    Sooo…with a few posts above saying the promo has been changed to a gift card, has anyone had better luck today than they did yesterday with stores saying it was store credit only?

  • Just went to JB HIFI to port number from Optus but my old number did not get the text message to start the porting process…

    Maybe Optus is blocking texts from Telstra? :D

    I will go tomorrow morning again and they resend the text message (can be done after 24hrs is passed). And the guy said I will still get the $500 gift card.

    • I signed up yesterday afternoon and am yet to receive port text. But I was told up to 48hrs?

      • They told me it's instant and he has never encountered a case when it didn't come in like 1-2mins.

        But seems I'm not alone :)

        I saw at Telstra website that if you don't receive it within 4 hrs you can give them Telstra) a call. I might try that later this afternoon.

          I just called Telstra after reading your comment. Mines been escalated to Port team. Should hear something within 24 hrs. Although I won't be holding my breathe

            I will visit JB HIFI tomorrow anyway and they can resend the text so I guess I'll wait :)

              @datafellows: Yeah seems like a dog's breakfast the whole process. Some are instant. Others not.
              I did send a message via Telstra App before I called and was told at least 7 business days to port. Wtf?
              Time will tell I guess.

              • @Whatisthatvelvet: I waited for 24h and called to Telstra today, they said JB put a note of cancellation request on my order so they cant process the port in for my order. Ask me call JB and port specialist to help. Very frustrated.

                • @kendo: OK. When I called I was told they couldn't see any errors/issues with the port.
                  Seems very odd that a cancellation request was put in your order though.

                He called to Telstra but seems the queue is +30mins so I left him handle it and if I get the text I will go back to JB :)

                2 numbers in limbo now and all I have show for is 2 dummy Telstra SIM cards that are provisioning :D

                Don't envy the JB staff. Last time with my s10e the girl even didn't have time for lunch, just porting numbers whole day :P

                            Today it went from Processing to Delayed.

                            I reckon I'm gonna put in a complaint early next week sometime if nothing changes, which is what I'm expecting. Not sure if they will assign a case manager so soon but will have to see.

                                  I try to avoid unnecessary hassle and I even did not bother negotiate $10 port in bonus few months back on my S10e, felt not too good to take advantage :D

  • Successfully availed @ Chatswood today. No hassle with the gift card, either.

    Port from Optus only took a few minutes, although the fact that I have an existing Telstra billing account may have helped.

    Now to try for the port-in credit!

    • Any luck with the port-in credit? Last time I tried on my $45p/m plan, they said it was not applicable but may be "possible" if you're on the $65p/m plans on wards. Even that JB Hi-Fi needed to put in a note to Telstra advising them on that.

  • Update: Went in yesterday and was refused a gift card but went ahead with the port anyway as my wife would spend the $500 on-the-spot anyway. Went back today after reports of the promo indeed being a gift card and got confirmation that it had been changed to a gift card….HAPPY DAYS!!

    • Funny thing when I got my gift card, they kept asking me if I need a phone today, I politely declined though, saving up the gift cards :)

  • Signed up in JB Broadway on Wednesday afternoon (porting from Exetel postpaid); got the port validation SMS straight away, it took a few tries entering it for it their system to accept it and didn't hear anything since. Checked in at JB Thursday evening and they said to call Telstra today as their system said the port is "pending". Called the Telstra port team today on 1800631344, spent 1h15m on hold and then got through to a lady who had no information as to the hold up, she put me on hold to talk to the "backend team" and them came back and said to try calling back on Monday - so I just cancelled the whole thing! Might try again if they have a similar $500 gift card deal in a few months (as long as telstra can get their act together and actually port my number!)

  • Went into the oxford st store on Wed 23rd and still number not ported, haven’t even received the porting text either.

    Waiting 2 hours on hold to get through to the Telstra porting team for them to say that they have a technical glitch for both the automated and manual sms being sent out and it’ll take 48 hours from today to try and sort out the issue.

    Status told to me by both Telstra and JB is it’s still in provisioning status which is apparently the last step prior to completion.

    Anyone else having the same problem?

    • Ported from Vodafone prepaid within 20min on the last day, but was told there might be issues with the porting process.
      Thankfully all good for me.

          Just ported in yesterday to telstra from Voda though jb saying headoffice is reviewing because i ported out for 1 day prior.

          I wasnt made aware by the rep that there was a 30 day requirement. Will wait and see what they do about the gift card, their still holding onto it.

          Any one else experience same issue ?

  • Although there is nothing on the website but I went into a store on Friday and they were still doing $400 gift card
