$59 Seven course degustation for 2 incl Wine,Coffee/Tea at Ninety 4 Restaurant, Woolwich [SYD]

20

The deal is a 7 course degustation for 2 for $59 including a (approx $10) bottle of wine and coffee/tea. The restaurant appears to be new as I can't find any eatability reports. Maybe they are trying to drum up business and a reputation.

Be aware that the photos of the tasting plate sizes themselves look to be pretty small (even for a degustation) but for the price and inclusions it still looks good.

No expiry is listed on the purchase offer itself but it does indicate limited numbers available. The coupons themselves expire 1/1/2012.

  2. Lemon polpa di granchio: Cornetto of filo pastry filled w/ crab meat served w/ a balsamic reduction
  3. Polpette di formaggio di capra: Goats cheese meatball served w/ crushed pistachios and walnuts
  4. Calamari ripieni: Whole baby calamari stuffed w/ ricotta and spinach served w/ fresh tomato, onions and grated parmesan

Degustation is a culinary term meaning a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods and focusing on the gustatory system, the senses, high culinary art and good company.

Save you having to look it up like I had to.

    • Degustation is a culinary term

i know… but when i read the title, it looked like a seven course disgusting dinner… :)

      • jv was trying to be funny…give the guy a break :P

  • Hmmmm…

"including a (approx $10) bottle of wine"

Usually a degustation menu including wine will have a variety of wines matched to each course of the menu. This sounds like they just plonk down a bottle of plonk and away you go.

So, although a good price, I wouldn't be expecting anything spectacular.

  • To be honest, It doesnt seem like that great of an offer, and If anything…a little misleading. The pictures leave me to believe that you get 1 piece of each dish…Which is really half of an appetiser.
The mains are TINY (even for degustation)…I think a more appropriate value would be about $90 plus the bottle of wine.

That is what $180 (about!) worth of degustation for 2 at a hatted restaurant looks like :P

There are no reviews at all out there for this restaurant, so I'm assuming its a new establishment…but very misleading in terms of "value"
