Best price for a 3600Mhz CL16 recently and from local store. Timing is 16-19-19-39.
The model number is F4-3600C16D-16GVKC (not F4-3600C16D-16GVK which is B-die) with either Hynix or Micron Rev E IC.
3600Mhz @ C16 is the sweet spot at the moment for all the Ryzen 3000 deals going around.

Are people really pushing their hardware for any practical reason these days?
In this particular case, to push further is just boasting rights i guess but usually pushing lower frequencies to around 3600MHz for better performance with the new Ryzen chips.
Obviously there are some performance gains to be had from overclocking even if marginal. For gaming setups you do see this translate to higher frame rates etc.
I really don't know which RAM to go for. Still running a DDR3 system, before I built it everyone was like "Get the cheapest RAM you can get.". Now with Ryzen, there's all these other things to consider. Can anyone point me like a ELI5/primer of DDR4 RAM before I pull the trigger on the 3700X? Thanks!
https://lab501.ro/procesoare-chipseturi/amd-ryzen-3000-ddr4-… has some comparisons and whatever else.
The main factor that affects CPU performance is the Infinity Fabric clock (FCLK).
Ideally, you'd want this to be equal to your memory clock (MCLK, always half of the DDR4 effective frequency) for best performance. For example, for 3600MHz (technically MT/s but w/e) RAM, your MCLK would be 1800MHz and so should your FCLK. However, if your RAM can't overclock that high or you just don't want to overclock, high enough FCLK can overcome the performance penalties from desynchronising FCLK from MCLK. buildzoid made a video on it, but the TLDW: FCLK must be at least 166-200MHz above MCLK for the performance penalties to be cancelled out. If your RAM is stuck at 3200MHz (1600MHz MCLK), you can try overclocking FCLK to 1800MHz which will increase CPU performance.
You can get away with some generic 3200MHz 16-18-18 RAM and just overclock your FCLK for more performance, but for the best performance you'd want RAM that can go as high as your FCLK can. Most, if not all, Ryzen 3000 CPUs can do 1800MHz FCLK with 2x8GB sticks which is why it's recommended to go for 3600MHz RAM. The primary timings don't matter too much, but there is still 5-10% to be gained from manually tuning your memory timings.
If you want to plug and play and save the hassle of overclocking RAM, get a kit rated for 3600MHz. If you want to overclock and save a bit of money, I can only recommend the Crucial Ballistix Sport 3000 15-16-16/3200 16-18-18. You can easily overclock these to 3600 16-19-16 with 1.35v-1.40v (1.35v is typical for 3000MHz+ kits) or even 3600 14-19-14 if you up the voltage to 1.45v.

Nice find. Seem like Newegg just dropped the price as well. Im kind of newb so any experience with Newegg warranty process?
- duties + shipping came to $161.80
Very nice deal. Wonder if this can be pushed even higher. With the new BIOS updates rolled out for AGESA ABBA, you are able to clock your IF to match your MCLK so that would be pretty awesome.
