How does it compare to this at HN
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-spotclean-carpet-and…

    Bissell 4725 $158 + Bonus Kleva Sweeper

Looks like you get more tools and linger warranty with the 4720P but I can't find out anything else

    • I was looking for a carpet cleaner for the car and HN one was the first one I found. Sweeper has very poor reviews. So given up. I usually go to the top end if it is with in reach, so for $7 more and few points decided to go on the pro.

I have this version that I bought from Supercheap Auto on special for about $145. Looks to be the same though. Works well on small spots on house carpet but have yet to try it on upholstery.

Sorry I cant give you a more in depth recommendation other than I believe it was a worthwhile purchase. No idea about the usefulness of the Kleva Sweeper mentioned above other than that type of floor sweeper was fairly useless in the 1960's, which was my first introduction to them.

Have the 'professional' one. You really only need the smaller head for most jobs (unless you are doing an entire couch in which case I would never recommend this machine). It's cleaned up spot messes from the cat and his bird fettish as well as a spilt coffee on the couch. For spot cleans these are handy to have but you really don't need all the attachments.

I've got the purple one, think the actual machines are pretty similar, its more the attachments that differ. Cleaned numerous cars and a couple of rugs with it, very good for that but don't use the Bissell products.

Also good for cleaning "accidents" off unprotected mattresses, spray with Biozet and use the machine to wet it down and pull it out.

    • whitelie, I agree with your comments. What chemicals do you use - just the Biozet.

I was thinking of getting this when I first saw the deal but procrastinated. Should have because I needed it in a hurry when I spilt a whole cup of tea on a dining chair on Friday night - light coloured material.

I went out Saturday morning to Harvey Norman and bought it after a bit of negotiating. At first I followed instructions and used the included chemicals. Spent quite a bit of time trying to get the stains out. It was better but still looked like it had a light brown tea stain - hard to tell because it was still a bit wet. Anyway, decided to use the Preen Vanish Oxi Action Stain Remover - what the hell, nothing to lose even though the vacuum instructions say to only use Bissel products. After spraying, I left it for a few minutes (1 to 5 mins max as per instructions on Preen bottle). Then I used the vacuum to soak the area that I had sprayed with the Preen and then vacuumed it out. This method worked pretty well and you can't even tell the difference to the other chairs unless you knew what happened and had a really close look. Even then I'm not sure I could tell which of the chairs I spilt the tea on.

I'm not sure how it would have turned out if I had just used the Bissel products - the Bissel oxi action bottle says it keeps working even after you vacuum.

There was a comment in the other thread below saying to just buy a wet/dry vacuum and use normal a spray bottle for the chemicals. The Vax wet/dry vac is $99 at Harvey Norman and I was considering swapping. However, I think the Bissel would work better on a smaller area because of the head and you can actually see the water being sucked up. So will probably keep it as we seem to have to clean our dining chairs every so often.

The spray on the Bissel vacuum is a bit of a hit and miss. A lot of the times when I was just trying to vacuum, I would accidentally press the spray button because that's where your hand is when you hold the head for vacuuming.

      • For carpets and car upholstery I use Bowden's stuff, following this guide
        https://www.bowdensown.com.au/guides/how-to-use/interior-car…

I've only had to clean a wet mattress once and used liquid biozet diluted slightly in a spray bottle. Sprayed it on, brushed it in with the Bissell head and then wet it down and sucked it out with heavily diluted Orange Agent in the tank like the guide. No smell, no stain so worked a charm.

I tried the Bissell chemicals once but wasn't impressed at all.

  • So which model for toilet training in a house with carpet/rugs/mattresses?

Don't think I've got qff points but I suppose I can buy them

    Interesting reading https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/386014

  • Looking into getting a nice carpet cleaner for the house so big open spaces, hallways and small bedrooms.

Is this good for doing a whole house or more for small areas like cars and tiny rooms?

    • I have this one and good for spot only. It does work well though although a tad messy with the spray gun.

I have a bissell powerwash for the house. Its a few years old and still going strong. Might be superceded now but its essentially this…

      • Thanks for the reply very much appreciated.

Will look into the product you linked.

Yeah I need something for big large areas and maybe a smaller one for tiny hard to reach areas.

But generally large rooms from toilet bathroom sized areas to big lounge type areas.

Friend and I were looking at hiring Woolworths rent a carpet cleaner before but I think buying our own outright is much more better in the long run.

I have the supercheap auto version (https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/bissell-bissell-auto-spo…) that I bought on sale, which comes with the large stain tool, crevice tool and the upholstery tool. Great unit for spot cleaning, works better than my large Bissell upright cleaner. Of course, it is very tiring to use this small unit to clean large carpet areas, but it has been a godsend for tough stains such as pet vomit, wine stains, etc.

The advantage with this Pro version is the stain trapper tool, which traps solid chunks so that they don't flow through the tube and into the catcher reservoir, making everything smell bad. If I could do over, I'd get this one, but it is more expensive.

    • Cheers, I was actually was watching out for the SCA model but the Bissell website doesn't do a very good job of showing what the differences are.

  • Got some points transferred to me from a family member.

Any idea how long points take to show in my account? 3 hours on and no points.

    Have confirmed they were sent.

  • Can I buy it even if I don’t have any points?

    • You need a minimum of 2000 points
