This is the cheapest I have seen an ABC Reading Eggs 12 Month subscription.
$47.95 which is a 40% discount of the normal $79.95 fee, 30% off is much more common.

End of year is probably their least busiest time.

This does not include MathSeeds.

To take up this offer, create a account and then follow the link.

For those wanting combined Mathseeds, currently you can get both for $79.95

the iPad app is great but laggy as hell for us.

The app is terrible constantly crashes buggy as hell! Complete waste of money check the reviews before you buy.

We had no problems at all with Reading Eggs on desktop browser

Same pretty much no problems, there's been the occasional bugs but we either help the kids get past it, or restart the app.
We're running the app on the iPad.

@thankyou38 what are you running it on?

I see this app in the classroom almost every single day. It is not worth your child's time.

Learn with Homer app is better.

    Reflex Math for math facts.

I don't know why schools push reading eggs so hard, it's crap … Almost impossible to use on an android tablet. I thought the iOS app would be better, but it's still garbage. There's one positive review of the desktop browser above, but I guess that's a pretty limited use-case in this day and age.

Will definitely check out Homer app and Reflex Math!

I also like Raz Kidz (by Learning A-Z) and Nelson PM eCollection. They don't have a "game-ification" component, but they're solid apps for home reading.

      • Mathletics is the other app our school pushes … it's not great, but it aligns well with the syllabus and is usable on a bunch of devices/platforms.

    • Are Homer and Reflex Math apps free? If not, what's the annual price if you don't mind sharing?

Homer seems to be $11.99/month on the google play store.

I had a brief look at it and it seems to work fine (which is more than I can say for reading eggs). I think a non-reader after 3-5 will get the most benefit from it. From what I can see, there's limited benefit for kids that are already reading. I'm a little outraged by the pricing … There isn't anything worth $12/month in the app - look at what else you can buy for that price, netflix, apple arcade, office 365. Needless to say, I wont be continuing past the free trial.

Relfex Math is US$35/year for a single student - App looks decent. I'd probably do a few months of trials before paying for it though.

What pronunciation and accent does the learn with homer app use?

  • Does anyone know the price for a reading eggs + mathseeds subscription?

Considering the proliferation of Reading Eggs I am surprised on how badly developed the application actually is. It is almost unusable on current generation ios devices (sloooooooow)and not much better on android. As others mentioned it is a little better on the "desktop/web" version.

I had to cancel my membership as loading and general waiting times made the app too frustrating to use, which is a shame.

    • not much better on android

I think it's a race to the bottom to see which is worse - iOS or Android…

  • Is this a referral link? Is there just a code that can be provided?

    • +1

It's a link received via email, no code required, just follow the link

My kid uses it on browser on an old android device. A bit buggy at times but she figures it out.

It's helped her with spelling, reading and maths (mathseeds) heaps, jumping reading levels really quickly since having access to this.

On another e-learning note for Brisbane residents
The Brisbane City Council offer a program called, Busy Things via their portal, under the For Kids section.
Enter your Library Barcode and away you go.

  • Thanks!

Reading eggs has been excellent for both my kids that have used it after turning 3.

Running on lowish spec android tablet ~$200 on 8" screen, I set it up with icon from home screen that opens up reading eggs in full screen through browser. You'll want full screen so they don't press other stuff by accident, otherwise no major issues.

From the other comments YMMV, but definitely worth a shot.

  • Does anyone know if this will piggy back onto my current subscription (finishes early next year)? Thanks

    • +3

      Yes it does.
      Mine expires 2021 now.

      • Thanks!
