  • with discount available on packages.

This is Ozbargain, do you want to tell us what the discount is?

    • +2

Hello, discount on packages varies but usually are between 5 to 10$ per hour discount depending on the number of hours booked. This Ozbargain deal is not about the packages discount but on the fact that you have only for a temporary time, 15% across all the price published on the site.

  • Hi OP, is it cheaper to do manual car lessons or buy a cheap 2nd hand manual car to practice? Thanks

    • +2

Hello, that's a good question. I think driving lessons will be cheaper…
If you have already your driving licence and are allowed to drive, you may just need 2 to 5 hours of lessons depending on how quickly you will pick up the manual driving skills. So it is roughly between $120 to $300 for the lessons.

I am not sure you can get a car for that price… but I could be wrong :-)

OP does marketing for the driving school so of course they're gonna say lessons haha. I feel like doing both would be a good idea, learning on someone elses clutch and then practicing in your own cheap manual car.

      • Yes I agree, I am tight at the moment

        • I have a better idea; go rent some cars on Carnextdoor for a very short amount of time, and you pick it and and return it without even having to meet the owner. Find a friend or a neighbour to give you a few lessons and buy them a small gift.

          • @gmail92: ahaha.. or simply book an hour with a professional instructor who will teach you properly how to drive a manual car…. ;-)

            • @Driverli: I've done lessons for cheaper before shopping around, so I don't think it's particularly a bargain. I'm sure you can do much better than 15%, especially if you are trying to market around here.

@gmail92: Thanks, however we do rely on qualified and high quality driving instructors who come with a cost. Yes, you can find some instructors charging you 45$ per hour but their interest is just to get you pass the driving test, that's it. We are all about driver safety and given the cost of an instructor today, the 15% off of our standard prices is, in fact, a real bargain.

                • @Driverli: If your value proposition is driver safety, where is the proof?

If you can offer Melbourne for $45, you can charge $45 an hour for the other states.

                  • @gmail92: Hello, as explained in another comment in this thread, Melbourne has always been a bit cheaper than Sydney or Brisbane. This is how the market is set up and we are just following it. Now $45 is a bargain and not sustainable from a business point of view, hence this offer on Oz Bargain for a limited time.
                    Best

              • @gmail92: Car hires mostly have auto cars…

  • "Discount applies if you post a driving question in the Ozbargain forums"

    • ahah.. no, this is not required :-)

  • In the instructor's car, or the learner's car?

    • Hi, this is always in the instructor's car as the cars are fitted with a dual control system allowing the instructor to brake if needed.

Thanks OP, I just signed up for a 10-hour package lesson.

Why Melbourne is cheaper than the others?

    • Hello, because the average hourly market rate have always been cheaper in Melbourne than Sydney or Brisbane… not something we've setup as it has been always like this. Cheers

  • Trying to pay with Amex and it says "user response missing". Any fix? I want to buy this
