      • +4

        its called price matching

    • lol @ negs

    • Anyone got a price match (without delivery?)…Still expensive in SA officeworks.

    • Ugh, went to Office Works and they didn't have any.
I asked if they had them in any other branches, they had none at all for presumably the whole state. (VIC)

      • i bought one from richmond a few hours before your post :)

  • 'Lets you upgrade to USB 3.0, FireWire® 800 or eSATA'
    what does this mean?

Also - ps3 upgrading? is it a sata drive or usb drive internally?

    • One would assume it isn't USB replacing SATA internally if it supports the GoFlex cable as a USB interface on the drive would be the bottleneck (and therefore no point in FireWire/USB3.0/eSATA).

    • It's basically a regular 2.5in Sata hard drive, if you open the case you'll see the hard drive is plugged into a port and converted to USB. If you can get the harddrive out, then yes, it is Ps3 compatible.

      • fantastic! it is cheaper than MSY, finally!

        • Yes yes yes….been waiting for a PS3 upgrade hdd (+bonus case) option.

      • @cyssero and @xDEFINE - I have three of these drives in front of me :)

The drive - a 2.5 SATA I guess from looking into the drive with the connector lead removed is interfaced to the various formats ie USB2.0. USB3.0, firewire etc by the large connector on the drive end of the lead which contains the interfce electronics for the connection to the actual drive.

Thus the is no extra bottleneck to USB in the design and I would check the drive connector before asssuming it is true SATA as I do not have a 2.5 inch drive to compare with.

      • yes. you can put your ps3's hdd into that bonus case, ha ha .

  • ^ Does anyone know how to actually remove the outer casing without breaking it? :P

The price is good but it costs $18 to ship to NSW….
What a crazy shipping cost for a online shop nowadays.

    • if you despise the shipping fee check out http://www.fluidtek.com.au/ (store at Carlingford, NSW) their portable ones go for $65 but about 5 months ago (when no one knew them) they were only $50 500gb Hitachi but since the surge in popularity they jacked up the prices a bit too much… lucky I got a few before the price hike.

The portable 1TB is pretty good if you don't like the shipping fee at OP store, as it is only $105 (7 more dollars) .

They dont update their website often so check later for more info…

  • I know… It's because their all using local courier services, like fastway, I've always been happy with Auspost, I don't know why they can't charge $5 for an eParcel… meh.

    • +2

Shopping Square use AusPost eParcel … BUT … charge Courier prices! Grrr

      • +1

GraysOnline use auspost and charge double the courier prices! Double Grrr

  • OW has 1T for $99 usb 2.

  • Got one from the Clayton store Wed arvo. Good deal.

  • Seems external drive these days are cheaper than internal one
