Glass Print 20x30" (50x75cm) $89 (RRP $229) @ Harvey Norman Photo Centre

290

Been thinking about getting some canvases printed for around the house but stumbled upon this deal.

price seems great normally $229 down to $89

can anyone comment on the quality of these glass prints at all?

"Using your own digital images or digital artwork, we print directly onto the back of a 6mm thick bevel edge safety glass using the latest printing technology. Using a UV stabilized ink which is then sealed with a vinyl layer for protection & longevity, the product not only looks premium, but is also finished with high quality making it one of a kind." https://www.harveynormanphotos.com.au/collections/rectangle-…

Isn't it just a print sticked to a piece of precisely cut glass ?

    • +2

i thought that also, but they print it onto the glass itself by the sounds.

I'm curious as to what the picture quality is like

I think it is, order from Snapfish and bigw glass print before, they claim the same thing "latest printing technology" blah blah but it just prints press onto piece of glass! I suspect these are outsource from the same place. They are sent in from overseas (Malaysia if I remember correctly). $89 is a good price but definitely not worth $229. If anyone think they get a high quality translucent glass print, this isn't it.

      • If it's like BigW, it's rubbish. I sent a glass print back because quality was crap. Their portal also compresses and downsamples.

        • now this is my concern. i'm wanting to get 6 of them made up.

i asked the people at hardly normal and they had no idea at all

I wonder if you put a board underneath them whether they would make an interesting side table. Might need to be careful of dropping something on them if you made them smallish coffee tables

They also have a smaller size on discount

      • Thanks, yeah I should’ve put the price I’m my post :).

  • I'm not sure about glass, but I'm very happy with the photo prints I've gotten from my local HN

  • so how's it look in practice? I've got a few Big W canvas prints and have been happy with these. I'd imagine the glass is also much heavier to hang?

    • no idea honestly.

i'm kind of hoping someone here has had experience with them

Here what it will look like, if you zoom in you see it printed on some white poster/carboard press onto glass, it quite heavy but came with mounting brackets.

      • Thanks,
Can you please show us a photo of the picture?

        • Try to take photo, but because it glass alot of reflection therefore not helpful

      • Hi mate, how is the print quality? I'm wondering if it will make a difference going in store with a USB because I am scared the online portal will compress my images.

        • +2

I am happy with the print quality, the picture is taken by SLR very sharp But print come back slightly on the soft side (could be just the affect behind the glass therefore they can get away with slightly bad quality print but still looks good behind the glass), color wise I can't tell because the 2 pics I made are landscape so mostly blue and green which is quite accurate to the blue and green of my originals. As for the portal, it warms you if your image is lower then the res of the size you are printing,

          • @huu: Hi huu.

            When you say heavy.

How heavy do you think it is?

did you get the 50x75cm size?

            • @myusername: Yes 50 X 75cm, Oki for 1 person to carry just hard to grab , but I would not hang it in veneer only, at least 1 screw into a stud or dynabolt it. Will weigh it when I get home

              • @huu: thanks mate you're a legend much appreciated

                • @myusername: About 6.5kg, hmmmm feels alot heavier when trying to mount it LOL

BigW has samples of their various options (such as metal, canvas & glass) in some of their shops if you would like to have a look personally.

  • There are a fair few good sale prices on canvas too:

I can’t speak for glass prints, but for canvas and others various prints on wood, acrylic, etc, I have long found that the big players bigw, Harvey Norman, are extremely expensive and seemingly a big rip off. Their “sale price” is generally the everyday price of photo book shop which I’ve been using for years.

    https://www.photobookshop.com.au/voucher

E.g, $59 for a 75cmx100cm prints is my default size vs $199.95 at Harvey Norman. This used to be $49.

I’ve bought from bigw and photo book club and the quality is comparable if not better.

There are referrals so look for the referrals on Ozb https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/photobookshop.com.au

  • Can someone tell me the best tool to match Harvey Norman colour printer setting? My pictures looks fine on iphone or computer but after print out the colour didn’t popup or too bright or too dark or weird (if I play around with filter setting)

    Thanks

    • same here HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
