Just stumbled across this today as I have been looking at the regular 4G version. These are over $1k at JB Hifi and the Xiaomi store. Seems like a pretty amazing price.

From quick youtubing, the camera of this phone is much inferior compared to p30 pro and the like? I know it's not apple to apple but camera is quite important for me. Anyone have first hand experience? Thanks
Generally Xiaomi and OnePlus cameras are not same level as Google/Samsung/Apple/Huawei. Using Gcam helps a bit but not perfect.
If camera is your top priority, look elsewhere.

This got a better dxo mark score than the pixel 3 apparently the cameras are quite good on it.
but p30 pro cost twice as much as this and the P series especially specialize in camera performance. Would not expect them to be on the same level to start with.

I think it's a steal at this price, especially for a 5G handset, if you live in 5G coverage area.
For those not aware, 5G version of Mi Mix 3 comes with a larger battery and SD855 instead of SD845, which brings the performance to 2019 flagship level.
How prevalent is 5G atm? I did a bit of research and could only see very few areas in Victoria being covered.
Who provides 5G atm and how much does it cost? My thinking is that it's probably Telstra and probably costs a ton.
I am looking forward to 5G, but I don't think 5G phones are necessary right now until 5G becomes readily available and cheap.

At first I really liked the slide for the front camera, but talking to a friend maybe it’s not such a good idea. Would a grain of sand ruin it? It’s probably why it has no water resistance too. But it is a novel idea
After reading the reviews and a comment from an OZBer (his comment was unpublished because he tried to sell his - private selling not allowed in OZB deal comments). Basically, unless you really want 5G and willing to deal with the odd front camera slide, MIUI 10, 1 lens + 1 depth sensor lengh camera system front and back, it is not really worth it. Mi9 is roughly the same price, but without 5G obviously.
Still have a Xiaomi phone… price was good, but with compromises. One of them is the battery quality (it degraded like crazy). Phone shuts off after it reaches 40%. Really feel like throwing the phone in the bin.

Last time I ordered a phone from TobyDeals, it took 2 days to dispatch, another 6 days to be delivered. Total 8 calendar days from order to receiving it.

I couldn't get a reply to my question, and different spec sheets list either single or dual depending on region so I went with a OnePlus 7 8gb/256gb instead.
Not living or working in a CBD, 5G is not a feature for me.
