Thanks for the post, but where is the mention of the free keep cup - I think I must have missed it!

  • +7

How did you know there is a free Keep Cup in the welcome pack?

      Welcome email states keep cup

"If you happen to take a snap using your bamboo keep cup be sure to send it to us or tag us in your social posts, we would love to see them in action and re-share your images.
      @australianorganic"

      • +8

Please note; as these keep cups are made from recycled bamboo,
they are not 100% dishwasher safe- we recommend you hand wash them

          • +12

@jv: Admit it, you just don't want to do the dishes.

      • What was the subject line? I got two from them, neither with that text.

        • got two emails

Looking at the picture on the website its a cup you can keep not a "Keep Cup Brand"

    • +6

Yea, so many people call reusable cups as keep cups when its not the keep cup brand lol. I signed up all the same.

    • what is the difference?

      • One is a generic brand, the other is an actual brand.

  • +15

Must be some sort of irony in us all signing up for something that promotes organics/reducing waste etc…

    • you don't think people will actually use them?

      • +4

My wife got one a while back, it's a tumbler with a terrible silicon lid. Spills everywhere. It also came with a stainless steel straw.

        • +1

Silicon lids are horrible. I've refused to use any coffee cup with silicone lids.

And stainless steel straws can be dangerous. Don't use one when driving. If the airbag goes off, that straw is gonna get lodged in one's head. Had that happen to colleague.

        • -1

@shtgnjns How come she/you didn't post it here?

  • All I can think of now is "Welcome!"
    "You got mail"
    America Online

  • Thanks why not I say

      Swing and a miss…

    Site is super slow

    • yeap, it's forever loading

    • not enough caffeine…

  • +1

    Enter our Keep Cup Competition!

    Thanks, but I'll pass

    • that's a separate competition to create art work for future giveaway/sold cups.

  • +4

    Haha site is getting ozbargained

  • -1

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say no one is getting a cup

    • +4

      Something like this may happen…

      • -4

It was pretty poor form what happened with that deal

        • +4

If it makes you feel any better I did end up getting them and they were not good at all. They gave me the lemon coconut ones and they were bitter, hard and had only a slight lemon taste. The nutrition isn't even worth it either. It has plenty of sugar and just as much fat as protein, so it doesn't even function as a "health bar".

  • +2

The site loaded really slowly but managed to sign up in the end.

    • Me too. Just had to be patient. And watch TV :)

  • +3

Recycled bamboo? Do they mean it's made from panda poo?

  • Damn, I was thinking some GREEN ideas on the train. just 2 hours before.

SIgned, I also prepare to buy a coffee cup for my workplace.

Organic food, a scam for people with too much money. Our reliance on pesticide and hormones has ensured a food supply that has kept up with the ever growing population

    • +2

Our reliance on pesticide and hormones has ensured a food supply that has kept up with the ever growing population

At what cost to the environment?

      • Organic is scam as they use natural pesticides that can bee even worse

        • I know that.

        • what natural pesticides are worse?

          • +2

            @bargain huntress:

The difference is that "organic" pesticides are so dangerous that they have been "grandfathered" with current regulations and do not have to pass stringent modern safety tests.

For example, organic farmers can treat fungal diseases with copper solutions. Unlike modern, biodegradable, pesticides copper stays toxic in the soil for ever. The organic insecticide rotenone (in derris) is highly neurotoxic to humans – exposure can cause Parkinson's disease.

            https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/green-living/the-g…

People also think organic tastes better because of the non synthetic pesticides but non organic food tastes better when tested
            https://youtube.com/watch?v=c_IoNQHMFLk

            • @spaceflight: WOW that was a very interesting article. It makes a good case against organics.

Though some of those statistics quoted do sound dubious. For example how can a cow that eats organic grass and hey burp twice as much methane as a cow who eats inorganic grass and hey, and grain?

The part about animal welfare was compelling at first, but then thinking about it I realised that the article is being one-sided and pushing an agenda, because it's leaving things out. Those stats on pigs for example; it leaves out that while the conventionally raised pigs might survive infancy more often, they also live a torturous life in cage like stalls.

      • The environment is irrelevant if no one is around to enjoy it

    • Both things can be true - it could have helped us secure our food supply temporarily by damaging the environment and our health.

I agree there are massive problems with domestic organic product fraud, but this organisation is at least trying to fix that.

    • +2

      It's a free cup. Relax.

  • +1

I've been seeing these bamboo coffee cups all over the place. Was curious to see how they hold up to stainless steel or glass reusable coffee cups. Cheers to OP for being able to try it for free now!

  • is it environmentally friendly to send out parcels to people that might not even use it?

    • +3

why would they ask for one if they weren't going to use it?

      • Because it is free.

  • +3

Can't believe how many people get excited about a free cup.

Going to start a promotion where I give out free reusable toothpicks.

    • +3

+free postage? Post it as a deal!

I could really do with a reusable toothpick.

      • +2

Working on a Kickstarter campaign, I'll let you know. Thanks for the support.

        • Me too, that's actually a great idea!

    • -1

Make sure they are produced from a sustainable forest ;)

  • +4

    Interested in an organic lifestyle?

    No.

I'm here for the free cup.

    • thanks for the update scotty. I was telling friends about it Will let them know they may miss out now.

    • Are they mad at me?

      • +3

They better not be else it's the last time they will get free marketing.

  • +2

  • +4

Received an email saying, "We just wanted to let you know that unfortunately, due to our free welcome pack being posted on the OzBargains website, we've had a much larger number of new sign-ups than we ever imagined and we have run out of welcome packs."

    • Me to , damn Ozbargain lol

    • I got the same email but it also states "Don't worry though, you'll still receive your welcome pack in the mail - it may just be a little delayed. So, please bear with us until our next distribution arrives."

    • +1

Me too! Came back to this post to join in the echo from the email I received. LOL!

At least they are nice enough to honour the free welcome pack and notify about the delay.

  • No pack and no email 😑

  • +1

OZbargained. They are still going to send welcome back when more stock. Suspect it wont happen as just to many requests.

  • +4

Congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle!

Anyone else in the same boat?

  • +3

Never received mine, but have been receiving spam emails about organic stuff

  • +1

    Nothing.

  • +3

I still haven't received mine as of 1/11/19. Originally got an email saying they got an overwhelming response & would send one shortly. I guess shortly could mean infinity! lol
