    TA codes are exclusive to Cashrewards and will not commission elsewhere. Don't think the cashback will apply with Shopback

    • Duh. Ta for correction

  • Are there any brick and mortar stores that sell the x1 carbon? I’d like to check it out in real life before deciding whether to purchase

      Officeworks has the gen 6 by looks of it. Gen 7 would be pretty much identical or have minimal differences. I have a gen 1 and gen 4, both great machines.

      • Oh great, thanks. The missus spilt wine on her laptop and now the trackpad doesn’t work, she’s been using an external mouse. I’m trying to decide whether to get an xps or x1 carbon as a replacement machine. On paper, I like how the x1 has the old USB port and 14” screen.

          If you ask me, the X1 would be overkill and costly if it's likely to get abused. Better off with a base Surface Laptop which are currently on sale - https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/surface-laptop-3/8vfggh1r9… - or something much cheaper - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495269

          • @neo: Oh wow, tthanks for the suggestion, that’s super helpful. he surface looks good, I didn’t realise they made actual laptops (I thought they only did tablets). It looks like the surface laptop has a proper operating system and can run normal (desktop) versions of ms office. I’m guessing the CPU is good enough to run stacks of internet tabs and various applications (word, excel, adobe reader) in the background. I can’t find the chipset ID, it just says 10th gen intel core i5… in any event, the current laptop she’s using has a haswell chip (maybe 4th gen), so i’m guessing the surface laptop will be better. Are these assumptions correct (I.e., normal ms operating system, normal ms office suite (if you pay for the perpetual licence), adequate cpu for heavy web browsing). No need for gaming/graphics.

            Edit. Found cpu chipset (1035G7) will run geekbench comparisons later.

              @Worf: Absolutely will handle quite a lot that you throw at it and yes it's full operating system so will run normal applications/software. If you need more grunt you could always get the i7 version with 16GB RAM as well.

              Everyday surfing the i5 with 8GB RAM would suffice.

                @neo: Cool thanks heaps!

  • Is there a cap?

    • According to T&C's, max of 3 units

      • Meant a cap to the amount of cashback we can get :P

  • What's the catch? Why would this company just give 14% of a new laptop back, in cash? I skipped out when it asked for my mobile number when signing up (I already have enough spam going to my mobile thanks, if its for "2fa" I can turn it on later…).

      Have you really never heard of cash rewards and shopback? You've had 56 posts so that's strange. It's the baseline discount to all ozbargain deals.
