Browsing through my PLUS Rewards and found some fantastic gift card discounts that started at 9am today and available thru to 31 December.
Doesn't appear to be any card limits, only the denominations that are in-stock!
Looks to be a 5 card limit when adding to cart.

Note: Subscription/membership via The Mercury Newspaper/News Corporation

Edit: 4pm - Comments here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/486863#comment-7792257) indicate the codes can be used directly on the first website below, without the need for PLUS Rewards
—- Surely, this won't last till 31 December!!

These cards are ultimately purchased from the website - https://www.giftcardexpress.com.au/deal/default - after clicking through the PLUSRewards website https://www.plusrewards.com.au/themercury (subscription link varies depends on newspaper etc)

    any max limit/weekly cap?

    • For the HOME card, it was a limit of 5. I would presume you can make multiple separate purchases though

      • Can anyone confirm?

        • +4

I just bought 10 (2x 5cards), tried to use the code again but it said I had already used it. You can get around this by checking out as a guest and using a different email address.
          Thanks OP!

  • Will be good for those who are looking to buy iPhone 11 deal from JB Hi-Fi

    • Anyone know if I can port to another provider (currently telstra sim only). Wait a couple days then go into JBHIFI with $500 gift cards and buy the new iphone with the $65 plan?

      • Couple of days will do regardless what they say at the moment they have a porting issue

  • Why would you pay for subscription if you can google the news?

    • For 15% off gift cards! I would only sign up for $1/week.
      No brainer

Why would you consume the corporate media that spews Government propaganda to it's moronic viewers?

For example, the news is currently telling the uninformed morons watching it that Saudia Arabia was doing nothing and then someone attacked their oil refineries and it was probably Iran.

Saudia Arabia isn't doing nothing, it's carrying out an illegal genocide in Yemen. Yemen claimed responsibility for the legal attack on Saudia Arabia's refinery. Under international law, attacking a country that is attacking you is not illegal unlike Saudia Arabia's initial attack which was illegal having neither a UN Resolution nor self defence justifications.

The viewers of mainstream news are misinformed by design and since they have no standards they continue watching it like fools. Although to be fair, some of the morons still haven't figured out that the reasons for the Iraq War were fabricated with the media's cooperation - 17 years later.

      • +10

wow, that escalated quickly. thought we were talking about a gift voucher..

      • Really? Perhaps you just need to be more selective in which mainstream news you consume instead of just looking at the simplistic option.

All the above you describe is covered in this mainstream news source…

        https://www.smh.com.au/world/middle-east/yemen-rebels-claim-…

      • How do you know the news you think is true just isn't propaganda too? Do you live there?

      • +1

Just use the Guardian Au website.

        • Agreed. True independent journalism that doesn't bow to the hand of Murdoch.

    • +1

Because some people like the specific brand of conservative news that Rupert Murdoch's news corp provides. Who else can slam wind farms, defend convicted paedophiles, and promote our glorious LNP as a competent govt like them??

Daily Telegraph seems to be a good option for getting access.

    $1 per week
    billed in 4 week blocks.
Minimum cost of $4 for 4 weeks.
No contract so make sure to close.

    • Min 8 weeks

So it ends up being $8

      • ah thanks,

        still pretty good.

  • can i just signup for telegraph basic package for this ?

    • yes, it's listed in the offer, access to +rewards

  • Do the ULTIMATE Gift Cards max out at $100 each card?
might be time to stock up for JB!

  • If you order multiple (say 30 ) Ultimate Cards is the postage still $5.95 ?

    • 5 card limit I believe

      • Yes, and postage for 5 was capped at $5.25 for my test carts

    • i ordered 5, and postage was 5.95

      • Whats the maximum value you can load on the ultimate gift cards?

      • Just check your postage, was actually $5.25 (Post Updated).
I was too caught up in it thinking $5.95, which would be a normal fee/postage for things!

  • +6

    Some maths

    JBHIFI 5 x $100 cards (max possible) = $500

    Discount = - $75

    Mail subscription (lowest possible) = + 8

    Delivery fee (lowest possible) = + 5.25

So we get: $438.25 as total cost

which is 1 - 438.25/500 = 0.123 = 12.3% total discount … Which is actually really good for JB cards

EDIT: I just called up Cancer mail, i mean courier mail (since you can't request a cancellation online… lol) and the lady apparently cancelled the membership at the end of this month (so only $4 total billed), i recorded the phone call just to be extra safe as i didn't get a confirmation email or anything

      Backstory for me.
      1. Always an online news reader, but when News Corp started subscriber articles, got frustrated unable to access them.
      2. Then started to use google search of story header and always took me to full story.
      3. After 12 months this started to be hit and miss until they completely locked it down.
      4. Got my digital access by converting my parents “newsagency” subscription to website direct, which includes physical paper delivery (parents) and digital access (me).
      5. Basically paid half price for first 6 months, and now paying the same for what was originally physical delivery only.

      • Use bit.ly plus outline to access all of these articles free.

  • What's the expiry date of the gift cards?

    • Since they sell them in NSW, at least 3 years.

  • Good deal, just beware: from previous experience those physical Ultimate cards work like EFTPOS and can only be used in store, not online. I'm still stuck with one from last year, since all the things I wanted to buy from the shops covered were online-only specials.

    • Shouldn't be an issue with JBs and the Good Guys as they generally match to their online pricing?

