In-Store Cashback Increases at 64 Visa & Mastercard Stores @ Cashrewards (Sony $70, Chat Thai 10%, TGI 13%, Co-op 7.2% + More)

2400

Hi everyone. For those unaware, we launched Mastercard recently to join our Visa in-store program. There's no longer a requirement to activate offers - simply link your card and shop. Ensure the store and location you want to shop at is listed and you're good to go. Note that some stores have a minimum spend requirement. You must tap or select the credit option at the terminal. Selecting cheque/savings will invalidate cashback. Payment with Android/Apple Pay is fine provided the associated card is linked to your CR account. Always retain your paper invoice in case an issue arises.

As part of the Mastercard launch, we've increased cashback at 64 of the 67 stores we have listed on the program. There are new stores being added regularly, so please check back. The table below has links to each store, as well as old and new rates. Please read the in-store FAQs here, and don't forget to download our mobile app here. Increases are good until at least Oct 31, unless withdrawn by the store/s prior. As always, thanks for the support and enjoy :)

Log out of Cashrewards then back in if you're having trouble linking your card. Email confirmation is sent upon successful registration.

  • I’ve had some issues with Cashrewards tracking my orders in the past. YMMV. Just be careful when using it you follow all the steps regarding ad blockers, clearing your cache and the other steps.

It can be cumbersome, but if you follow the steps carefully it should work :)

    • +8

If you follow all the necessary steps and an issue arises just raise a ticket or speak to TA and they will resolve it. Always prompt and amazing service.

      • +1

        Good to know. Thanks :)

      • +11

Not really. I've raised a few issues in the past on cashback not tracking for Amazon (with gift cards) recently and hello fresh a while back in my comments and no interest or comment from CR reps.

        Just saying

        • +10

Please be careful. I’ve raised this before and been down voted and ridiculed because I dared to raise my concerns with cashrewards’ tracking.

          • +3

            @Bellpop: But it's the truth.
If people want to be ignorant of the truth, they are free to neg. We are in a democratic country (excludes freedom of speech for the press/media 😂 )

        • +1

Did you contact Cashrewards directly? Or were hoping that a comment on this website should serve as communication to them?

          • +1

@evolution-flip: There are similar tracking issue comments under every CR deal.

Not sure if they are associated with SB but clearly they are not a big fan of CR. And they never said if they have tried to reach CR.

I mean 99% of tracking lost is caused by the user didn’t follow the instruction properly. It happens on both SB and CR.

It’s a free country, we are just lucky enough to be able to type anything behind the screen. (At least different from where I came from). But we do have families living on this, they work so hard to bring more deals to us. And more importantly, the market needs competition.

I like the idea of in-store cashback, good job CR. It is a kind of stand out from online cashback competition.

    • +1

Same here, and it's always the high value transactions.

    • My go to for cashback is to use edge or ie - they're both trash and I don't normally use them so I don't have to do any of the messing around disabling adblockers or privacy badger etc.

      • I really like this "set n forget" type thing if it's implemented well.

As I buy on the spot most times.

  • Who's paying for this? the merchant?

    • +28

      Ultimately, you.

      • lol!

This has got MS written all over it is all i'm saying.

  • +5

I activated this last week and visited TGI FRIDAYS the same day – purchase was tracked that night! I was very impressed with it – it's easier than purchasing online! Well done, Cashrewards.

  • Hey @tightarse Any idea why my card wont link? I click "link card" and it just takes me back to the home page without linking my card.

    • Please try logging out then back into Cashrewards and give it another crack. Generating a new token should fix it. Else clear your cache, or use the mobile app. Please report back :)

Edit: When you successfully link your card, you will receive an email instantly.

      • I was having the same issue the other day, someone suggested I try in incognito mode and it worked

      • +2

Not sure why I didn't think to do that, but that worked, thanks! :D (Just logging out and back in fixed it)

        • +1

Yep, something in cache causes that for some users. Thanks for confirming it worked :)

  • I link my card, and every link I visit in your list, it again asks me to link my card and can't find any already linked cards…have already tried linking my card twice now.

    • +1

Did you receive email confirmation when you linked? See my comment above.

