    I love this city, been there twice. Great smallish city but definitely not too small. The beach area near Fukuoka Tower is nice.

    As much as I like Japan for their food and culture (Been to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto more than 7 times now), I made a promise to myself to not to travel there ever again due to the most restaurant (where most tourist goes) using Fukushima grown products which are filled with radiation.

    BUT Fukuoka seems far away….. lol

        simple google will find it. go to the restaurant where locals goes to. Simply avoid restaurants where many tourists go and foods from the convenience stores. these 2 use fukushima grown foods as these are way cheaper. I wouldn't personally go to Tokyo ever that radiation won't go away for 100 years at least.

    We started our 2-week Japan trip from Fukuoka. Easy access to nearby Nagasaki. Combined with a 2 week Shinkansen pass you can visit a lot of places easily. We traveled all the way to Tokyo, via Hiroshima, Osaka, stayed in Kyoto for a few days.

        It's plenty of time, a direct bullet train to Tokyo is about 6 hours, but you can spend a couple of days in several cities on the way. Kyoto is a must do, plan for a least 3 days there.

    Alot of Japanese people say Fukuoka is the best for food, Kyushu is great to explore after doing Tokyo/Osaka.
    I am going to book as i need to go back to Kagoshima every year. Thanks OP!

        Any recommendations? I love Ichiran but i am wanting to try a lot of Ramen in Fukuoka as tonkotsu is my favourite.
        Someone told me to visit Nagahama Ramen while there
