    Alcohol free beer only :-(

QLD Catalogue, others states should have some German beers

    • There is most likely other beer. This is only 2 pages.

      • Do you think ALDI will sell Les Paul copies?

        • Good question.

  • +1

Will there be any bargains on alcohol like in the 2018 and 2017 posts? Edit: too slow :-(

I will never understand why you can't get Paprika Chips in Australia … not even during the Aldi Oktoberfest specials … ah well Peanut Puffs and Potato sticks it is.

    • +1

They have had them before. Delicious.
Btw, i just saw Halloween stands being assembled in big w.

    • Crazy idea: buy a bag of your preferred chips, open bag, sprinkle paprika inside the bag, close the bag with your fist and shake, enjoy your paprika chips.

      • +1

@kahn Haha … should try this! Doubt it works ….

      • +6

        Ewwww work.

      • Easier way: put the chip in your mouth then sprinkle paprika in it, enjoy ~~

        • No, then you have to do that with every chip. Unless you're suggesting I stuff the bag of chips in my mouth, and then the paprika??

      • +2

I've tried this. It's not the same :(

        • I have as well. Same with pepper.

        • Wow! Can't believe it!
Looks like there should be a market here for the paprika flavour :-).

          • @mini_wombat: There should be. I don't understand why there isn't? It's easily the most popular flavour in Europe.

  • +2

Whoo, time to stock up on potato rosti!

    • Is that any good?

      • +6

        Its fantastisch!

        • +2

          They are all reich

          • @Gal: That's poor taste.

      • It is! It's like a shredded style of hash brown. You do it in a pan.

      • Except when it breaks. :(

      • Tried it and found it to be formless tasteless rubbish - in case anyone asks.

  • +1

The Rum Liqueur Cake is yum. I buy few EVERY year!

    • Those cakes are freaking awesome .. I had one the other day that I managed to not open for 2-3 years (eh, bachelor living) and it still was amazing ..

  • +2

They had great mini kegs last time. hopefully they're back.

    • +1

I did receive the email and they’ve got the 5L kegs! I’m going to buy this time. Missed out the last few times! However I am in VIC so I guess it depends on where you are(?).

      • Do you mean the 5L Krombacher kegs?

  • +2

White sausages? There's a joke gone begging.

      Weisswurst!

    • Is there a joke for blood sausage

    • +1

White seems to be the only colour allowed for jokes these days

    Sausage fest.

  • Woohoo!!! Time to stock up on the smoki aka peanut puffs!!!

  • No cheese kransky? : (

    • +1

Isn't cheese kransky a permanent line in the aldi fridge?

      • +2

        Yeah, its always there.

        • They have new packaging.

        • its pretty great

    • +2

I do like a Kransky but they're slavic, not deutsch.

  • Gosh I hope they have Nuremburger Wurstel!

    • I hope they'll soon have the second part of the Nuremberg trials :D.

      • Wurst joke ever.

  • No pretzels? Best pretzel I had in Germany was from Aldi

    • Big Pretzels 10pk 200g $3.99

      Mustn't be big enough

    • +4

Best <insert random thing that isn't groceries but you didn't want it when you walked into the store but walked out with five of them then posted about it on Ozbargain> was from Aldi

      • Five? I see you're new here. :)

  • +3

These pretzels are making me thirsty…

  • +2

time for the yearly stock up on weisswurst

  • It's all about that German mustard for me

  • +1

Update: Alcohol links added for selected NSW, ACT, VIC and WA stores.

  • Nice beer and snack selection. Will def be hitting up some of that Paulaner.

  • is the potato rosti any good? i saw it last year but forgot to get it

    • +1

It's spot on, same quality you would get as ready-for-pan Rösti in Switzerland, don't sleep this time.

  • mmmm, weissbier…

  • +1

I cannot understand why people go crazy over sauerkraut..

I make it a few times a year. Fresh cabbage from the farmers markets. Salt and set it.. many stores are now selling fermenting jars.

Few weeks in a cabinet and you have homemade Sauerkraut.. All we have to do is shred the cabbage, mix with salt.. and kneed until there is plenty of brine.

Then 2-3 weeks in a cabinet we have Sauerkraut.

Wish they'd bring back the frozen pretzels they've had in previous years, they were Wunderbar!

  • Bratwurst and Debreziner weren't mentioned in the email from Aldi that I got sent. Can anyone confirm they're available in store? Browsing through a couple of stores in VIC, I couldn't see them.

  • Anyone tried the beers listed above and recommend any?

    Thanks

    • I like the Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier, Nice taste and less "wheaty" than most wheat bears. Hell or Helles beers are worth trying, the typical lager beer in southern Germany

Personally I dont think the Octoberfest bear is that great in flavour, although it does go down in quantity pretty easy.
