It's a straight one-for-one replacement, with up to 20 max per customer. These are heavy duty carbon-zinc batteries, that are (according to Battery World) perfectly suited for smoke detectors.

    I use lithium so my family can live in 10 years without changing the battery

    Zinc batteries are good for low power draw appliances like smoke alarms.

  Free's free so plus vote… but as mentioned don't go cheaper/free batteries for smoke alarms.
  Kids toys etc fine, but stick with good brand name batteries for smoke alarms.

  I would only use these where you have them hard wired. Luckily I have 7 in my house that need replacing, great timing.
