For the record, it isn't brine powered. If someone had figured out cold fusion (which is what would be required to extract power from brine), they'd be powering more than toy cars.

Most likely it acts as a catalyst or medium or something to a chemical power source that'll run out pretty quickly and it'll just stop working.

    • Isn't brine just a salty solution?…. well that's what google says when you do define brine.
From the video, doesn't look like it uses any other chemical elements, just 2 electrodes in salt water lol. Seems sorta useless, pass for me.

Seems to use Magnesium plates as the electrode.

Look at the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkx9KJE-87Y (poor sound but can hear if you turn volume up)

This is probably how it's done

      http://www.miniscience.com/projects/airbattery/

      • Thanks for the links. Yeah, the video says you need to replace the magnesium plate every 4 hours. I admit, I expected an hour or less, so they last longer than I thought they would :P

      • So it's probably a magnesium semi-fuel cell, the brine (NaCl solution) would just be the electrolyte.
Then the expensive component of this toy would be the magnesium.
I don't think it would be the air battery though.

        • what the….

me like cars, they go broom broom.
          ug ug oo oo.

Since when is buying useless junk made from petrolium based plastics then shipping it thousands of kilometers "Eco friendly"

    • And as revealed above, the fuel is actually refined and processed metals, not salt water. It's likely less efficient and less eco friendly than a battery.

    • Since everyone forgot China made everything

    • Plastics are basically a byproduct of petrol production.

You gotta make something from it, or should the refineries dump it straight to landfill, or back into the sea?

      LOL

  • Can I use this to brine my sardines afterwards?

    • No.
It requires brine (which you make yourself by saturating a cup of water with a crapload of normal salt you use to eat with) to be the electrolyte.
If you want to brine your sardines then just do it at home O_O
What are you trying to do, electroplate your sardines or something!?

False advertising. Not ecofriendly nor brine powered.
