I think you accidentally added an extra 9 in the price

    • Just remove all the 9’s, and it becomes $12 (normally $15) + $10 shipping. Sounds a lot better now.

      i wish they were $129

Hi Op. How many of these would you recommend for my 100m yacht?

  • +2

good price, i have had a few pairs of these over the years and they are fantastic.

typical second hand price is $1000-$1200

    • +2

can i ask which amp you have these paired up to ?

  • +1

Awesome price, as above this is second hand pricing. Love my pair.

Currently SMSL AD18 HIFI Audio Stereo Amplifier, previously a TEAC AI-101DA off Mass Drop. Bedroom and Desk.

Temporarily off multiple slimline Marantz receivers in bigger rooms, but they struggle in those conditions off those Receivers, not as obvious when running on a Big Desk or in a Bedroom where you aren't as fussy.

They are extremely inefficient. I've never come across a Home Speaker as bad and noticeable as these.

        • Mine absolutely hammer of a Rotel RA-10, which is only 40wx2

And a quick google show that plenty of other people have the same experience, including John Darko: https://darko.audio/2017/07/happy-accidents-will-happen-rote…

So yeah, it's not the 2k speakers that are the weak link in your chain.

@jjcf: My current amp is 80w *2 though I believe that's the 4ohm rating, they are very loud no issues.

But Marantz Slimline receivers aren't overly great, and it's all relative…. the LS50W I have with 230w per channel hammer… The fact is I have to turn the Receiver up to max with the LS50 where as with some older Kef Q7 speakers I'm a good 20-30db less on the volume dial.

  • I'm waiting for the Kanto Tuks to lower in price.

very tempted, and nice colour… but have been eying off the LS50W. Any specials on those OP?

    • Good taste :)

    • Join the club. Go with the LS50W :)

    • +1

sorry not that i have seen everywhere seems to be $3495

      • sorry for some reason I thought you were "associated" with the store …my bad but thanks for replying anyway :D

For those who want to skip the whole ‘component matching’ Hi-Fi game, just go with LS50W which is essentially internally optimised head-to-toe by KEF (Amplifier / DAC / DSP all to get the best out of LS50 speaker design).

LS50W also has an app with advanced settings for DSP room-correction enabling more flexible placement options.

You can currently get a $500 off LS50W e-voucher just by signing up to the KEF Family.
      https://www.melbournehifi.com.au/blogs/news/join-the-family-…
The voucher is for the LS50W model only.

      Ends November 30th.
”must be redeemed no later than the 15th of December.”

      • Does that mean after the $500 voucher, the final price will down to 799?

        • no that offer is for the active wireless version which will be $2995 a great deal for someone who's buying these anyway but way to much for me

        • Please read the comment again carefully.
The $500 off LS50W e-voucher works for the LS50W model only. (Wireless Active-Speakers)

The LS50 model in the OP (this deal) are Passive Speakers.

  • Can anyone ELi5 if these would be of any use to someone who isn't a producer? Are they overkill/recommended for home listening?
