Just in time for my Disney+ sub!!

    • +1

      Haha….yep! Time to restock :)

    • +7

Until you mentioned it, I sort of hadn't realised the Disney+ app will support in-app subscription like Netflix used to do, but no longer does because they don't want to give Apple a cut.

App store subscriptions are great because they give you full control and don't hide the cancel links on obscure web pages (or make you call a phone number like dreaded magazine subscriptions).

      Thanks for the reminder.

20% off $8.99 / month is pretty good, for the Star Wars content alone — all of Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, Rebels, 4K Star Wars trilogy, etc.

I assume we get all that in .au?

      • +1

        We will.

        Also, it's cheaper to do a yearly sub at $89.99 - works out to $7.50/month. At 20% off, that's $72 for 12 months, or $6.00/month. :)

        • oh thats awesome! going to sign up for a year for sure now!

      • I just signed up for the yearly sub and it’s paid via my iTunes Store credit.

    • How would that work?

    • +1

lifehacker.com.au says we can watch Star Wars IX and Frozen 2 (on release date) on Disney+ when the channel launches? For real?! /grainofsalt

      • Link please? I couldn't find the article on their website or any other news service

To give you an idea of the enormity, here's what's confirmed to be on the service when it launches:
          Upcoming Releases
          Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
          Frozen 2
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Basically Lifehacker has said that the service will have these movies when it launches, but that's obviously not true since it didn't launch with these titles.

Upcoming releases means it could be on the service at the normal streaming times.

Unless there is another link to a different article confirming this which I couldn't find

@Zythyx: Looks like great news for the 12 to 15 year olds!

      • No way that will happen.

      • Not theatrical. Disney + will have a window for release also. They will still want to get sales from vod and physical first. They would be stupid to canabilise their own income stream.

    • +2

Just in time for my Nigerian prince. I save even more 👌

      • +2

Great… now i can pay my ATO debt off quicker! The caller from India said that was the way to do it!

        • HA HA HA

    • Disney+ sub isnt life locally yet is it? Was planning on doing the 1 year and use these 20% cards. Already have a fairly decent credit on my account. May as well add another $100 to cover Netflix.

      • Nope, goes live this coming Tuesday.

        • Sweet. Hanging out. Could have signing up via us but figured I will just wait.

          • +1

@hazzad: I've signed up. Take up the 7 day free trial and then it will renew after the trial ends using your iTunes credit. Just make sure you sign up on an Apple device.

I'll be stocking up on the 20% off iTunes cards as well.

            • @kunfushun: might want to change your password if you've used it before for another site they got hacked already lol

              • @Mooncakes: They havent been hacked. Just that some people use the same passwords for other sites which have been hacked

            • @kunfushun: Thanks for that info!
There’s a 1 year membership in there yeah?

    • +1

What’s the correlation between the iTunes credit and Disney+? I can’t find an app for it on iTunes?

      • It will be on the AU store either Monday night or Tuesday.

    • -1

      Heard of Plex and UseNet?

      • +2

Not being difficult, but don't you still have to pay for the good UseNet channels/locations?

So…why not just subscribe to Disney+ legit?

    • thanks for the reminder…

    • How do I use Itunes card to subscribe to Disney+?

  • +1

Yay! Thanks nocure I’ve been waiting for a 20% off deal for iTunes!

  • -6

20% discount off my tax debt!

    • +9

Congrats for being the fist poster of the same old lame joke in this deal.

      • i still don';t get the joke. captain pls?

        • -1

The joke is that the ATO doesn't really accept iTunes cards.

However, they do accept Bitcoin, so you can buy $1000 Bitcoin today and next week when the Bitcoin is worth $2000 you've paid off your tax debt for free.

What people don't know is that the ATO will use the BTC number to backtrace you through the blockchain and send uniformed police officers to your house within half an hour to arrest you for unpaid capital gains tax.

          So now you know.

    • -2

      How?

    • I was just wondering where the "perfect for the ATO" comment was and you didn't disappoint. Or, more precisely, you did.

  • +1

Can you use gift card to purchase iTunes cards?

    • No. They stopped allowing this a while ago. You can't purchase gift cards using gift cards.

      • Would you happen to know if this also applies to flybuys dollars?

I suspect it’s treated exactly the same, but thought I’d ask.

        • +1

Can't buy iTunes gift cards with Flybuys dollars.

    • I was able to last time they had this sale a few months ago despite comments saying it wouldn’t work. Maybe try your luck.

  • +5

    Officeworks to price match!

    • Do they price match gift cards?

      • +3

They will price beat by 5%. Did this recently for some Event cinema gift cards advertised at Aldi.

