This has higher specs (16gb ram) than the previous 5593 deal, and is cheaper. With cashback and code it is probably below 1000 now.
No USB-C charging though
Edit: $1011 with code

Nice deal. Comes to $1011 with the code plus an extra 4% with shopback so could change the title to $1011 as above.
cashrewards would not work using codes or coupons not on their website, am I wrong?
Can't edit my comment, but Cashrewards cash back is at 4.2% but they may or may not honour it as the code is not listed on Cashrewards or shopback.
shopback now offering 11% cashback on Dell.
How do you tell if promo code SPECIAL100 is approved by shopback?
What a nice deal. Very well speced for the price.
How did you find the code? And would Cashrewards work using this code?
SPECIAL100 is unlisted and I think it's an EPP (Employee Purchasing Program)code. You will not get cashback if it's not listed. Not sure where the code comes, it's not in our system from but it is listed on Honey and other coupon sites.
Does anybody know if Dell and/or Lenovo are eligible for Price Protection?
Because technically it's not .com.au - it's .com / au ??
Dell have their own 30 day price protection.
But I have claimed price protection with 28 Degrees on Dell. Don't know about your card though.
Mine is 28D as well, nice to know the 30 days but 12 months is way better :)
How long ago did you claim? They had some sort of rebranding recently dunno if anything changed
The last time I did it was a few months ago.
BTW, you can double dip on both of their price protections.
With a Dell advantage coupon I was able to get a $235 power bank for almost free.
How's the screen. Is it FHD IPS
Hmm not that clear… probs LCD ?
https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/help-me-choose/cp/hmc-lcd-di…
Man I'd hope it's LCD. Would be really awkward if it turned out to be a CRT or projection screen
"15.6-inch FHD(1920x1080) Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Non-touch Display Narrow Border"
From the spec list. Not sure on the pannel type, I'd imagine it's decent given the rest of the specs though. Either IPS or a higher tier TN.
It's Dolby Vision. Which must be far superior to any other technology like IPS or VA
not sure if this is sarcasm or not…
I just had a chat with Dell Representative. As per him it's LCD Screen.
That tells nothing. IPS screens are also LCD.
The only thing that isn't LCD is OLED and Plasma. Plasma laptops aren't a thing, and this definitely isn't OLED.
Basically we want to know if it's an IPS or a TN screen
It’s mid tier tn
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/au/en/audhs1/inspiron-1…
This says its a IPS Panel
220 NITS
400:1 contrast ratio
NTSC 45%
Is that good or bad?
this says it's IPS
https://www.dell.com/ng/p/inspiron-15-5593-laptop/pd
nothing on how bright the screen is though
whats this i7-1065G7 is it 8th gen 9th gen or what
thanks
AKA Intel really screwing up their naming conventions more.
Would have been near almost impossible to just oh, I dunno, click the link and read description. Or what.
10th gen
Why is this guy downvoted for asking a question?
Now, why is this guy down-voted for asking a question?
Lulz
OZB trolls! That's who
Am I correct in saying that there's no Thunderbolt 3? I thought this series had an integrated TB3 controller?
Excellent question, really want to know the answer to this as well. I remember 10th gen was bringing WiFi 6 and Thunderbolt 3 built into the chip..
It has thunderbolt 3 as the i3 version here says it does: https://gadgets.ndtv.com/dell-inspiron-15-5000-5593-price-in…
All ice lake processors come with thunderbolt 3 i think.
Thunderbolt is on Vostro 7000
What about HDMI 2
This or the Lenovo Legion Y530
Edit
MX230 seems to be pretty useless for any games. Though the i7-1065G7 is pretty fast
Same question
This is not for gaming
Is this good for 4k video editing?
Wouldn't the Lenovo Legion Y530 be a better machine all round?
That one only has i5-8300H and a 8GB mem though?
Processor Base Frequency 1.30 GHz :O
Oh my gosh, what does that mean? Is the laptop worthless now? sarcasm
No, It just amazed me :)
Good or bad..?
@capslock janitor: I don't know, Not bad for 15W TDP 4 core 8 thread CPU, isn't it ?
Still using a i3-4030U CPU in my HP laptop with no worries (even used for FEM analysis sometime back) :)
Would this be good for a hackingtosh? Looking for a well specd laptop for running the Mac os
Isn't it really hard to get Mac OS working on a Windows based laptop?
Thought hackintosh couldn't run on modern NVIDIA cards
Battery life?
Google search?
FYI, It’s 1.83kg.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/467154
that was awesome
No touch screen :(. Still good deal
I forget my laptop has a touchscreen, never used it,hate fingerprints on screens. 🤓
Premium Plus protection is for $276. It says accidental cover included for 3 years. Does it mean if it is broken due to my mistake they will fix it give new one? Planning to buy for my son's school and very certain he will break in a year or so. Has anyone taken this cover before? What's included in it?
I haven't taken the cover before but just want to mention that a 15" laptop is not very good for school. 1.8kg is a lot to carry back and forth every day. It doesn't sound like much weight but a laptop makes a huge difference once it's in the backpack.
Agreed, get a 14 incher instead.
Thanks. Couldn't find good deal like this in 14 inch.. need i7 and 16 gb ram and 256gb ssd.. for 14 inches prices very high nothing close to $1000
The Lenovo E495 is pretty good and can upgrade to 16 GB RAM for about $45. Certainly powerful enough for school
Just read the terms VERY CLOSELY. Be 100% positive it states things like dropping, sitting on it, etc…The salespeople aren't responsible as far as the insurer is concerned.
I say this as I know a woman who bought expensive insurance for an overseas trip. The arrangements were through USA travel group and about a week before the day to leave, they went chapter 11.
Guess what her insurance didn't cover?
does this have twice as much RAM as https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/486968
Couldn't find a tear down video, how hard is it to add/replace to a larger drive? (can't customise this deal) Thanks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0eTnlOQFE
This video should show you how to upgrade and/or add a 2.5" SSD drive alongside the existing M.2 inside Inspiron 500 series.
Anyone has experience it in shipping sooner than:
Ships in 15–18 business days
Does anyone ordered and received the Laptop yet?
Mine got cancelled by Dell BUT they still selling the same model on their online store?
This or the ThinkPad E595 deal for $250 less.
Or wait see what deals are on offer on Monday
Would also like to know this!
Might check out singles day 2018 and see if laptops were a thing.
Pull the trigger now or wait 3 months for Ryzen 4500U
10th Gen Intel U series > 3rd Gen Ryzen U series
But honestly not sure how the 4th Gen Ryzen U series will perform.
Graphics APU on 4500U is supposed to be about twice as fast as Nvidia MX230
CPU performance will probably be slower than i7-1065G7 though not a huge difference.
I believe that's a big claim, but time will tell I guess
oes anyone ordered and received the Laptop yet?
Mine got cancelled by Dell BUT they still selling the same model on their online store?
I got a call from Dell and they told me there was going to be a delay and it will be only available by the end of November. They asked if I wanted to cancel the order or wait for it to be available. I told them I can wait. Haven't received an update yet.
Isn't it $1011 after the code, if so the title may need updating to highlight the great offer (imo)
