    • +1

bruhhh a high yield investment car is a bargain !! smh

  • Just came here for the comments. Thanks.

  • You should mention it's a 2018 plated car.

  • No option for manual transmission. No deal for me here.

  • Ordered 3, thanks OP.
    Click & collect tomorrow.
Hopefully they don't refund like GoodGuys.

  • -2

Seriously, this OP has no idea how p#ssed off I am about this “deal. I don’t live in QLD so I cannot take advantage of this wonderful deal. I don’t even have access to a vehicle so I plan to head off at first light in the morning on my shank’s pony and try and get some “donations” from gullible folk along the way to give me a couple of thousand $s to put a deposit on one. Hey, I just had a marvellous idea, i could use the travelling paint-your-roof scheme to fund my travels AND the purchase of one of these motors. How does that sound!?

  • +2

Why are people laughing at the price?

Just walk out on any motorway in Sydney and see thousands of BMWs, Mercs, Audis, Lexus etc.

    • You must be new here.

Camry is the go to car…

      • +1

There tends to be a certain type of ethnicity that gravitates towards Camrys

        • Ohh my Gud!

          • @DEvok: Lol… the response aint much of a surprise too. Welcome to OZB.

        • Yeh the sort that rocks up to a seller's home, saw a blue one then ask do you have one in red.

      • I'll wait a few years, the 2018 Camry is still at least 25k+

People that make the dumb jokes and hate on these types of posts usually fall into two categories:
      1. A to B car drivers who make uninformed comments not seeing the merit in owning a luxury car.
      2. Jealous people who cant afford one.

      • I will take the 3rd category.

      • not seeing the merit in owning a luxury car

I don't really see the 'merit' in owning a luxury car, because Japanese cars these days have all the same safety features that the $100k Europeans do.

But I agree with point 2.

        • Have you actually owned a $100k euro car? Or are just looking at features list on a brochure and thinking Japanese cars have all the safety features that expensive euro cars have so they must all drive the same?

          • @keejoonc:

Have you actually owned a $100k euro car?

Yes, of course. Had a BMW X5 for a few years. Now drive the Lexus RX450 from the company. They're very common in Sydney.

A lot of the safety features which come standard in Lexus and Toyota are options in Mercs and BMWs.

            • @Numlock: Safety features alone doesn't define a car. You make it sound like having the same amount of features makes one car as good as another car which is rarely the case.

              • +1

I go for safety, reliability, resale value. Naturally, Lexus is my preferred option. The BMW was a nightmare to own and costly.

  • Great for Uber and didi.

  • +1

The Tesla deal was much better

  • -1

Does charging your electric car with coal powerplant generated electricity work out better for the environment though?

  • +5

    Why the $**888?
    Is this deal targeted?

    • +1

I think 8 in chinese (ba) sounds similar to the word prosperity. It's a common marking ploy the chinese use, or businesses trying to attact chinese customers

  • BMW530 on a Hyundai Accent. Seen it multiple times. They must have upgraded and kept the plate.

    • upgraded…yes they have.

  • +1

Cost as much as a small house back in the 80's

    officeworks price match %5 off?

  • +1

Bought 10 and planning on selling on gumtree for a profit!

    • +2

wow where do you live, inner city melbourne land is now $4000 per m2, you would need a lot of land to park those cars , unless you live in outer suburbs and couldn’t afford one.

i could live in a budget suburb 20 km from the melb CBD for $500k, but choose to live inner city for $1.5M, yeah, could buy 3 houses in a new estate, but it’s a life style choice, just like the type of cars people buy. some people buy cars for over $100k, or even $200k ….some people have money and rather than give it charity they spend it on themselves.

people spend their money on stuff and a car is one of them.

my next car will be electric, hope the tesla 3 become readily available as a possible option.

      • +1

        Cool.

  • +1

lol If i was that rich i would be doing something else not looking for bargains

    • +2

There are a number of people who will finance it even if they're not "that rich". Besides, there's nothing wrong with looking for bargains even if you're that rich. :)

  • Strictly limited to 10 per customer?

  • What is the equivalent/direct competitor of MB for this vehicle?

  • Thanks OP, bought 2

  • Can I use all those eneloop batteries I haven't used as spare battery power?

  • so Ozbargain, what's next? a property in eastern suburb in Sydney?

  • FROM $79888

Always amazed at the amount of hate for these car deals. Somebody shopping for a BMW 5 series has probably already discounted a Camry off their shopping list. Good or Bad the typical customer for a 5 series is probably different to a Camry. There's also a fair chance that the buyer is buying through a business and claiming some of the depreciation through their business. A business partner of mine bought a 3 year old Audi RS6 off a local tradie who had bought it originally brand new through his building business.

I also doubt that most buyers of $100K ish brand new, under warranty cars worry too much about the cost of parts. Most will buy it through heir business, claim the depreciation and operating costs as business deductions via the logbook method and move the car on before the end of the warranty period.

If their business is going well the car costs will be in the noise level of the business. If the car costs drag the business down you will see it on Grays Online in 18 months time. I doubt most people in this situation would be choosing a Camry or Mazda 3 instead.

    • +2

Agreed. Also an important factor is buying a car that you love to drive. Lots of people here consider cars as useful "tools" but they dont seem to understand there is an appreciable, real difference between driving a BMW 5 series compared to a Toyota Camry. Better handling, comfort, more power, less road noise, more tech etc. Bottom line is you enjoy your Camry but no need to shit on others who just like to enjoy their cars.

A car will probably be the second most expensive purchase you'll make in your life. Why not also buy something that'll make you happy.

    • Funny you've mentioned Camry. I was looking at one the other day for shits and giggles but if you want some toys in them like a Camry SL, they're getting a little spendy to the point they are approaching a povo spec C200 price range if you don't mind getting a head office car or ex-dealership loaners. Back to this 530e story, $80k on a 4 year lease with a 35% residual aren't exactly too out of reach. Again it gets better if you opt for a 5 year lease on a slightly lower residual.

  • Can I use my stash of Ozbargain-acquired Eneloops in it?

  • A great person once justified spending 80000 on a car is a good investmeny considering when you are fresh off from university and landed a suit wearing Job.

  • +5

ozbargain is full of peasants and people wanting to save every 5 cent piece

This type of deal isn't for this place.

    • Not exactly true. A cardio-surgeon told me that ozbargain is his Favorited site.

  • -1

    The bargain nobody can afford.

    • +2

      According to who?
Fair enough if you can't afford it but don't assume everyone here is in the same financial circumstance as you.

      • Well said keejoonc. As a series 5 owner, I am absolutely amazed at the idea of comparing BMW 530 with Toyota Camry. They are just 2 completely different cars that serve completely different purposes.