        • +1

They will match the promotion to the dollar so they won't need to price beat.

    • +1

      You mean, price beat?

      • +2

No they usually match the price (so you can't price beat).

        • +1

YMMV, but I can assure you that they price beat gift cards for me within the last month.

          • +3

@DrRalph: They're suggesting that by the time the Coles deal starts, Office Works will have the same promotion so they do not need to do the price beat.

          • +3

@DrRalph: Maybe read before you reply. Or lets wait and see what price Officeworks are selling ITunes cards in 3 days time, OMG they’re having a 20% off too! Who would have thought.

    • Wonder if you walk into officeworks the night before just before midnight and then checkout at 12.00am whether they would give you the extra 5% price beat or if their systems update real time.

Chances are the dude at the counter would be like just get out at 11.50pm as they want to go home.

Assume there aren’t any OW open past midnight?!

  • -7

ok, in 2 days,,. but where?

    • +3

      @ Coles.

  • Can you use flybuys points to pay?

    • Can't see why not.

    • +3

Won't let you purchase gift cards with Flybuys Dollars. I've tried.

    • +3

If you purchase something, say a $1 loaf of bread you can use your flybuys $10 off shop…. so essentially you will get a further $9 off the gift cards.
Best value would be to do this on the $30 cards so would would be getting it at 50% off…. 20%=$6 plus the additional $9 off = $15

  • -7

Where was this deal when I payed $1000 to ATO in iTunes gift cards?

    • +1

See a comment above lame joker.

      • Did he really crack it because no one liked his joke?

  • Any idea when Google Play Cards will go on special?

I use them for EPL (Optus Sport) and found out I could use them to pay for an Uber so I drained the balance :(

    • Been a long time since I've seen google play cards on sale.. Usually eBay sale and no more than 10-15%…

    • +1

They were 20% off at Woolworths a few months back.
      They're much rarer than iTunes.

  • +1

Sorry for the dumb question: I have a few app subscriptions, that have recurring direct debit payments. Is there a way to use these 20% off iTunes cards towards ongoing subscriptions, without disrupting the recurring nature of the payments.
Sorry, have no idea how to do it.

    • Don't believe you can.

When I Had Netflix, I had to cancel the subscription and begin a new one using iTunes Cards.

    • +4

Do those app subscriptions use your default iTunes payment method? If so, just adding the credit onto your account will default to that.

    • +3

You have to have set up the subscription in iTunes, so the payment is thru iTunes. Once you have redeemed your card thru iTunes, your account registers the value of the card and uses it up before taking from your credit card.

      • +2

That’s correct, the first preference is always credit however with a current / live subscription it will not allow you to remove the credit card.

      • Thanks all!

  • Just in time for that weekly bonus 10000 points

    • +4

iTunes cards usually excluded from the bonus points promotions

      • +1

        U right… Just checked T&C… Bugger

  • Would i able to subscribe to Disney+ with iTunes via a computer?

  • Can I use iTunes cards for Disney+, then watch it on my Android?

    • +2

Yes because you’d be using your Disney+ log in and not your Apple ID.

      • Awesomeness

    • Sign up on an Apple device to sub via iTunes. Then login with the account you created on your other devices.

There is a 7 day free trial that you can take up, upon sign up, it should tell you that it will auto renew after trial with your iTunes credit.

      • I signed up through the website on windows, is there anyway to get the iTunes billing to pop up? I am on an apple device. I only get CC or PayPal as options.

        • +1

Unfortunately not. You must sign up through an Apple device to get the iTunes billing option or get someone you know to do it for you.

          • @MaximumEffort777: Ah ok, Frustrating. Guess it's time for a new ipad account

            • @PlagueistheCheap: How do you get a new iPad account? I'm wanting to share my subscription with others, so a new iPad account sounds like a good idea

          • @MaximumEffort777: Can you sign up with an Android device via iTunes and use the gift cards? Or is iTunes just an Apple thing? Sorry, I don't know much about the Apple ecosystem!

  • +14

Oh how I long for the days of those Harvey Norman 50% off promos!

  • When do the iTunes cards usually expire? If I bought them this week would they still be ok to use to sign up to Disney+ next month? (As a Christmas present)

    • I don’t think they have an expiry and they’d certainly be OK if redeeming next month.

  • +3

Awesome timing before Disney+ and Xmas… Thanks OP

  • -7

Are these good for the ATO? I don't want the FBI to arrest me

  • Can I subscribe to Disney+ using a macbook's app store? I don't have any apple devices otherwise.

    • +2

If you can get into iTunes (or Music these days) then yes.
