    Literally from someguy's garage.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=CompuClever+Systems+Inc.&oq=….

The office suite ain't even listed under their products

    http://www.compuclever.com/

The screenshot pretty much shows its just a fork of Libreoffice or Openoffice.

Just go with Libreoffice and skip the middleman, god knows what they have done to it.

Haha and edge seems to say the site is 'unsafe'. Good pick up lol.

      • Take my upvote sir, that is quite literally the first time I have ever seen someone refer to edge like it was a common browser people use

This is the message I got from MalwareBytes when I clicked on your compuclever link: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/82921/72332/site.jpg

Wow - couldn't agree more with you.

You literally don't need any office program these days unless you are doing specialised editing which requires more than what Google Docs gives you…haven't touched MS office in years even.

    • The screenshots look like an exact replica of LibreOffice, so the two questions are;

      • (As above) What have they added and taken out apart from their branding? There is a long history of software that rebrands already free software (gimp, etc.) and spies on you or worse.

      • Will they update it when LibreOffice is updated? I have strong doubts that they will keep up with the updates, particularly in the long run, leaving you in the lurch for features, compatibility fixes and security fixed.

In my personal opinion you would have to have a very, very good reason to install this instead of the great free software it is derived from.

These are those apps that most ppl usually uninstall straight away anyway. I highly doubt someone is clinging to their copy of UltraOffice despite knowing better features/security exist in other office suites, just because they have some kind of weird fetish with UltraOffice and malware. These apps use that 10 sec window between installing and uninstalling to infect your PC with malware and start stealing info. Simple uninstall from Programs and Features won't do jack. You need a pro tool like REVO Uninstaller PRO to get rid of all the hidden shit these apps leave behind.

        • -1

That is totally false. You are making unsubstantiated claims. I've head both Neat and Ultra Office installed on my PC, this the last time this offer was listed and there is no malware. I've tested some of CompuClever's other apps and once again there was no malware installed.

With regards to uninstalling the apps, because they are universal apps, rather than standard desktop apps, very little will be left behind.

          • -1

@rogerm22: Don't lie on a public forum. I just tested your claim " little will be left behind" and REVO reported two pages of hidden malware that this app installed and didn't remove when uninstalled.

If you want to use an unknown and unverified app from an untrustworthy source, all the power to you. I stand corrected on "I highly doubt someone is clinging to their copy of UltraOffice despite knowing better features/security exist in other office suites, just because they have some kind of weird fetish with UltraOffice and malware.".

            • @UrbanLegend: I'm not lying. I'm highly experienced in malware removal and spend lots of time actually testing unwanted software (PUPs). Also, I have not been infected for many years, despite using unknown and unverified apps, every single day.

Your claim that hidden malware was left behind, without providing any evidence to back up your claim is truly ridiculous. Even if there were some leftovers, it's highly unlikely they are malicious. You also fail to realise that a universal app can't infected a system, the same way a standard desktop app does. They are limited in what they can do.

  • Wow, T602 documents… Must be at least 30 years since I saw those last time… 8-D

  • This has always been free. The free offer never ended. I have both Neat and Ultra Office installed.

  • I couldn’t find this on MacBook Air

    • Like most software, it's only available for for Windows. However, you can get LibreOffice, on which this is based, for Macs.
