  • Just saying, for $150ish, you can also get the M18FPD2 from Milwaukee with an even more "unbeatable" max torque of 135NM.

    I guess if you're like me with no Makita tools, it'll cost a fair bit to get a battery and charger to go with this.

  • I bought one of these earlier this year to replace the entry-level LXT hammer drill and I wasn't super-impressed. It's good, sure, but I had hoped it would be amazing given the price difference. However, I found that if the job is tough enough to need that unwieldly handle, I'm probably going to get the rotary hammer out instead. (Caveat - most of my drilling is into masonry - if you're doing coach bolt holes into fencing or something it may be very different)

    PS - beware the generic Makita batteries for these heavier duty drills. Cheaper, sure, and fine for light work, but under load there's a big difference between the genuine and the generics.
