- Jakarta, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Shanghai, Bangkok, Tokyo (Narita), London and Frankfurt for departures from 4 October to 16 November 2011
- Los Angeles for departures 19 October to 30 November 2011
- Johannesburg for departures from 16 January to 31 March 2012

Edit: As for the deal, it depends on which state you are departing from, and where you are arriving at and travel period. No offense, but I don't think it is sensible to list all the flights from all the states, its destination and the travel period too if you are the OP.
Its cheaper compared to last Global Sale for my target destination.
It will be your personal preference ultimately if you choose to travel with them or not, as I'm not affiliated with them or hop on to your preferred airline. I will respect that decision. You get to choose what you want to do with your money and flight. Just here to share a deal. =)

    Any at all?

appreciate the heads up about this but i dont consider Melb to LA return for $1559 anything special at all!

    • Would seriously appreciate being given the alternative. Been looking lately and most seem to be in that price range.

Given that last year it was around the $1000 mark it hurts when you see prices like this.

Not sure if I'd trust Qantas…I mean, if all the engines fail you'll be stuck up in the air for a while!

    (Sarcasm)

    • your schtick needs an overhaul ;) .. as does your grasp of physics! :P

    • -2

Yes I'm the same, until they stop using cheap poorly trained staff to fix aircraft no sale will get me on a plane. Bubble gum and wishful thinking doesn't keep aircraft in the skies nor passengers in planes even if a sale is on. I won't neg as its not the OPs fault Qantas are cutting corners.

      • +2

CASA action against Tiger prove your allegation dubious …
also Singapore engine failure incident was attribitable to faulty design by Rolls Royce, not maintenance issues

Rainman would still tell you Qantas is statistically the safest airline in the World

          Still True -

Qantas just had a few 'problems' ;-)

The 3 airlines above it have had accident(s)resulting in fatalities!

        • +1

It depends on how you define 'safest'. QANTAS (4) has never had a fatal accident, both Air Canada (2) and British Airways (1) have. Hence, it's very subjective on behalf of the author.

        • +2

is all this talk of safety really nessessary? When was the last time a major carrier had a fatal accident? Based on how mnay flights total? Its miniscule - There is more risk to you getting in a car accident on the way to the airport.

        • All yours and the people below this comment have valid points however when these deals are mentioned at my workplace most are in agreement with what I said that they wouldn't fly with Qantas based on recent problems, be them related to overseas repairs or good PR spin about the engines being at fault, nobody seemed interested in testing Qantas and their word so as I said, deals are all well and good, but they should work on the image they are giving Australians instead of deals that wont be taken by those that have lost trust in the airline itself.

As for the engine issues you seemed to have pulled out the one problem they had that could be potentially blamed on a third party and missed the following….the emergency landing in Manilla due to an exploding Oxygen cylinder…guess that was the fault of the cylinder maker, and whos fault was it that the support clips that keep the 737s pressurised hadn't been installed by maintenance, is that the fault of the clip manufacture as well not leaning over the shoulder of the maintenance crew to make sure they don't do a half assed job????

Seems like its everyone else fault but the Airline….whilst people are pointing fingers QANTAS gets another step closer to having its first aircraft disaster…who will they point the finger at then whilst Australians are grieving and will it really matter??

        • So the alternative is … Flying airlines that also service their planes overseas…

And then as many here say, they fly other airlines because they are cheaper… go figure

Syd to hong kong and back for 888 is pretty good

    • Lucky number :)

    • Damn I've just booked my tickets to HK last week!!!!!

  • -1

Bah, rip-ff. Look at websites like webjet, flight centre etc and even these 'sales' prices aren't that cheap

  • I won't neg because a few are borderline deals.

  • +1

Careful, on the 24th August they are announcing some route cuts, they will probaly move you to DeathStar!

  • -3

2000 for a return flight to europe is a complete joke.

    • wait till you try to book decent hotel stays there.

    • are people negging me because they actually believe 2000 to europe is a bargain?

      • i didnt neg u… but maybe in some peoples eyes that price is a bargain… Note that this is Qantas which has pretty good food onboard.

        • +1

compared to other airlines, qantas is not that great, I wouldn't pay a 500-800 increase to fly with them…

        • To take one flight when the deal is for many different destinations maybe the reason, its being negged. Also if someone chooses to fly Qantas, which obviously you dont. Then the deal maybe of interest to them. Its a little selfish to neg the deal based on your personal preferences.

If its not of interest to you leave the deal alone. I think discount Coke is still expensive, but I leave deals like that to those who enjoy Coke

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

Other non Qantas flyers here. Make comments etc, but they leave voting out of the equation.

        • I never said I don't fly qantas. I fly qantas when they have the best prices for where I want to go. I'm simply saying that someone choosing to fly qantas based on their food and paying quite a premium for it needs to re-think why they are visiting this site…

I'm negging the deal because of these reasons:

Los Angeles $1559 is not a bargain
Frankfurt $2031 is not a bargain
Johannesburg $2039 is not a bargain
London (Heathrow) $2099 is not a bargain

i'm not sure if you read it or not so I'll repeat my first reason for negging this deal was because 2000 for a return flight to europe is a complete joke (i.e not a bargain). ozazn then replied saying maybe it is because of qantas food, i then replied saying there is better service and food on other airlines for cheaper prices.

and just in case you were curious i looked for like 1 minute literally and found 5 airlines which i know have better service and safety record (lol) than qantas for cheaper to europe and sa.

    • sorry to hear that. hope u get some bargain flights later.. =)

  • +2

It might be a bargain, but I'll rather fly with Singapore Airlines or Emirates.

  • I was planning to book a Asian holiday during Oct/Nov. I'll get the $888 tickets. Thanks to zzzsianzzz for his post here.

    • Let us know when you can get the tickets for exactly $888 return. The price is FROM $888.

      • its for those who are travelling in the off peak season and most probably these upcoming few months.. thats what I have noticed the last time I checked.. in general there is a graph over the months.. the destination that I'm targeting is lesser by 100-200 not sure about others though compared to last Global Sale, as im not traveling around the world to include every destination.. =)

  • Why pay Qantas over $2000 on some shitty old 747 with old crows when you can fly Emirates/Singapore with new aircraft and decent frequencies for $1700!

    • By mentioning over $2000 I assume you're referring to London, in which case you'll likely be on an A380.

  • Bah! Good deal for Sydney or east coast, Perth and rest of WA will always get the short end of the stick, even though it is actually closer to fly from Perth to certain locations then fly all the way from other side of Australia.

    Stupid airfare price.