      • +5

If you have time to go in-store while there is stock. I tend to order clearance stuff where even waiting a few hours usually means it is sold out.

  • Good find, OP. Thanks.

  • Damn, tried to order more gift cards and my Westpac blocked the transaction, being "suspicious". Good security measures but just a bit of hassles have to wait for the cooldown period after confirming legitimate transaction.

  • Can we use gift cards to buy other gift cards in store? So can I buy a gift card for JB to buy a Ninty Eshop Card?

    • I did this for Microsoft gift cards

    • of course. this is not woolies or coles

  • Just bought 2 x 5 x $100 JB cards @ 15% off! Thanks Op!

  • -1

Any chance these are EFTPOS cards that can be used anywhere?

    • I'd also be keen to know this.

      • Update: read on another forum that they can only be used at the stores listed.
Folks have tried and failed to use them as a standard EFTPOS card at other stores :-(

  • Ooops, an error has occured!
Please call us on 1800 070 535 and we'll help resolve the issue or try again later

  • +11

No membership required just hop to giftcardexpress.com.au and use the codes as listed in OP

    • +1

      Thanks mate

    • I had tried that on another device, not logged in. Didn't work for me.

      • There is no limitation at all, I tried 3 times already.

      • use as "Guest Checkout"

        • tried multiple times, no issues

          • @777: Promotion code is not available for this deal.
Tried to buy 5 JBHIFI giftcards

    • awesome

    • Thanks! Works!

    • Did not work for me on direct giftcardexpress web link, either EBay, Country Road or JB Hifi, tried all codes and got "Promotion code is not available for this deal"

  • I got $4000 gift card. That's an issue for me now.

    • wow 8 times?

      • 2500 was from previous normal 5% sale.

        • time to find a loophole in credit card price protection?

          • @777: It seems 3 times is the limit. I tried different credit cards, emails. But it always cancels my further orders.

            • @nanoxz: Maybe it detects the IP address , tried mobile data with incognito mode?

              • +1

@777: Ended up with $2500 from this sale. Thanks.

15OFFHER works for Ultimate For Her Gift Card :)

    • Nice find! 15OFFTEEN also works on the Teens card :)

      • +2

Various codes aligned to all ULTIMATE cards work, eg 15OFFHOME, 15OFFHIM, 15OFFHER, 15OFFTEEN, 15OFFSTUDENT, 15OFFKIDS

        • Great, thanks for sharing!

  • Is there a limit to how many gift cards I can use in one transaction at JB Hi-Fi? Thinking of saving these for the next telstra + $500 gift card deal. So I'd be using about 12 total.

    • +1

Not in store, I just used at least 19 in one transaction last week they just required photo ID.

    • I bought a ipadpro11 with 14 JBHIFI egiftcards in store, there is no limit of giftcards you can use

      • Awesome, thanks guys. I'm holding out for the Galaxy S11 after the Mate 30 was a bit disappointing :(

  • Can they be used for say, eBay purchases (e.g. Good guys guft card) to buy things off eBay ?

    • +1

You use ebay gift cards on ebay

  • +1

Will keep this around until usual e-shop GC sale from boxing day

  • The Ultimate Home Gift Card really confused me. Is this Ultimate Home Gift Card is same as the JB HI-FI giftcards with no any extra limitations?

  • Hopefully they will send to me. the email said they will review the gift card purchase before processing.

  • anyone know how many gift cards you can use in store at jbhifi?

    • I have used quite a few at the one time (think it was about 10 $500 ones) and there was no issue. I did show them my ID though.

  • Think the codes are not working…just tried and it said promo code not valid…

  • +1

Deal expire for the free round-a-bout method or for the Plus reward members too? I'd still sign up if somebody can confirm it works.

    • Me too

    • +2

Says redeemed for the main cards involved. Most of the eGift are still available (not Webjet).

      • How about the ultimate home gift card $100?

      • Ahh thanks :( Only after the JB Hi-Fi discount, tried home, teen, kids on gift card express and non worked

  • Smells like the QFF Sony A7 III deal LOL. Interested to follow up if the high demand, high discount gift cards (ULTIMATE) get honoured…

  • -1

    Phucccccc man missed out 🤬

  • Deal got ozbargained. Lol. 😂

  • +1

I got a message saying my orders have been declined.

    Hmmm….

  • +3

Just for the benefit of this forum.

My purchases have all being declined.

The website does not have any phone number to contact but instead relying on Facebook Messenger which once I have logged in (and they can see my public profile as the result), I couldn't seem to be able to log out and I had to delete the conversation within Facebook and clear all my cookies in order to log myself out of Facebook Messenger within Gift Card Express website.

So I tried to send a form using their Contact Us form and it comes back with "Error, We are not able to submit your request. Please, try again later."

So at this point, I feel the need to track my credit card daily to make sure everything is ok and refund comes through.

I don't feel this is legit anymore.

    • +2

      Wow! That's bad.

I'm sure your money will be returned eventually. News Corp is a large multi-national and the offer is associated with them.

The Fairfax press would turn it into a huge media story if giftcardexpress failed to return people's money.

    • +2

      You tried emailing ?

      [email protected]

      • +2

Did so. Havent got a reply as yet.

  • declined here too and refund coming

  • +1

Mine got approved and money taken out. Hopefully they get delivered :D

  • They took my order (charged my card). Only ordered one order of 5x$100 home cards. It says it comes as a tracked letter but not shipped / no shipping info yet