      • +1

Thanks TA, logged out and logged back in to do it and that did the trick.

        • +2

Great to hear. Thank you :)

  • +4

Just asking a question, doesn't using cashback services mean tons of companies are able to track all products you buy and then directly market to you based on that data as they can accurately predict what you might be buying next? Not to mention all the other things they can do with such specific info. Seems a bit worrying on the privacy side. If I'm wrong then let me know but it's concerning that everything is being tracked, especially if you link your visa.

    • +1

of course. Or they probably sell the data on to some other entity.

Do you have a woolies or coles reward card thingo? (The name escapes me, I don't have either). That's probably even worse than cashrewards.

      That’s worrying.

    • +2

@Tuttifrutti12345, please see my response here.

    • +5

      From TA's comment:

To put your mind at ease, we have no idea what you purchase. Only Visa & Mastercard do. The only thing reported back to us is the store name, time & date of purchase, and purchase amount. And this is done so the transaction can be added to your Cashrewards account. Also, your Visa and/or Mastercard details are not captured or stored at any point by Cashrewards. Your card details are encrypted, captured and stored by Visa and/or Mastercard alone from your secure browser session. We do not pass this back to our system. Once your card is linked, Visa and/or Mastercard then send us the last 4 digits for reference. Hope this helps.

So looks like it's all good :)

What happens if we link the same card that is also linked to similar programs, and that other program has an in store offer at the same store? For example, I already have mine linked with Qantas and have now linked the same card with CR. They also have in-store offer at Mrs. Fields (chosen at random as the first store I found with in-store offer at both). If I make a purchase there, will both programs work? Not looking to double-dip but want to at least make sure I'm getting the best offer.

    • I reckon you'd pass for both programs they shouldn't affect each other (why would they have sight on each other's activity?)

      • It's the store that approves it. If the store receives from both CR and Qantas, then I don't know that they would approve both?

        • Oh trueee someone else should answer this then! I wanna know too

  • Is there actually any sony kiosks in Brisbane?

  • Is PayPal included?

    • No. You must pay with a physical card or Android/Apple Pay. Also note this in the OP:

You must tap or select the credit option at the terminal. Selecting cheque/savings will invalidate cashback. Payment with Android/Apple Pay is fine provided the associated card is linked to your CR account.

      • +1

        What about payWave?

      • Hi @tightarse with ApplePay you say the associated card must be linked to your CR account - So this won’t work for ApplePay linked to my debit card? I don’t have a credit card.

        • Yes it will. Please read this in the FAQs. All the info you need is there :)

  • Mine doesn’t give an option to link my card?

    • See my comment here in case it's related.

What does cash rewards do with our credit card purchase history i wonder?

    • +6

To put your mind at ease, we have no idea what you purchase. Only Visa & Mastercard do. The only thing reported back to us is the store name, time & date of purchase, and purchase amount. • +2

Do you only receive the reports on the stores you provide cashback for? Or for every purchase we make with our cards?

        • +2

Visa & Mastercard (and all online merchants for that matter) report back only the transactions attributed to Cashrewards.

          • @tightarse: Few questions that are not related to instore cash back

Is there a way for Cashrewards to identify cashback user data ?

For example User registered as JD at cashrewards clicked through ur website and made a transaction at one of the listed affiliate retailer where the customer has to put their full name John Doe while buying the product.

Whether that customer be reported back to you as John Doe by the retailer ?

What all user identifiable data you will get from a normal cashback transactions while we click through cashrewards website ?

Does your browser extension monitor and collect my data while not using your website and visting other web pages ?

And lastly do u share/sell/profile user data ?

            • @Gbag5: As commented previously, no. Once you click out to any store, the information you provide is between you and them. We have no visibility apart from what they report back to populate your account with cashback. Name, CC details, address etc are not passed back. Also, no re browser extension, and no re profile. Thank you.

  • Hey TA, my and my wife's CC have same number. I have added card in CR settings. Will cashback apply if she uses her card. In short, does the CC name matters?

    • +1

This is fine. The only details required are the numbers. Names are irrelevant for the purposes of these promos.

