I was after a relatively cheap Android to hold me over for a couple of months until I can get on another contract and came across the Xperia X8 at Optus ($99 in their clearance section) which is about $40 - $50 cheaper than anywhere else I could find it. Might be worth a look if you are after a cheap droid…

as per GSMArena, Looks like same processor for x10 mini and x8. but x8 has bigger screen. so I think, a better option. If you need a smaller, then go for mini.

You can install Froyo 2.2 on it. There are numerous ROMS floating around on the internet.

HVGA (320x480) is SOOO much better than QVGA (240x320) for android! Thris is the first (to my knowledge) HVGA Android to this pricepoint!
