Anyone knows at what price they sell it at Costco?

    • +3

I think it was 14 when I bought it couple of months back. This 1/2 is cheaper.

      • Thanks mpadre

    • +2

There was one deal ~1 year ago

NongShim Noodles 20 Pack Shin Ramyun $11.99 @ Costco [Membership Required]

= same price per pack here

      • Is this Shin cup/ Shim cup or what's it called?

        • The individual 'packs' are the same as this deal. No Cup. You need to simmer/boil in a pot (or some other way).

        • No this is packet, not cup.
          And it's $13.99 or $14.99 these days.
Bought the other day but threw out receipt

    • +2

When 1/2 $ at Coles or woolies Costco will match it but you can get discount gift card and FB points, so supermarket still cheaper

    • $14.99 for pack of 20 seen yesterday at Costco.

  • Never tried this.
Assuming this will taste better than Maggi or Indomie Mi Goreng?

    • +4

Depends on if you like it spicy.

      • Can it be eaten without the "soup" like stir-fry style?

        • +3

Actually not a bad idea from my experience. Mix with eggs or put only half the seasoning powder otherwise it is very salty.

    • +1

In terms of the noodle, yes, way better. Flavour? Depends.

    • +2

Gotta say as basic as Maggi noodles are, I have a thing for their Oriental flavour. It was a staple for me as a kid/teen/uni student!

      • worth a shot then, thank you all

    • +8

Of course it is better than Maggi, Maggi is the worst I guess, never tried something worse than Maggi (blank taste).

      • Have you tried the Maggi from the Asian shops, they will be from Asia. The Australian version from Coles/Woolies is rubbish.

  • +2

I assume the quality is in this one?

  • +1

Do they have the shin ramen black range ?

    • Always wondering what’s the difference between the black and this?

      • +10

The difference is once you go black you cant go back

        • will try and let you know if I would :)

  • Should be use 1000 points to get $50 Google play gift card

    • I use Play points to renew my extra Google storage every month.
So it's worth it plus 1000 pts. Also use it on Tinder, sometimes..

  • Anyone know if u can use google play credit to pay for Google drive stor
    age

    • +1

Yes you can. Choose Google Play Balance at checkout.

  • Just like the noodles not the taste, so I use the noodles for cooking purposes and throw all seasoning sachets.

    • +1

Please donate to me, I'm the exact opposite. Use the seasoning for soups and stuff haha

      • Seriously! I’ll keep them all and let you know my address if you would like to collect them?

        • +2

It's a long way from Victoria to Brisbane fo some seasoning sachets.

    • So what you use for seasoning/flavour?

      • In the rubbish bin

        • What do you use for flavour? Garbage?

          • @capslock janitor: Ah sorry I make my own flavour or use the one I can get in the restaurant where I am working.

    • I agree. I like the noodles but not the seasoning

  • +1

As a cheap asian, you have me on rice and instant noodles.

    • +1

What's the limit on rice per person/transaction?

    • +1

      Budaejigae

      • If it was on sale at the same time as Spam, yusss

  • how is that even possible?

Cheaper than buying it in Korea

    • Lotte Mart, one of the largest supermarket chains in Korea, is selling it for 3380 won (~A$4.69).

      • Any purchasing limit on the Jasmine?

      • +2

Lotte mart is an expensive supermarket, you can find cheaper almost anywhere else..

Most non Korean grocers sell Shin ramyun made in China. I don't know what Coles sell but I doubt they are made in Korea.

      • -1

Coles and Woolies are made in Korea. I think they did once sell the Made in China ones, but after the whole benzopyrene scare, I can't recall seeing them there again.

        • Made in South Korea from Imported ingredients

      • @Ononono Err you may want to take a closer look at the catalogue image up top

  • Absolutely love this noodle soup

  • I haven't had Nongshim for ages. For some reason the seasoning in the US has beef broth in it (which I don't eat), whereas the ones sold in Australia are vegan.

  • +2

Is it just me or are these Nongshim Shin Ramyun packets ridiculously hot. I'm talking about just above Nando extra hot levels or Thai pepper. I've known this thing when they are in cups, and they are fine, but the packets are to the point it's uncomfortable.

Anyone notice this, or did I buy a bad batch. Bought them from Woolies about a month ago on special.

    • I agree, they are seriously spicy even for my taste.

      • +4

you can reduce the heat level by only putting in half of the flavour sachet.

    • Yeah me too. I dont like Shin ramen for that reason. I really like Jin ramen (mild one not spicy one) though.

    • +6

come on guys, this ain't hot

      • +1

I'm not discussing about how hot Nongshim Shin Ramyun are, I'm talking about specifically these packs for Aus supermarkets. They are at least 50% hotter than the cups I've been eating for the last 15 years.

Now that a few people have commented, I know I'm not imagining things. Not sure why Nongshim feel the need to turn it up 2 notches up, it's disgusting now but maybe they are trying to appeal to the viral Youtube crowd.

        • The cups are totally different to these…

      • +1

the real hot stuff are the samyang 2x spicy noodles

        they're a big deal

    • You're correct. I thought these were way spicy 🥵

  • +1

    Thanks again mr db 😎👏

  • +1

As far as noodle quality goes, these are a full few levels above the Sumin/Maggi/IndoMe stuff. Really excellent texture and taste.

Flavours are a different thing and tougher to quantify. If you love spicy food, these will satisfy you for sure. Im a pepper grower and enjoy a bit of chilli with everything and these are a nice warm burn, without the disgusting exctract aftertaste that some competitors have.

  • Does this taste better than samyang spicy noodles? (not the 2x, the original ones).

  • +2

Is this the best noodle in supermarkets in coles or woolworths?

    • +2

      Yes by far

      • THANKS!

    • This or Prima Taste, but they're laksa or curry soups with noodles

      • funny that no one mentioned Indomie Mee Goreng °°°

    • +2

No, depends who you ask; if you ask the Koreans, their replies would be 'Yes' but if you ask the Malaysians, their replies be 'No' and so on the Indonesians have their own pride when it comes to instant noodles.

      • Let's not start that argument again :'P

    • So how we promote to import more Asian food to our food market chains?

  • If my tastebuds hadn't matured as much as it has, I would be on this.

Honestly, the taste of my childhood right here.

Also, for me, this is a tolerable level of spice. Will see the spicy chicken fire ramen and sashay my way far away from it. That's just pure pain.

  • My family is hunanese these noodles are Pepsi max level as in not spicy at all. Try the paldo x2extra spicy chicken noodles

  • Went to both Coles in Hurstville last night. All gone. Came back today, plenty of boxes. Happy days.
