Just received an email from Dell of this Super Special, last time I checked these were $440 + Delivery!

  Pentium Dual Core is a cut down version of the Core 2 Duo.

  Less cache, lower clock speeds.

  The RAM will generally be difficult to upgrade as it's ECC — unless you buy more RAM elsewhere and not use the ECC RAM.

  Just gave them a call and placed an order.
  Here's more information for those that need it.

  • No operating system (Just use Linux or OpenSolaris)
  • CPU is an Core 2 Duo E2180 (2.0GHz), decent.
  • 512MB is indeed ECC, (and the guy was pushing me to add more), but I'm going to use it for a File Server.
  • 80GB 7200RPM HDD, no 80GB Raptor :-(
  • CD-ROM Drive (I can live with that, others might not)
  • 3 x PCI slots
  • 305W PSU (Good enough for light servers)

  Essentially this thing is a light server, for personal server tasks such as SMTP and dedicated file serving.
  <br>
  It's not for gaming, and if you don't add more RAM it definitely cannot run Windows XP or Vista very well (or at all).
  <br>
  Excellent Linux or OpenSolaris box on the cheap.
