I've had some issues redeeming this in the past in-store, they always seem to have an excuse as to why it's not a full priced item, such as "that's on Clearance", "actually that's on Sale, there just isn't a tag", "that's an Everyday Bargain item, it's just not marked as one"…

I've had the reverse and they have let me use it on sale items.

I think Spotlight has self-checkout. If the system is set up not to apply discount to a sale item, a cashier can not help more.

  • Can you sign up now and use the coupon without getting the physical VIP card yet?

Upon signing up to Spotlight, you will get a loyalty card number which you can add to android pay etc. You do not need the physical card, just the number.

      • Thanks!

        • Or use your phone number in store.

  • spotlight have a very restrictive exchange policy. Even items that are in packs that have never been opened, they won't let you exchange it. When they have discount on items like bathroom accessories, they don't include all bathroom accessories like for eg loofas

Allowing change of mind returns is not compulsory by law.
Off the top of my head, JB or Harvey don’t allow it either.

    • It must depend on the store or the cashier. Earlier this year I took a craft item back (with a receipt) and said I had bought the wrong one and I got a refund easily.

  • Yep, just went in, after paying for parking. Picked out the full priced things I wanted. Told nope. not this item. Grr. Is that even legal?

Staff member screwed up and I got 60% off. Thanks OP!

    • how.

      • The barcode they scan only adds a 0.01c discount line to the receipt stating a voucher has been scanned.
The team member then has to price override your item. The team member must have done PRICE x 0.4 rather than PRICE x 0.6.

        • Cool. Thanks ! And, Where can I find a barcode/coupon? , i've searched and searched. I'm not happy that it says in the pic here 40% off any full price item, and they said no, that's excluded.
