That's what I'm guessing but I suppose will find out when I get my final bill.

          • @meharly: But prepaid will be cancelled after a while if you don't recharge

  • How is the 2800mAh battery life?

    • meh…… does get frustrating but i use the phone for work. I'm not really streaming movies on it and so on.

Cant complain for the price thou. If i paid full price or contracted myself for 24/36 months, i would be hating it.

      • +1

Exactly. For $201 I am extremely happy with the phone.

  • Anyone just get an email from Telstra saying "Check out what's in your plan"…. "Thanks for choosing us for your new mobile…."?

I ported out that service 2 weeks ago….

    • Yep I got it too 🤣 just a little bit slow Telstra…

      • Wonder how long it'll take them to do the final bill…..

        • Yes I have also got that email today

Ported out a few days ago

    • Points out you get free access and streaming with the NRL,AFL,etc so that's useful at least.

    • Just received this email too…

  • The deal is back on tomorrow, even with the etc, still make a profit after the phone sale.

    • -1

      LOL, will they ever learn?

    • nobody will buy it. keep on dreaming

    • Just be aware that the market for Pixel 4s is quite soft. Took me ages and I only sold for $850

      • I sold for $750 but I had used it for a week…

  • +1

If I've got a problem with my P4, should I take it back to JB's even if I've changed to M2M and ported out?

    • +1

yeah i think they have nothing to do with the plan if your phone have issue bring it to them. I was told by Jb staff that within 3 months any problem they will offer exchange or refund

      • +1

Replaced straight away by JB staff, they're awesome (not connected to JB's).

        • after they replace the phone is no longer locked to telstra and u can upgrade your phone the next day if you wish to

          • @phuc9797: The phone wasn't locked to telstra to begin with…

            • @Ughhh: The JB staff told me the imei was locked with telstra mot the network. That is why we cant exchange or refund the phone but if you get a new phone there will be a chance to upgrade it to XL or 128Gb

              • @phuc9797: My partners using his new Pixel 4 from the same jb hifi telstra deal on the Kogan (Vodafone) network. Imei could be tied with Telstra, but deff not locked.

          • @phuc9797: Phone was unlocked mate.

  • Merged from JB Pixel 4 Deal, Final Bill Has ETC

    Hey guys,

I'm referring to the original https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/491146 deal. Has anybody else received a bill with a $390 ETC? I just received mine after the first month and it's $440. I have another $50 plan with Telstra.

I am going to kick up some fuss with them shortly (yeah, not much :P), but was wondering, if anybody else has gone through it already?

    • Do you have evidence the ETC was waived?

      • Yeah, I have the chat transcript where the agent says there's no ETC. I asked him explicitly. Probably what I'm going to use to raise a fuss.

        • Says on the information sheet that there is a ETC.

You could but its a bit of a dick move and you’ll likely get them sacked

          • @apptrack: Yeah, the deal itself was fine. The ETC waiving was the cherry on top. Otherwise, I'm sure not many people would have jumped on it.

    • Isn't that cheap vs going through with the 12 month plan you signed up for? There was always going to be an early termination charge after the loophole was fixed

Or are you just going after the difference, 440 vs 390?

      • You're right. I think I was part of the early bunch before the loophole was fixed. I'm not complaining, it's still cheaper with the ETC. Just asking, if anybody else got it.

    • So how many bills have you gotten from them since signing up?

      • This is the first one. Their estimate bill didn't show any ETC, nor the portal when the plan changed.

        • Does the bill with the ETC actually say "Final Bill" ?
First bill I got was just a few bucks before changing to M2M.

          • @Ughhh: No, it does not say "Final Bill" anywhere. Only says:

            "Charges outside of your Plan
            Plan Contract Cancellation"

  • Got my bill, ,no ETC.

    • how long after you moved to M2M or cancelled telstra completely?

    • It said final bill?

      • JB Hifi BYO plan for 1 day
Then switched to Mobile Plan Medium 3 days, then cancelled.

I have another plan with Telstra, and the bill always comes on the 20th.
So got a bill today covering 2 things. My old plan, as well as the (cancelled) JB/Mobile Plan Medium.
Going to assume this is the final bill, why wouldn't it be?

        • Hey, how long after swapping to M2M plan did it take to receive your first bill? Also did you receive any confirmation when you moved to M2M plan?

  • +1

Received my bill today and have been charged the ETC after being told on chat that there would be no fee. I’ll be callin* them tomorrow. Have the transcript.

    • do you still have your order number in the transcript? if you do, put it through the order checker and see if it says " add cancellation waiver" in the steps

      • +1

Hey that's a good tip. Checked mine and it has that

      • Have tracked down my orders by logging into my account however it just shows ‘Completed’ as the status with no further details.

        • +4

          https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/track-my-order?order=(enter order number here)

        • @thewhitetower did you end up contacting Telstra and have you checked your order number using the link from Rakddon above?

          • +8

@surcharge: Yes. I called Telstra earlier today and advised that I have been charged a cancellation fee despite being advised otherwise. The agent didn't out up a fight and quickly adjusted my account and removed that charge. All good:)

            • @thewhitetower: Do you know if they checked the transcript or if they just waived it based on your word.