  • +1

What if you use your cards via Google pay as they have a different number than the actual numbers on the card. Would you still be able to track it?

    • Payment with Android/Apple Pay is fine provided the associated card is linked to your CR account.

    • +1

Came here to ask the same thing! Thanks rkuk85 and TA for your response!

  • Can I link my 2 Visa cards with my CR profile?

    • It’s in the FAQs. Five of each.

  • Artistry Coffee Craft is 14% not $14.

    • Thank you :)

  • Yep, im having the same problem as others. Tried to link my card through the web and the app, but doesn't link, the web comes up with an error saying "An error has occurred, please refresh the page and try again" did that and nothing, cleared the cache and tried a million times and still nothing. The app is no better, scanned and typed in the numbers and no response back. I have been on to your support and they really haven't helped much at all. I'm really annoyed and disappointed

    • Hi nav71. You may have an old version of the app installed? Please ensure you are using v1.4.4 or v1.4.5. If on desktop, try logging out then back in to your Cashrewards account to generate a new token. Finally, try via 4G (rather than wifi) in case you're behind a firewall that's doing weird things. If you're still having issues, please turn on messaging in your OzB settings and PM me. Thanks.

      • Thanks TA. i downloaded the app only 2 days ago, how do i check the version anyway?. I have also tried to log out then log back in already. I will try the 4g bit today

I used Cashrewards to get Nord VPN in September and I am still waiting for my cash back. I contacted customer service twice and have been told if I haven’t been paid by 19th December I should contact them again. I am yet to be convinced this is genuine. For that reason, I have not linked my cards and am holding off several other purchases.

    • Hi. Please explain what's not genuine? I'm assuming your NordVPN cashback is pending in your Cashrewards account? Every store has a pending period of anywhere from 14-100 days. This is clearly stated on the tracking email you received, against your transaction in your account, and on the store page. We can't pay you until the stores approve transactions and release funds to us. Thanks.

      • -2

        Thanks for your prompt reply.

This is what I got. If it is not jargon, I don’t know what is, and is the reason I’m not yet convinced it is genuine:

“Any transaction we query with NordVPN can take from 30-90 days to resolve. This is because the store needs to run a number of internal checks regarding the eligibility of your cashback which can include the reviewing of cooling off periods, item exchanges or transaction amendments and they ultimately need to ensure that their analytics attribute the sale to Cashrewards.

In the meantime, please disregard the Estimated Approval time frame marked against your transaction as this does not apply when querying a transaction with a store.

I would like to share some insights that the majority of transactions don't track because of different reasons like Using coupon codes not specifically advertised on Cashrewards, the presence of loyalty discounts, AdBlocker or spyware software can hinder the performance of tracking and can result in transactions not tracking or be ineligible for rewards. Tracking can also be affected if you shop around on any other website, including Google, after clicking from Cashrewards or by clicking on banners within a store's page. Keep this in mind for your future transactions to help ensure that cashback tracks every time.”

        • That's a different scenario. From that response, you've obviously submitted an untracked claim. The email explains the possible reasons your NordNVPN didn't track, and the fact we've submitted a claim to NordVPN on your behalf. Again, we're at their mercy and need to wait for them to come back to us. Once they do, and provided their analytics show the sale has been attributed to Cashrewards, they will pay us to pay you.

          • @tightarse: …and if they don’t, I miss out? Not only on cash back, but on other deals that were going at the time, and I’ve spent much more than I needed to.

            • @dennisc: Discussing via PM.

              • @tightarse: Tightarse took it upon himself to follow up Nord VPN, have the transaction validated, and I have now gone through the cash out process. Great service. I’m now looking forward to giving Cash Rewards a thorough workout. Thanks TA.

  • a bit confused,

it says mastercard promotion, so is a visa card eligible if you add it to your account, to be eligible for the discounts in the table

    • +1

All rates apply to both Visa & Mastercard transactions.

      • +1

one more question, is there a max number of times you can use at the same store?

        • +3

Caltex limited to 3, Sony once per 24 hours, the rest are unlimited. Just make sure you check the terms for each.

  • What is the "Delta" column?

    • The difference between the old cashback and the new cashback.
