGB?

              • @[Deactivated]: I'm truly glad your card runs cool and quiet because I've heard some people say it doesn't have good thermals. I'm sorry for saying this in advance because I was actually seriously considering buying that same card (Gigabyte Windforce 3X Rtx 2070 Super) but looking from the GPU's official website, I can see it has a smaller heatsink than the RGB version and Gaming OC. It also has 1 less heat pipe than the RGB variant and Gaming OC. I've actually ordered/bought the GPU a few days ago but I requested an order change/refund for an Asus ROG Strix 2070 Super (standard version) instead, which costs 50 bucks more. I just hope I made a good decision.

  • Really keen on this card, have time until my new watercooling loop goes together so waiting for a better price

  • +1

    @mfauser
Just fyi, a 2080 super can be had for less than $1000, so it's not an extra $700. Even then it's still not worth it.

    • +1

Indeed, probably still not worth it. Furthermore, most of the 2080 sales have been the really dodgy models that you wouldn't want to go near (MSI Ventus).

      • True. The next gen only being few months off and rumoured to be cheaper, I feel like waiting for the 3000 series, for the cheap second hand cards. If the 10 series second hand prices are anything to go by, I expect to see the 2070 super going for about $300 in a year.

        • I'm still on the 9 series, guess I can hold out a bit longer!

  • FIY this is not the same card in the reviews mentioned in op. I have the same card and its thermal performance is terrible.

    • +1

Gaming OC has a thicker heatsink (2.25 slot rather than 2 slot) and RBG's, other than that, I don't think there is much difference and both models are somewhat lottery-based like many GPU's. In the early days, there were a lot of RMA's for both the Gaming and WindForce from what I can tell. This has since been resolved. I have updated the main post.

  • The Gaming OC variant is also available through the same seller for $703.20. Use your own judgement as to whether the additional OC (1815MHz vs 1785MHz) and slightly thicker heatsink is worth it. (link)

Edit: This is slightly cheaper than the variant in the description (-$8), and has the inclusion of a Type-C port.

Cheers, got one. The SSD promo really sold it to me.

    • Have you received a tracking number that's started moving?

      • Very slow shipping…

The tracking number is just a generated tracking number, go to the actual tracking link and see if they have picked it up or not.

        • Yep. I think they might waiting for more stock…

  • I think this title should be modified to include the SSD as well - this is a good deal!

  • Shame it sold out, it's one of the few 2 slot 2070 Supers out there.

  • Has anyone got a tracking number that has shown movement? I was looking at how many were sold and I'm a bit sceptical whether they have enough stock without getting their customers to wait. I got a tracking number but it isn't scheduled for pick up till Friday….

    • Yep, I've got an active tracking number. I bought mine before this deal was even up (off the back of another FTC deal) and its taking a little longer than the estimated delivery. Hang in there friend.

      • What was the time difference between your order date and actual courier pickup from FTC and then the time to delivery?

        • +2

So it was 3 business days from purchase that it was picked up (although I ordered late on a Friday) and the estimated delivery was 4 business days (but now we're at 5 days and it's still on its way).

    • +1

I'm in the same boat, scheduled for pick up on Friday.

Can you reply when yours is picked up?

It looks like this is going to be a slow process.

      • lol still nothing… they're definitely selling stock that they don't have.

        • What a waste of time buying from these guys.

        • Tracking indicates that this STILL hasn't been picked up. I messaged them on eBay and they replied with a sus excuse stating something along the lines of "There has been a delay because a shipment was lost, but it was found, and it will be delivered soon." like wtf?! Very dodgy seller. After this, I won't be dealing with them ever again.

          • @Bebopp: Yeah.. Mine just got picked up so it'll be interesting to see what I get..

            • @richh1833: Mine was delivered today. But because of work I have to wait till saturday to pick it up…

  • -1

  • Ordered Nov 24, on my table today.

    • Did you get a tax invoice?

      • No, I didn't. The card is running awesome though. A little bit of coil whine at higher FPS, but I'm not sure if this can be avoided.

  • Anyone had any luck with the SSD redemption?

    When I try it says:
Ineligible product information. Please try again or contact GIGABYTE eSupport

But it's clearly in the list of eligible products
    https://au.aorus.com/event-detail.php?i=1223

    • Contact them via their FB page.

Maybe it's been submitted already by someone else?

      • looks like there's some system upgrade going on and they forgot to put a message on the page… so will try again tomorrow.

  • Well, mine has already failed on a new build with all new parts. Starting RMA process through ebay returns.

  • Have had no luck with redeeming the SSD, always get an error message, no response from support

    • has been sorted out now