              • +4

@chemax: I’m not sure whether they checked the transcript as the agent didn’t make any reference to it. She just advised that she can help me with this and proceeded to adjust the total owed. My bill has since been an updated online to reflect the new and reduced amount.

    • I think they've knowingly chased and charged the ETC. I took it up with them and they've referred to me to JB HiFI instead. My transcript/order/estimate all mention the cancellation waiver/no fee, but the agent still refused to acknowledge it.

      • make a complaint on the telstra website.
They should call you within a few days to resolve this.

  • +2

I have got a bill on 22/11 (second bill), no ETC

    • +1

I think you're sate now. I still haven't got my first bill.

  • I went through the process of moving to M2M using the app and then canceling. I just received a confirmed final bill of $15. No etc payment. All done via chat.

    • Did you use app or chat to move to M2M? What was done via chat?

      • App to move. Chat to cancel plan and confirm bill.

    • Did it actually say Final bill?

      • On chat was told twice it was the final bill. I asked twice.

  • Got my first (final?) bill 3 weeks after porting out, for two days of JB, and 5 days of $60 m2m (which I switched to on the app). $15 odd. Wonder if they'll follow up with an ETC bill (or indeed an $8 porting charge) in the weeks to come.

  • I just got my bill and I was charged ETC even though the transcript said it would be waived. Guess I'm calling them…

    • Update: spent about an hour on the chat going back and forth with some lady until she escalated it to her supervisor
They wouldn't budge until I coped the entire chat transcript to them. They finally waived the charge after that.

  • Haven't got my final bill, but my Telstra home page states that my 'last bill is $391.05' with the PDF statement yet to be generated.

    • Yep same for me

    • Have you ported out yet?

      • nah, just left it on prepaid

        • I left mine on pre-paid too, haven't got a second bill and nothing in my homepage about last bill.

    • Can you share a censored screenshot?

  • +3

Just got my bill, and ETC was included. Went to Live Chat and they waived the ETC after telling them I have the chat transcript.

Got the text message saying credit has been applied to my account!

    • You didn't have to provide the actual transcript?

      • +1

I had to, I have a reference number about it. So that helps I guess

    • Was this for an active service or had you ported out?

      • Active, well, I changed it to Prepaid

  • Has anyone who ported out their service got a final bill, with or without ETC?

    • Nope. Still waiting. Two services.

      • When did you switch across to M2M?

        • 2nd Nov for both services. No bills since then. Only received one bill before M2M switch for one service.

          • @alterego13: Same here. Signed up for 2 on 2nd Nov. No bills at all. I swithed both to M2m then prepaid.

            • @Micky14: I have since ported out. Confirmed on chat that there are no port out charges from M2M, so didn't bother going prepaid and then porting out.

    • +1

I have ported out and got my second bill without ETC

      • +1

Me too, I got one with JB plan and another with M2M.

None of them said final bill though.

    • Don't know if they tell you it's the 'final bill' or not. Have received one bill sans ETC.

  • I got a bill with a $30 credit. Assuming there will be more to come…

  • Got my final bill (I assume this as my second last bill was pro rated). $13 or so, no ETC.

    • Did it actually say "Final bill"?

      Had you ported out?

      • Didn't say final bill but I ported out in early Nov. The previous bill was for like couple of dollars so I assume that I signed up days before the month cutoff then and this bill was final pro-rated amount.

  • +1

Just got my bill with other services on it as I usually do this time of month, no ETC on the JB plan. I did switch to M2M though as I actually use this number and figured I'd wait until another great deal comes up to switch to. Can't remember when I switched but it was via the app and this is on the bill:

    Adjustment - JB Hi-Fi Mobile BYO Plan $65 -.03.Nov.to.27.Nov credit $52.419

So I presume it was the 3rd. Has a month in advance for the M2M but I was expaecting that and of course if I switch out before then it's pro-rata anyway.

  • Received my 2nd bill since port out. No ETC.

    • still waiting for my 2nd bill.

unrelated but did you ever have BBM?
      I remember your name.

      • Yes I did. Small world.

        • Haha… So your finally off the Telstra F&F plan?

          • +1

@Rakddon: Yes, they kicked me off it. Thank goodness for Boost Mobile - $135 for 12 months. And my zero net cost for this phone is much better than Telstra F&F.

            • @juliank: I'm still on the F&F offer (got 2).
Don't even use it but still paying for it ($10 /month)

              • @Rakddon: Haha…..that's great. Did Telstra try to bump you off F&F?

                • @juliank: Nope, Telstra never contacted me or anything.

  • +1

Still no second bill, been over a month now.

    • yep, same here.

      • Me three. Now caught the SIM churning bug, having ported out to Catch ($4.90 less $10 cashback) for the first month, now with Boost for the month ($15). Hardly any benefit in staying with Telstra, and all done for a fraction of the price each month.

        • be careful who you port in to……..to ensure they dont sting you with a port out fee.

From memory, i think TPG does this and a couple others.

          • @COVID-19: I didn't cop a port out fee from Telstra, being month to month. I don't think any prepaid services do charge port out fees, due to the fact they don't pursue debts in the first place, presumably. Or do some prepaid hold you ransom when you try?
