As someone who has been on Keto to great results for half a year (with short breaks), you do NOT need meal replacements. Not to mention there is still carbs in it. Eat real food, its the best part about Keto!
The super greens are good, but are $13.99 at chemist warehouse
Just pointing out that in a normal healthy diet, you eat more normal food than you do on a fad diet.
Keto suited my brother in law well and he was able to lose weight with it, it's hard to go to a normal diet afterwards and continue to lose weight, which is normal as this was only ever designed to be a temporary diet before certain medical procedures.
It’s an easy lifestyle.
Just eat meat and vegetables. It’s incredible how amazing you feel when you don’t eat sugar.
Some people are greatly affected by sugar, and some have far more than they should. It can be a huge change when you reduce that, like smoking. For me though I rarely ever had a lot of sugar anyway, so just having correct portions of any foods lost me weight and I can eat anything just portioned well - which is a normal healthy diet. It's why people often do well on fad diets, as they can't do portion control/basic food education.
There's a lot more complicated biochemistry at play than net calories, but suffice to say once you've attained a weight loss goal, you do not continue to consume less calories than you need.
On keto/low-carb, that means eating more fat. Given most caloric deficits shouldn't be exceeding -500, that's another 40-60g of fat per day and maybe a tiny extra portion of carbs, which isn't that hard to add into normal meal plan.
Keto the fad is terrible, but people who actually bother to learn about what they are doing to their bodies tend to get great results.
Given your mindset on that way of eating, I encourage you to point to where and when exactly humans started eating 40-60% of their calories in carbohydrates, and why it is you think that is a worthwhile pursuit based on skyrocketing rates of obesity and metabolic disorders. Do you really think almost half of the world is running around eating sugar packets all day?
I can't tell if you are pro keto or not…. Just clear that up for me
@cypher67: I'm hoping that they are research driven, as they agreed keto is a fad and mentioned how valuable education is.
I lost weight and ate carbs. I eat complex carbs though, like what our body needs and has evolved for. Most carbs associated with weight gain is deep fried foods, high sugar basic carbs. Majority of the issue is sugar and portioning. I eat cakes now and then, and valve the rest of the day out. I have big meals now and then, and just balance the rest of the day.
100% agree that research provides okay results, seeing professionals is the best approach if you are serious.
