Half price on the 2L bottle. Couldn't believe my eyes when I came across this, ATL for coconut water? I personally have found the taste to be alright.

I tried this once before in the chilled section and the taste wasn't the best. Fresh coconut > this brand in the room temperature section > this brand in the chilled section
100%!
R u saying it's better to leave this one at room temp?
There is a tetrapak version in the water aisle of colesworth. If you take it and chill it, it tastes better than buying it already chilled from the same brand. At least that's my opinion
I boil it and sniff the vapour, best taste.
I have had opposite, chilled > room temp
Hmm… It's meant to be the same thing, eg 100% coconut water. Have noticed the same phenomenon though. Think each brand has different quality standards and sources. Chance something at the store could have happened as well.
The canned version of this is best!
Agreed. This one tastes like corn
Please be aware that the taste might be related to the country of origin.
I found that Raw C and Woolies home brand are all from Phillipines.
Cocobella and Coles home brand are from Thailand. I always find that the ones from Thailand taste a lot better & sweeter and the ones from Phillipines have tangy after taste.
This Raw C is a product of Vietnam.
Sorry my bad. I personally would avoid Vietname and Phillipines coconut water simply because of the tangy after taste.
Cocobella is the best and the next best option is Coles home brand. If you are keen for the coconut flesh, the fresh coconut from Wollies is also great. They are all from Thailand
@Ramennightmare: I only have Vietnamese coconut water and have never felt this tangy after-taste?
@Flying Ace: Same I have Raw C carton and it not the sweetest but it doesn't have the after taste that a lot of other brands have
@Ramennightmare: I have coconut farms over seas and we have consumed tender coconut from the tree all the times. RawC and the H2O COCO are the only brands that taste close to the real thing. I like the RawC tetrapack version though. Everything else is so artificial and tastes of ripe coconut ; which I personally hate . Just my 2 cents.
@glenf: Thanks for sharing your experience.
I agree with you to some extent, I tried real coconut from Malaysia and Cairns as well. They taste much like the Raw C and H2O brand.
However, the fresh ones from Thailand just taste different. Sweeter and has more coconut flavour in my opinion.
I think it is just something to do with the breed, land type and also way of cultivation. Not too sure.
Maybe you can share your experience
How does it compare to cocobello?
cocobella
Cocobella tastes better.
Cocobella is a lot better, this tasted horrible when I tried it
Cocobella is probably the closest to fresh coconut juice I've had in Thailand. Other brands all have weird sour notes to them, not sure why.
Cocobella tastes cleaner but is slightly sweeter.
Raw C isn't bad but tastes more like coconut flesh(reminds me of the coconut in bounty). Which some people might like because it's more "coconut" tasting but it also doesn't taste like how I think actual coconut water tastes like.
Its taste is more like coconut flesh than Cocobella. That's why I prefer this one to Cocobella. Cocobella is sweeter but the taste is not quite natural to me.
I usually drink cocobella but after trying this for first time last month I actually prefer this one.
This bottled version of RawC is too sour for me! Their carton version is better.
Agree with this, the bottled version has different taste .
yeah tastes very artificial this one
Try the can version, it's superior to both.
They the version straight from a coconut, it's the freshest
I am going to try that out when it's on special
Not sure about sour but definitely don't like this one vs the carton
Let's us please call this what it is. Nut juice.
Coconut is a type of fruit. Therefore coconut juice is more appropriate.
Question
Is a coconut a fruit, nut or seed?Answer
Botanically speaking, a coconut is a fibrous one-seeded drupe, also known as a dry drupe.
However, when using loose definitions, the coconut can be all three: a fruit, a nut, and a seed.More @ U.S. Library Of Congress
https://www.loc.gov/everyday-mysteries/agriculture/item/is-a…Outside of the USA, a coconut is not referred to as a nut. Hence a loose definition. A drupe is a fruit.
If you have a nut allergy, you will not have a reaction eating coconuts.
Sounds right 👍
https://www.allergy.org.au/patients/food-allergy/coconut-all…Q 1: Is coconut a nut or seed?
The coconut is the fruit (seed) of the coconut palm tree…
…The presence of the phrase "nut" in the name does not mean that coconut will trigger an allergic reaction in people allergic to peanut or tree nuts.
a coconut is a fibrous one-seeded drupe, also known as a dry drupe.
So…drupe juice?
Dry drupe juice…? Needs some work on the marketing…
The coconut nut is a big big nut, if you eat too much you get very fat.
kumusta Kuya?
That’s a very low price considering a 600ml chilled sprite costs over $4 from Coles. I couldn’t believe people actually buy those instead of room temperature 2L ones for less than $4.
Hope it won't be out of stock
This one is disgustingly unpalatable, it’s got an artificial taste that lingers in a bad way.
+1 This brand is foul. Couldn't finish my 1L bottle. Thought it was just me but there is definitely an artificial taste/horrible aftertaste to a few of the coconut water/drink brands. I realised "Product of Thailand" coconuts are far superior and don't have this tainted flavour as opposed to the alternative "Product of Vietnam" coconuts. Have tried many.
Aldi Coconut water in the paper/tetrapak (un-chilled section) is the closest to Cocobella- but at 3 bucks.
FWIW, this is delivered on the grocery load (non-chilled) and then sold from the fridge.
@Plasma Since it has been chilled, it is ok to then store them outside the fridge if it's not opened?
As a personal choice, I wouldn't see why not.
cocobella thai coconuts are good for half price, otherwise aldi coconut water is also thai coconut and tastes the same!
How much is the Aldi coconut water ?
$3/Litre - tetrapak
Prefer Thai coconuts to Vietnamese ones. Cocobella ftw!!!
I've found even the coles brand(thai) is much better than RAW C water from Vietnam, Thai coconuts seem to have a better sweetness.
Sweeter ending. Happy.
What's the expiry on these?
i much preferred cocobella to this. found this one to taste …old.
Too much sugar …8.5g per serving (250ml)….
You do realise there’s a difference between Processed/natural sugar?
This is coconuts!
This is the base pricing that it should be in the first place.
Question for the people saying that coconut water from Vietnam is not as good: have you tried CocoCoast? It's from Vietnam and I think it's the best.
Agreed, I love their cans! I'm also a big fan of Bonsoy's sparkling coconut water.
On a different note, I was surprised to find that coconut water in Thailand and Vietnam wasn’t much cheaper than our sale prices here.
People there buy fresh coconuts, not the processed stuff.
Aldi coconut water tastes better. Good for this summer season!
No coconuts were harmed in the making of this add.
This brand is basically on special alternating weeks between Woolworths and Coles (not sure about the big pack vs the 1L but def the 1L). Personally, its not my favourite
Check out the Sodium content from brand to brand. Raw C has less. They all seem to be approaching about 30%.
Why are you making out like sodium in coconut water is a bad thing?
Do people still think sodium is bad for health?? What else? Eggs and saturated fat?? 😂
As it's "raw c" it may be unpasteurized. Cocabella is pasteurized. Review re: taste if you want to go down that rabbit hole: https://foodwatch.com.au/reviews/item/product-review-four-co…
That's a plus for Raw C then.
Cocobella 4.75 / 10 (tetra-pack)
… our regular coconut drinkers were put off as they found it too sweet and not what they were expecting in a pure coconut drink.
Yep.
Bottom line
On its own, the taste is pretty unattractive but may be OK mixed into a smoothie or combined with a sweeter juice.
Wut??
Good enough to use in my fruit smoothies and shakes
Haven't found the choc coconut ones one special now Amazon doesn't deliver rural
Hope SlavOz is still lurking on OzBargain.
